Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted February 28, 2004 Well I know this is a day late, but that Kings/Lakers game was a very good game. I am hoping these teams meet in the playoffs. I think that the Kings are looking good. When they get their full team back, they have to considered one of 8 possible teams that could win it (more like 4). What they have is a team that has been kept pretty much intact. And with the Maloof brothers, they have owners who are owning team for fun and they have money to burn. That always leads to the fans having a good team to cheer for. I think this could be the Kings year. I feel that if Webber hadn't blown his knee out, one can make the case that they were looking like the best team in the NBA. And without Webber, the Kings have not missed a beat. They love to pass the ball and get their teammates involved. As for the Lakers, hey, with Shaq and Kobe, you know you will contend. But, what was up with the Lakers not getting Shaq the ball down crunch time? I know that he was not hitting his free throws, but to completely not use him, baffles me. Also, Kobe is a great player and he is a great passer, but sometimes I feel he doesn't believe he can be, and so he has to do everything by himself. Unfortunately the Laker's two big free agent pick ups, are a little pass their prime. Malone and Payton are still really good players, but I am seeing Payton getting burned more and more by quicker guards. He no longer resembles the "Glove". And Malone, has spent more games on the bench, then on the court this season. That is something that never used to happen before. But the Lakers do have Shaq and Kobe, and that has proven to be enough for three championships. Any NBA team would be dumb to take the Lakers lightly, but at the same time, they must also realize that they can be beat.
The Electrifyer 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2004 Looks like Kobe is seriously considering playing for Denver next season: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/bask...t.ap/index.html I don't know how good of an idea it is for him to play in Colorado. Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted February 28, 2004 Celtics looked good tonigt, even though it was against the Raptors. Brian Hunter is gonna be gooood. his name is Brandon Hunter. Nickname in Highschool was "Baby Shaq". He's still growing, so he should be extremely good on the boards and inside. Danny Ainge will probably trade him away for a broken down player and late first round draft pick someday though.
Guest OctoberBlood Report post Posted February 28, 2004 Danny Ainge will probably trade him away for a broken down player and late first round draft pick someday though. Ah shutup, you people are getting retarded around here with all the Ainge hate. It's not even funny even more. He knows what hes doing, and almost everyone who critizes him has no clue. Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted February 28, 2004 If he knew what he was doing then he would've gotten Eric Dampier at the trade deadline. Golden State only wanted expiring contract and a draft pick for him so they can get into the Kobe sweepstakes during the off-season. It literally would have cost us Dallas' 1st rounder, Marc Blount, Walter McCarty, and Jumaine Jones. not to mention he gave up Darius Songalia to the Kings for a couple second round pick. The guy is averaging close to a double-double right now for them. Ainge is C-r-a-p
Guest OctoberBlood Report post Posted February 28, 2004 Who knows if he could've gotten Eric Dampier. Plus I'd rather have Marc Blount and Walter than to give up both of those guys, plus a pick for the almost 30 year old average center. We don't need, nor do we have room for another average center on this team. We should let Mihm and LaFrentz develope. They can be just as good as Damp and is much younger too. Who cares about Dampier. Sheesh.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted February 28, 2004 Blount who is 28 LaFrentz who is turning 28 soon(there's no more developing for him, he is what he is...6 year vets are no longer developemental players) McCarty who is 30 so there goes your major age thing I didn't know that a Center who averages 12 points a game, 12 boards a game, and 2 blocks a game in the West where big men rule is average. MrRant 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2004 Well it just hurts me that the two NBA teams I root for.. the Sonics and the Celtics are mired in the middle.

What major age thing? The hell? I said Dampier. I don't care what age McCarty and Blout is. They are on our team. We don't need another average center who is already 30 years old. Mihm is 24, thanks for mentioning him. Damp is average, and has been his whole career. 8.7 pts and 7 boards. Not to mention... hes pretty damn inconsistant too. This season, he has put up pretty solid numbers in an average (again, inconsistant).. and sure, he may be alittle better than what we got now, but we dont need him. He is NOT worth giving up 2 good role players and a pick for.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted February 28, 2004 Blount's contract is up after this year and he'll be looking for a bigger contract. McCarty is McCrappy. One night he scores 18 with like 4 3s and then he'll go scoreless the next 3 games(its happened twice this year, go look it up). Why am I going to mention Mihm when I have no problem with with him? I was arguing against the other players...you want me to argue against a player I am for? Dampier and Brandon Hunter on the boards would be huge for us. Of course I'd rather the team just continue to tank and grab Okefor in the draft.
