Guest Redhawk Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 A successful season for the T-Wolves would be going to the West Finals anything less would be failure. You guys obviously aren't Yankees fans. Anything less than winning the NBA title is a complete and utter failure.
razazteca Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 Hey its not like the T-Wolves went out to buy the championship this year, they found the missing piece in the Point Guard Sam Cassell who will take the team to the 2nd round but the injuries of the team will not get them any further than the West Finals.
alfdogg Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 I think it's fairly obvious he was being sarcastic, Raz.
Guest Redhawk Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 Dwayne Wade > Carmelo Anthony um......not really. But Wade is pretty damn good.
Steviekick Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 At best, it would be equal. Carmelo's lucky Camby, Lenard, and Nene have all been having a good season in Denver.
razazteca Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 Dwayne Wade > Carmelo Anthony um......not really. But Wade is pretty damn good. I believe that Wade should be Rookie of the Year but won't get it simply because of all of the hype for the James vs Anthony deal as the future of the NBA.
Guest Redhawk Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 1) Compare the numbers.... Â Carmelo: 19.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.3 steals, 42% FG, 32% 3-Pt, 75% FT. Â Wade: 17 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.4 steals, 47% FG, 33% 3-Pt, 71% FT. Â 2) Look at the All-Star factor: Everyone was saying 'Melo should have been on the All-Star team, but I didn't hear anyone arguing for Wade. Did you? And the crop of Western Conference forwards that 'Melo had to crack (Garnett, Duncan, Dirk, A. Walker, Brand, Malone, Sprewell, Rasheed, Amare, Peja, Rashard Lewis, Kirilenko) is tougher than the group of Eastern Conference guards that Wade had to crack (Pierce, Baron Davis, LeBron, Billups, Redd, Kidd, Houston, Marbury, T-Mac, Iverson, Stackhouse). Â 3) Supporting casts: Wade has just as much talent around him (Caron Butler, Lamar Odom, Eddie Jones, Brian Grant) as 'Melo has (Camby, Nene, Lenard, Boykins, Miller). Yet Denver has a .552 winning percentage and Miami is at .431.
razazteca Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 The reason for Wade not making the All-Star team was because he was injuried proned for several weeks.
Spicy McHaggis Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Are we having this discussion? LeBron = ROTY.
Steviekick Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 I second Lebron as ROTY. But I think Carmelo was a close second and will be greater in the long run.
The Electrifyer Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Cleveland is doing great now. They're playing good and winning games, if they can keep it up and make the playoffs, I definately see Lebron and Rookie of The Year. I can't wait till a few years down the line to see how this year's rookie class have matured. Guys like James, Mello, Wade, Bosh and Hinrich can develop into major talents.
Guest Redhawk Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 LeBron would be my ROTY pick also, I was just saying that Anthony is better than Wade. Â All-Rookie Team (there's usually 6 people on this team, right?) ======================================== LeBron James Carmelo Anthony Dwyane Wade Chris Bosh Josh Howard T.J. Ford
The Electrifyer Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 I think the rookie team is a 5 people team. A centre, two guards and two forwards.
Guest Redhawk Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 I think the rookie team is a 5 people team. A centre, two guards and two forwards  You're half right. I just looked it up, and last year's All-Rookie first team had five players, but none of them were guards. It was Nene, Drew Gooden, Yao Ming, Amare Stoudemire and Caron Butler.
The Electrifyer Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Oh, I guess it's just the top 5 then. Thats what it should be for the All-Defensive Team too.
