Guest JumpinJackFlash Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 I'm sick of this shit. Stupid people on Spike TV and USA say they're going to show something uncut, and its edited. What the hell is up with this? Scarface was going to be shown "uncut" on USA tonight, but it was edited. Its just plain stupid trying to watch edited Scarface. ex: Shut the ____ up you mother _____! Shut the up your mother?! That doesn't make any sense. And what's worse is when Spike TV says they're going to show Star Trek uncut. Hello? Dumbasses! Star Trek debuted on TV, so it had to be made for TV viewing, so of course its going to be uncut. Its like showing the Care Bears uncut. Plus, it's not uncut since its not in its original aspect ration and it has commercials in between. Everyone, if you want to see UNCUT movies, watch Turner Classic Movies. Its one of my favorite channels. I feel that Spike TV thinks we're stupid. Them saying its UNCUT, and showing it edited, but making us believe its UNCUT is just a big FUCK YOU to all those who contribute to their ratings. Spike TV claims to be the first network for men, but actually they're the first network for pussy executives. I just want to storm raid Spike TV and punch everyone in the face! Who's with me?
Guest T®ITEC Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 Just calm down and buy Scarface on DVD. Really.
Ravenbomb Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 Its just plain stupid trying to watch edited Scarface. not stupid, hilarious
Tawren Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 Its like showing the Care Bears uncut. Have you HEARD the mouth on that lion?
razazteca Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 Its an improvement considering what USA did to the FRIDAY movie. Chris Tucker got edited the Heck Up MAN~
Kahran Ramsus Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 Star Trek debuted on TV, so it had to be made for TV viewing, so of course its going to be uncut. Shows will get cut in syndication. The Simpsons is probably most notable for this, but it happens in other shows too.
Guest Sturgis Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 Let's explain the difference between uncut and UNCENSORED Uncut: The movie in it's entirity. Every scene is shown no matter of its unimportance or nature. Remember movies on TV have to be cut due to time restraints, so they cut unimportant or graphic scenes out. UnCENSORED: All swear words will be said without editing. Fuck, Shit, Goddamn, Pussy, Asshole, etc. This is also a way to get ratings sense some can't tell the difference.
WrestlingDeacon Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 I wanted to throw in to say that Sturgis' explanation is correct. Uncut simply means that no scened have been left out. As mentioned, both Star Trek and the Simpsons have horribly cut versions in syndication as do most shows. The idea is that you can cram more commercials in with less show and make more money. For movies, they are mostly cut so they will fit in neat two hour blocks. In fact, some films have scenes added to stretch them out and some films have different scenes shown on television taking the place of what was shown in the theater do to either content or length.
BlackFlagg Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 only uncensored movie I've seen on reg TV/Cable was SouthPark movie, but they had to wait till like 1 in the morning to air it.

I would like to throw in to say that they aren't exactly "cut" but sped up during non-talking points to cut off a few seconds here and there.
WrestlingDeacon Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 I would like to throw in to say that they aren't exactly "cut" but sped up during non-talking points to cut off a few seconds here and there. That's extremely rare from what I've heard and hard to figure out as it alters the running time and can cause the core of the film to be disjointed. I can't site a specific example of a film that does this on regular t.v., but would like to know of one. Many sites, such as imdb, lists the differences between versions and note what scenes or parts of scenes are cut completely or edited down. Mostly, it's cutting parts out.
MrRant Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 TV shows is what I am talking about. Watch ST:TNG on Spike.
the pinjockey Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 My problem with the UNCUT movies is the fact they just have silence over the swears. It is much more fun to listen to edited dialogue, than listen to blank spots. :weeps for the day Dorn's "What's the matter little lady, can't you take a freaking joke." is taken out of Major League:
treble Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 This is why I love CityTV. Showcase, too.
Guest El Satanico Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 I find it funny that someone would bother with Scarface on a non pay channel. I also find it funny that someone would believe that fucking Scarface would be uncensored on a non pay channel.
JHawk Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 I can't say I disagree with JumpinJackFlash here. It's grossly and intentionally misleading. However, if the swearing was silenced, then didn't they technically cut something out of the show? Still, stick with the DVD version.
Guest El Satanico Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 No it's still part of the movie...it's just muted Anyone who honestly believes Scarface won't have censored language on Cable, deserves to be misled.
cbacon Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 The worst is the editing with Dumb and Dumber on TBS. They cut out Jeff Daniels line "We called it a bull-shits" before he starts laughing hysterically. Instead we get: Daniels: We're gonna specialize in dog breeding. Holly: Oh, any unsual breeds? Daniels: Well we once sucessfully bred a Bulldog and a Shitzu *cue hysterical laughing WITHOUT the "bull-shits" line*
kkktookmybabyaway Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 It seems like TBS and TNT are the worst when it comes to editing movies, although if I want to see a movie, I pop in a DVD...
the pinjockey Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 Yippee-Ki-Yay Mister Falcon I am surprised SpikeTV hasn't tried what Comedy Central did over the summer with South Park. It seems like the perfect marketing plan, for what they are going after.
Guest El Satanico Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 Being under the CBS umbrella may be why SpikeTV doesn't do like Comedy Central did with South Park: BL&U.
Guest Fook Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 This is why I love CityTV. Showcase, too. Amen to that
Guest JMA Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 Anyone see the edited version of Weird Science today on Comedy Central? "Air-head." "Goof off." "Kicked me in the guts."
The Mandarin Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 This is why I love CityTV. Damn, you stole my post. They aired the Shining a few weeks ago, and they only had to wait until 9 to uncensor it. Same with Fight Club. Damn, they always have great movies. Tomorrow, Breakfast Club at 4 pm. Awesome.
Karnage Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 They aired the Shining a few weeks ago, and they only had to wait until 9 to uncensor it. Same with Fight Club. Was Fight Club stretched out vertically to fit the whole screen? It sure looked like it.

Lloyd: "Right on my ASS after you kiss it!" TBS version Harry: "You just tell me where to sign, pal." Lloyd: "Right on my SANDWICH after you kiss it!"
Just John Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 Has anyone seen the FX version of American Pie? The voice overs are horrible... Real: Shit break TV: Stink break Real: There is a gorgeous woman masturbating on my bed TV: (while mouthing the same line) Jackpot! Or Die Hard w/a Vengeance Real: I hate Niggers TV: I hate everyone (come on, couldn't they get away with saying blacks or African Americans?)
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 UnCENSORED: All swear words will be said without editing. Fuck, Shit, Goddamn, Pussy, Asshole, etc. you can't say etc. on TV anymore?
Slayer Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 you can't say etc. on TV anymore? Dammit, you know things are bad when you see little kids walking down the street with their underwear hangin out of their pants and saying "etc." all the time