Guest OctoberBlood Report post Posted February 29, 2004 Blount won't be with the team next year if he asks for a "much" bigger contract. I don't see us dropping that far to put us in a position to get Okafor, but that would be nice. I think Hunter, Mihm, and LaFrentz on the boards will be fine. Mihm and Hunter especially. We'll just have to give them time. I just don't like the thought of going after Damp. And I'm glad we didn't.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted February 29, 2004 I'm just saying he had a chance to go after somebody that would excite the fans and place butts back in the seats, yet he didn't. That would have been a good move. There's a good chance we fall far enough to grab Okefor. Cleveland is slowly getting better, Toronto will be good again once Carter and Rose come back, Philli just isn't this bad...they'll pull themselves together when all are healthy, Orlando is starting to slowly come around, and we can't beat the Bulls. I think our only concern would be the Hawks. Even though Pheonix has a shitty record they'll beat up on more Eastern Teams before all is said and done. Celts might only win 3 games in all of March if you look at their schedule. So just keep your fingers crossed and hope for next season to have Brandon Hunter and Okefor under the rim to pull down boards and kill the opposition in the low post game. Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted February 29, 2004 that's gonna be hard to do since Cleveland looks like they may be headed to the playoffs. I bet they grab the 8th spot
Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted February 29, 2004 Out of all the rookies who came out this year, Kirk Hinrich is the first one to get a triple double. That just surprised me when I looked at the Bulls/Warriors boxscore is all. And yes, I Bulls/Warriors box score watch, don't you judge me for it.

Cuban Linx 0 Report post Posted February 29, 2004 Looks like Jerry Stackhouse is sitting out the rest of the season, while they suck anyway it should help ensure the Wizards have a high draft pick next year at least. Stackhouse out again And typically as soon as they near the top eight the Blazers lose two straight, but at least Denver is losing as well so they aren't losing any ground. razazteca 0 Report post Posted February 29, 2004 I watched it too but for purely fantasy basketball reason. I am disappointed with the Jerome Williams and Speedy Claxton injuries but am happy with the Brian Cardinal performance. I don't know what to say about the Spurs win over the Nuggets. Should I cheer the fighting spirit of the team in a win without their MVP or should I jeer the head coach for holding down the talented Malik Rose and Manu Ginobili? Malik Rose proved tonight that he can be the big time player who deserved the contract from last year. But the coaching staff or should I say Popavich, seems to be in love with platooning the Power Forward spot with outside shooters. Malik Rose needs 25+ minutes a game to be effective and the same can be said with MANU who should be the point guard. And what is the deal with Rasho who seems to be afraid to shoot the ball when Duncan is playing.
The Electrifyer 0 Report post Posted February 29, 2004 I'm pretty pissed that Speedy's out too. He was a good addition to my team. I can't believe he put up a career high on an injured hand though. Makes me sort of wonder if his injury is really that bad?
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted February 29, 2004 Denver gave no effort against the Spurs. Giving up a 117 points to the Spurs without Duncan. Someone thought they'd win by just showing up.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted February 29, 2004 (edited) The draft will be rigged for Orlando so T-Mac can get some frontcourt help. McGrady is a draw, which means as long as he cries like a bitch about losing, so does David Stern. Besides, why would Cleveland need Okafor, they already have Z and the Boozehound. If you ask me, Hunter made Ainge look about 10x smarter for shipping Battie out in the Davis deal. Edited February 29, 2004 by alfdogg
King Kamala 0 Report post Posted February 29, 2004 I'm not gonna judge Ainge until 2006, when his machine gets working, until then this is just experiment after experiment. I can't believed I missed the Celtics winning, geez this may not happen for a while. Celtics are projected to get Jameer Nelson at No. 8 in next year's draft, your thoughts Celts fans?