Vern Gagne Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Nets at Wolves. Tonight. Â Only the 2nd Western Conference team the Nets have played on their 13 game winning streak. Also the first of the Big 5.
alfdogg Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 1) Compare the numbers.... Carmelo: 19.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.3 steals, 42% FG, 32% 3-Pt, 75% FT.  Wade: 17 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.4 steals, 47% FG, 33% 3-Pt, 71% FT.  2) Look at the All-Star factor: Everyone was saying 'Melo should have been on the All-Star team, but I didn't hear anyone arguing for Wade. Yet Denver has a .552 winning percentage and Miami is at .431. 1) Wade isn't the go-to-guy on Miami either, it's Odom. Also, Wade came in as the third or maybe even fourth option on offense, whereas Carmelo has been the #1 guy all season for Denver. Wade would be averaging 20 a game easy if he was the #1 option.  2) I, for one, was not arguing for Carmelo Anthony, in fact I thought Andre Miller was more deserving of a spot. And Carmelo's crop was, IMO, the easier one to crack...once you get past KG, Duncan, Peja and Elton Brand, none of those other guys are as good as any of the guards you named, save for Houston, Billups and Stackhouse (who was hurt, otherwise not him either).  3) I may give you Jones over Lenard, even though he's having a subpar season. However, Butler has been a bust since coming back form his injury, Brian Grant, as much as I like the guy, isn't even on the same planet as Nene, Camby has stayed healthy and done just as much as Odom has, and Miller and Boykins are arguably the best point guard tandem in the league. I think Carmelo's cast has been far more consistent.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Wade has missed a bunch of games this season with injury too
Ripper Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Wade is an irratic shooter that plays like a rookie. A very talented rookie, but a rookie just the same. Carmelo has shown a hell of alot more poise in a tougher conference. Â Don't get me wrong, Dwayne Wade is pretty damn good, but Carmelo is better. Â And he is scoring option 2 at least, most of the time number one since he is the guy with the ball.
Mr. S£im Citrus Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Todd Damn, the Nuggets just got jobbed.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Im trying to get stats on the Utah/Seattle game and nobody has em.
alfdogg Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 I should point out that the Knicks are now 1-4 since trading Van Horn.
Vern Gagne Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Two good games tonight. San Antonio vs Dallas, and Los Angeles vs Sacramento. Â Portland is only 2 games behind Denver for the 8th spot. Denver's lost 4 straight, but getting rid of the cancer Wallace is what turned Portland's season around.
razazteca Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 I predict Spurs 95 Mavs 89 and Lakers 102 Kings 99.
Cuban Linx Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 I've liked what Portland have done this year, they've got rid of the cancers and troublemakers in Wallace, Bonzi Wells and Jeff McInnes (and Ruben Patterson will be gone probably after this season as well), and in the process have managed to turn things around. Â Ratliff especially has been a great pickup, the Blazers have sucked at center pretty much since around 2000, he's a big improvement over Dale Davis and has been a shot-blocking machine since coming to Portland (even more so than he usually is). Not to mention Abdur-Rahim adds plenty as well, right now giving them a great player coming off the bench (a Portland player not whining about playing time, wonders never cease). Â Looks like the consecutive playoff appearance record is back on the cards, but i wouldn't count of the Nuggets to keep on losing as of late, although it'd be nice.
Guest OctoberBlood Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 Great game going on between Spurs and Mavs right now.
Vern Gagne Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 It's such a huge plus having a full roster in Minnesota. Olawokandi gives the team a true C, and someone better when Garnett needs to rest. Hudson and Szerbiak give the team scoring, but also allow Cassell and Sprewell on back to back games, or 5 games 7 nights, to be off and it not hurt the team.
razazteca Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 Not looking good for Spurs with Tim Duncan getting a quad injury in the game. The team NEEDS to get Rasho to shoot more, 3 attempts is not acceptable. The only good from this game is that now we know who are the shooters on the team. The bad is that only TWO players (Turkaglu and Rose) scored double digits other than Duncan. Well at least the bench players got to play in a playoff caliber game and Devin Brown can be something special if the coaching staff can get him to make high percentage shots.
Guest Mindless_Aggression Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 I'm shocked the Lakers are having as much trouble as they are with a broken down Sacto team. Peja is going nuts but still.
