Guest Jimbo Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 Anyone else a fan of the ridiculously good fast food of Checkers? It's sorta expensive, and usually you've gotta wait for an hour for service when it's busy, but those fries are pretty friggin' good My only complaint: the garbage of making people way outside in the cold for their food is NOT cool.
Guest Jimbo Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 not really sure to be honest, but I think it's spreading from the South East US
Nighthawk Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 In the west it's called Raleys, or Ralleys, something like that.
Papacita Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 My only complaint: the garbage of making people way outside in the cold for their food is NOT cool. Most of them do have drive-thru and indoor ordering from what I've seen. Yeah, Checkers has the best fries out of all of the fast food chains, IMO. I've been a fan of them for the longest. I really don't know the specifics of their location, as they've been here in Philly since at least 91 or 92, but I've got some friends from Baltimore who had never heard of them before coming up here.
B. Brian Brunzell Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 There were Checker's in the Chicago area for quite a long time. I think they've switched to Rally's though. Still, Checkers=Best. Fries. Ever.
Guest Skironox Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 In the west it's called Raleys, or Ralleys, something like that. No, Raleys is a supermarket around here. Maybe Ralphs?
Nighthawk Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 That's the spelling problem, the fast food place and the grocery store have the same name but a different spelling. Actually Ralph's is a grocery store in souther cali too.
DerangedHermit Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 Checkers is freakin' awesome...one of the ones I go to (Bay Shore, NY) is eat-in (with a lot of room - I believe it's the first Checkers eat-in). Checkers' fries = mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....
Guest El Satanico Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 Rally's is indeed the other name for Checkers. But I'm not sure how the name is divided. Florida has Checkers...Ohio has Rally's. I guess Checkers is East Coast, while Rally's is West and Midwest.
The Czech Republic Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 There used to be a Checkers in Palatine, IL,but I heard they had some problems with food poisoning and shut down. Between that and the Brown's Chicken murders which have been ten years already, wow...not a good record for the City That Rocks.
Vyce Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 If any fast food joint deserves an appreciation thread, it's this one. I've been pimping Checkers and their fries for years. I'm glad others have caught on!
The Czech Republic Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 If any fast food joint deserves an appreciation thread, it's this one. Never been to Portillo's, have we

Guest ABOBO Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 ABOBO LIKES CHECKERS, ESPECIALLY RED ONES. ABOBO NO LIKE CHINESE CHECKERS, ABOBO HUNGARY AGAIN TWO HOURS LATER.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 Florida has Checkers...Ohio has Rally's. I guess Checkers is East Coast, while Rally's is West and Midwest. Every city in Florida which I've been in has Checkers, except for the one I live, which has Rallys. Whatever it's called, I can't stand it, though my stomach's been having trouble handling most fast food for a couple of years now.
Papacita Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Actually, I think we had a Rally's here in Philly for a while. I never went there though, but I used to pass it whenever I went around my aunt's house.
