It CAN be transmitted through sex, but it is so fucking rare that it isn't considered a viable way of spreading. The Tattoo needles which Pam said, is a VERY likely way that it could happen, unless she did a lot of drugs she had to shoot up. Honestly, in all likelihood, Tommy gave it to her.

But unless she is a big drug user that shoots up with various needles, it probably isn't hard for her to know where she had blood to blood contact with someone. I also noticed how Tommy and basically everyone else tried to act like it was a STD that she had. That cheap little ploy convienced me that she indeed got it from him.

Of course she could have been cheating on him and used the other guys razors to shave her legs or something, but I'm going to lean towards the guy she was sharing a home with.
