The OaO 2003-2004 NBA Season Thread!

Recommended Posts

Oh, I am SO glad I decided to watch the Celtics game tonight. It's becoming very obvious to me that Paul Pierce isn't the same player without Antoine to take some of the slack off. He can't do it by himself.

We're playing for ping pong balls, kids!! Yep, it's the third "rebuilding" phase in 12 years for this team.

I was AT tonight's Celtics game. And oh my. Unfuckingbelieveable.

I had to stand up and give the round of applause after the brick on the dunk. WOW. As if the game weren't comical enough.

This team has been murdered by Danny Ainge. And I won't forgive him for it. We were on a five game fucking winning streak before the Davis trade. And it murdered the team. Simply butchered.

Prepare to be held in the same regard as Jeremy Jacobs and Rick Pitino, Ainge. Cause we don't forget, and we don't forgive.

I stand by the trades. The change of scereny didn't disolve the shooting skills of Pierce, despite what people think. I don't know what the fuck he is doing, but it's not good. He must be still hurting pretty badly. It's sad right now, but hopefully we'll be big spenders this off season since we do have alot of free money now.

Well as long as the Celts are taking team-killing trades, would you mind taking Rasheed Wallace off the Blazers hands? Portland managed to get someone to take a trade for Shawn F'n Kemp a few years ago, surely someone in the league is enough of a sucker to take on this cancer.

Funny story: Shaq was bitching in press about Yao beating him out for the starting spot and implying that it's because people in China vote for him on the net, but when the official numbers came out, O'Neal had more online votes, while Ming had more paper ballot votes from North American fans.

Hahahaha! That's great.

Speaking of the All-Star Game, there's no way in hell Francis should be starting over Mike Bibby or Sam Cassell other than the people who vote for these things are idiots.

Actually, I think the Blazers bought out Kemp's contract, after which he went to Orlando.

Hell, I'd even throw Steve Nash and Andre Miller onto that list.

I think the Celtics should trade Paul Pierce, and Walter McCarthy to the Lakers for Kobe Bryant and a 2nd round draft pick. Pierce could play in his hometown, the Lakers need another clutch roleplayer like Walter. How the Boston crowd would respond to Kobe I don't know but you can build a team around Kobe, you can't build a team around Paul Pierce. Boston fans will respect you if you're winning. It'll never happen but Danny Ainge would be a genius for pulling off a trade like that

I got tickets for the Celtics against the Wizards on March 5th. I'm starting to doubt the Celtics will even win that.

No one is going to trade for Kobe right now, since he could be going to jail after the season is over. But when he becomes a free agent, yeah, I could see a sign-and-trade between the Lakers and Boston.

why in the piss would the lakers ever trade kobe. Shaq is 33 and doesn't have more than 5 years in him as great as he is. After that time Kobe will still be 30 years old and in his "prime". Plus if the Lakers win, Malone and GP retire, and then they trade Kobe, then the Lakers will really suck. Paul Pierce is not as good as Kobe Bryant

If I was the Lakers GM, I'd actually rather do the "rumored" trade between Memphis and LA, Pau Gasol and a 1st round draft pick for Kobe Bryant and Devean George. I'd much rather have Gasol then Pierce. Imagine Gasol at PF, Shaq at center. I also heard another "rumor" about a Chicago- LA Trade, Tyson Chandler, Jamal Crawford and Eddie Robinson for Kobe Bryant and a 2nd round draft pick.

Somebody better hire me as GM of a franchise. Is Atlanta hiring yet?

Medevenko, Rush, George are the future for the Lakers. The team should look for a Small Forward who can play some defense and get rid of the injuried pretty boy Fox.

Now there's a rumored trade between Golden State and Portland, sending Rasheed Wallace for Nick Van Exel and Erick Dampier.

Portland are really doing their best to ship Wallace out of town, he's been rumored to be going to NY, Dallas twice, the Warriors now, and i'm pretty sure there were one or two other teams as well.

I wouldn't trade Ratliff for Wallace. Ratliff pretty much IS Atlanta's defense right now.

And I don't think the Hawks will be trading any of their first round picks anytime soon. :D

And everyone should turn over to ESPNNEWS to see the Pacers/Celtics highlights...Bird and Ainge are sitting next to each other in the crowd, and after the final play, they show Bird clapping while Ainge is sitting there with a look on his face like someone just ran over his dog.

PRICELESS.

Yeah 1st round is pretty crazy, I think I meant 2nd round draft pick. Either way trade Wallace to purgatory, I hate that guy.

I don't think Boston will get any better this year, I think they'll just keep losing and losing. I think they should somehow hassle a high profile coach at the end of this year to coach for him. When does Pitino's contract with Louisville end? Let's try it one more time :D

For those who complain about people flopping (me included), witness Chauncey Billups in last night's game against Memphis. It's tied at 78, and he goes up for a jumper and does that thing he did last year against the Nets at the end of game two where he kicks his legs out and falls on the ground, Gasol gets ALL BALL, but gets called for a foul with 0.2 left. Of course Billups proceeds to sink both free throws and Memphis gets screwed.

George is a natural SF, so in terms of future, they need a PG. This year, I'd like Fox to be traded for a big man.

I guess if Kobe stays, they could go Rush, Kobe, George, Medvedenko/FA Forward, and a Center. Remember Shaq's retirement frees up $120 million. I'm still not convinced on Slava as a starter. I do see Devean George as the possible #1 player 4-8 years down the road, if he stays and Kobe leaves. Needless to say, I'd become a huge Memphis fan if the Kobe & George / Gasol sign & trade happens.

LeBron is having a career best performance in scoring today...he's up to 38 with 6min left in the game.

Good thing I drafted him 4th round in my fantasy league.

I just watched KG make 5 steps without dribbling the ball and not get called for traveling, is this a common occurence?(I don't see many T-Wolves games)

Kinda frustrating watching the Sonics be so close at beating all the top West teams and only losing by a few points.

Kinda sad that if the Sonics played in the East they would rule it.

Change "East" to "Atlantic" and I'll agree with you.
