i remember a thunder in october 99 where nash did commentary. He said that "half the guys didn't show up tonight so we had to book on the fly" which was funny considering it was right before russo came in and Nash was probably one of the guys booking.

Someone explain to me how Scott Hall is a better athlete then RVD? Better worker? Yes. Better athlete? No.

RVD does somethings in the ring other guys can't do. He never seems to get tired. He never gets injured and the guy can stretch the hell out of his body. That's why Angle (being a true athlete) said that about RVD.

Don't try to use the arguement "RVD has got lazy" either.

That's why I wouldn't like to see Nash on commentary. I think he'd make too many shoot comments to play up his buddies and bury anyone who didn't have his tongue up Vince's ass.

Just because Hall's best > RVD's best doesn't mean he's the better worker. RVD has been more consistent over the years, and has remained over while being depushed for years.

checks SmartMarks Universal praise for Kevin Nash...Rampant insulting of Kurt Angle...checks watch to see if time has stood still...

It was bound to happen. Bret, Shawn, Austin, Triple H, they all went through this. Once a wrestler begins to get a little stale, we gut and rip them apart like fish.

I think the last time Nash did commentary was with Shawn Michaels during a Booker T KOTR match on Raw. He kept impersonating Jim Ross and accused Booker T of gimmick infringement when he did a spin kick while Michaels, also doing a JR impression, demanded Booker get his own material.

And yeah, Hall did one of my favourite Stunner sells at WMX8, but his unprofessional behaviour and general bad matches made me feel silly for all the marking out over his return I did on IRC.

Angle:Ric Flair is the greatest wrestler of all time.

Angle: I think Chris Benoit is the greatest wrestler never to hold a World Championship.

The title win was never recognized. The decision was reversed the next night due to Sid's leg being in the ropes when he tapped to the Crossface. If WWE recognizes it, big whoop. The fact that they bought WCW doesn't mean shit in this situation.

Shows how much that idiot knows about wrestling.. you should apply that to yourself...

Maybe Nash thought he meant best crackhead/drunk to never hold a major championship--oh wait, Roberts has Hall beat.

Surprised that Vince hasn't given in and re-signed Nash's drinking buddy.

RVD, the pot head, gets all this praise. Yet Scott Hall has a drinking problem and he's a horrible person.

Don't think RVD has ever showed up unable to work, had to be kicked out of an airport or been thrown in jail before...

So, he hides his habit better. That makes him a better person? Whatever.

He'd be a better color man then Lawler.

Lets face it - as of recently, Billy Kidman would be a better colour commentator than Lawler.

Eh? What discussion are you having, vivisectvi? Because I think you're the only one having it.

Angle: True. I think Chris Benoit is the greatest wrestler never to hold a World Championship. But if you’re talking about overall athlete, I would say RVD is.

Owen Hart or Dynamite Kid

Definitely Owen Hart. But that's just me.

My memory goes out from time to time, so refresh it for me, please....

When Benoit, while being managed by Shane, was feuding with The Rock, didn't Benoit win the title, or is that just my imagination? For some reason I have the memory of Benoit walking down the ramp at the PPV where they faced each other (Backlash?) with the title belt.

But I'm probably wrong.

Benoit had 2 "Dusty finish" title wins that became losses. First at Fully Loaded 2000 in a match against the Rock where the title could change hands on DQ, Shane (Benoit's manager) knocked out the ref with a chair, and then put it in Rock's hands, so Rock got DQed, Benoit allegedly won the title but Commisioner Foley said the match must continue, and Benoit lost clean.

Then, at Unforgiven 2000 it got even screwier because in a 4 way, no DQ match between Benoit/Rock/Undertaker/Kane, Benoit legally hit Taker with a chair and pinned him clean to allegedly win the title again but Commisioner Foley again deemed the match must continue since Taker's feet were on the ropes.

In the context of "Athlete" than RVD is better than Hall. Most of us are assuming, however, that the POINT of the question was who was the best WRESTLER. If not, than I'd say False anyway because Michael Jordan never won the WWE title. In the context of wrestling, Hall was miles ahead of where RVD is.

RVD is an amazing athlete with some spectacular spots, and he's a lot of fun to watch when he's in the ring. But he has no concept of what makes a good WRESTLING match. He never sells for more than 3 minutes, has no psychology to his moves, and basically gives fans no reason to care about him other than the spots he's going to do in the match. Van Dam wants to be an action movie star, not tell a story in the ring. RVD is a better gymnast, he's a better athlete, but Hall understood wrestling, even if he chose not to care about it in his last few years. RVD has never shown he has.

Scott Hall was ok in his prime and he only busted his ass when he was facing a Kliq buddy.RVD when he is motivated could have more entertaining matches with anyone, as long as is a no holds barred match. But not for nothing RVD is still way more over with the marks than Da Bad guy ever was.

Ok, seriously.. if any one of you that posted in this thread ever bitch in a OAO Raw thread or some such about RVD being wasted or held down.. fuck you. However, I'm assuming none of you ever have or you'd be dirty hypocrites, and it's the other 1/2 of the board that didn't post here that does that.. right?

RVD doesn't let it get completely out of control.

I don't agree with either but Hall is worse.

At least Hall can buy his habit legally....

Wasn't Hall more than just booze?

Unless you consider faux-kickboxing to be a competitive sport, RVD is hardly an athlete at anything.

I guess if I had to pick a sport for him, it'd be a gymnastics, but that's only a small part of his showman act and the cruiser bump machines are doing that better.

When Hall was younger and clean, he could work a match. His selling was there although it was pretty goofy and I'm not saying he was Dynamite Kid or anything, but the pacing and flow was solid. By comparison, RVD is practically a burden on whoever he's wrestling with, and he's only recently paid any attention to selling.

I still don't see the selling over than trying to get his own finisher over.

A-Train is more appealing on commentary then LAWLER.

But yes, I do see your point. If Nash has to be on TV, at least make it constructive, Vince.

In the match with HHH that ended with the DDT on the stage I thought he was paying more attention to selling, but maybe he was just exhausted, I don't know.

I liked that match, though it mostly got shit on here.

I love this excuse.

HHH didn't get a little bit stale.

He put on 25 pounds of muscle and became slow and boring.

The match where they worked his leg for 10 minutes and he jut got back up?

And then used leg offense for the entirety of the finish.

That'd be the one.
