The newest rumored return for WMXX

I don't see why it would be good to stack WM XX with a bunch of "dream matches" - considering that "WM XX" alone will draw in 90% of the audience, why would putting all your eggs in one basket be a good thing? Especially when a show like Backlash - which tends to get low(er) buyrates - can be used to house one-or-two matches (esp. since it's a RAW PPV where you can do Steamer/Flair). Of course, I think the WM "cut" has something to do with it :)

Because the entire idea of a supercard is to make it a card for the super (best) matches available.

But WM XX is already a "supercard" - why make a match like Steamboat/Flair the 4th important match on the "big" card when you could maximize it's worth by making it 2nd most important and the "smaller" card? It's just poor match making.

WM X-7 is considered one of the greatest PPV's of all time; every match wasn't a "big" match. Usually, the "biggest" shows have 2 or 3 matches and that's it. Then you just support it with a solid undercard.

The problem with that is.....smarks complain about the show before it happens :)

Personally, I'd rather see Steamboat appear at WMXX and he can work up a babyface group to feud with Evolution for some months. Drawing younger people into the feud will make people who weren't watching in 1986 care about it while still keeping the history behind it.

Then Steamboat & Flair can fight each other to double retirement at Summerslam and have their match at a big stadium show.

Backlash is only like two weeks after Mania, dude. I guess if you wanted to throw out the stable and cut to the chase, sure.

But I guarantee you the vast majority of people in the building (usually the same people who think that women's wrestling started with Sable) are going to sit on their hands.

But Steamboat/Flair doesn't really need build up. They have years of history together. All the WWE has to do is bring out ~THE FOOTAGE~ to tell the fans who don't know, that Flair and Steamboat fighting is "HISTORIC" and "IF YOU DIDN'T SEE IT THEN, YOU CAN SEE IT NOW - FOR THE LAST TIME." Quite frankly, it's the type of feud that is meant for a short period of time - or else it would lose its appeal.

Ya know....I want that match....and I want so many more matches. There's just not enough damn time. They need to make it an all day wrestlefest or something. But then....that'd be exhausting....

Steamboat at WMXX?

:headbang: :headbang: :D :D :D :) :) :headbang: B-)

Plus all these other matches......

Wrestlemania 20 will be the greatest Wrestlemania of all time!

I am a big Ricky Steamboat fan but the man hasn't wrestled a match in a decade. And while the chemistry between Flair and him has always been marvelous, I would think the accumulated ring rust would be a lot to overcome.

Or could they possibly do a special attraction match on Raw between Flair and Steamboat? Then build an angle out of it towards the WMXX match. If Steamer can still go in the ring...make the match . If not, Steamboat could be in someone's corner.

Good wrestling usually consists of Bret Hart, Ric Flair, Chris Benoit, and Kurt Angle.

Get Kurt Angle out of that list, and it's fine.

LMFAO

Who says these guys are going to wrestle?

It is possible it could just be like the Oscars, where the guys walk out and wave before Randy Orton runs in and RKO's everyone in the ring.

I'm talking Hogan, Savage, Hart, Steamboat, Flair, Animal, Snuka, Foley, and anyone else you can think.

It would take about 30 minutes and if that didn't get Orton over as a monster heel and legend killer then nothing will. Plus, it can symbolize the younger generation pushing the old generation out the door.

Of course, that would suck and be wrong.

But it's an idea

If Randy Orton RKO's Ricky Steamboat, I'm going to go postal on someone! :firing: :firing: :firing: :firing:

DJ Jeff lives!

Who's DJ Jeff? And was that a positive comment or a negatie comment?

DJ Jeff was the alias of a famous crazy guy in Mexico who raped and then ate babies. Whether or not it's a compliment is up to you

And he was a member of this forum?

The latest on what could be the biggest PPV ever...

Vince McMahon is extremely focused on making WrestleMania XX the most significant event in wrestling history, topping WrestleMania I, X, and the first Clash of the Champions.

As reported, WrestleMania XX will be five hours. The show will feature roughly four hours of wrestling with an hour of special video packages looking back at WrestleMania history mixed in. WWE's production crew is looking at this opportunity as their ultimate showcase.

Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg in a Champion vs. Champion match appears to be a lock right now, assuming nobody gets injured. Same goes for Kane vs. The Undertaker. WWE also wants to do Triple H vs. Mick Foley but a deal has not been agreed upon between Foley and WWE yet.

Vince McMahon vs. Steve Austin has also been penciled in as Austin has expressed interest in returning for that match. Although whether it happens will depend on how his neck feels in a few months. The only other high calibar match worth Austin returning for would be against Goldberg or Hulk Hogan, and it doesn't appear as if those would work out.

The Rock has made it known that he will only return for something "special." Kurt Angle seems to be the only major player available right now without a match, but it is unlikely the Rock would return for a match with Angle. If WWE can't find a "special" way to use him, he may just end up doing a cameo appearance.

WWE is strongly interested in doing a Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat match. Steamboat retired in 1994 but has expressed interest in returning for one last match against Flair.

With Randy Savage being featured in the latest issue of Smackdown Magazine, talk has come up again regarding him being involved at WMXX. In an ideal situation, WWE would want to run Hogan vs. Savage as the final conclusion to the WWE careers of two of WrestleManias past headliners. Of course, Hogan and Savage hate each other in real life, Hogan is on bad terms with McMahon right now, and McMahon has insisted that he won't ever bring Savage back (of course, he said the same thing about Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, Kevin Nash, etc).

The feeling is that WWE will also be able to get Bret Hart to return, at least to make an appearance, at the show. There has also been talk of bringing in the original WrestleMania I crew (Roddy Piper, Mr. T, Paul Orndorff, Jimmy Snuka, and Bob Orton, Jr.) for special appearances.

There is some concern that if Steve Austin decides not to wrestle, a "special" opponent can't be found for the Rock, and past stars such as Hogan, Savage, Steamboat, and Hart don't decide to return, that the show won't live up to the huge expectations.

Hmmm, why not?

Its WM20..... it would make the night that much more special if some old faces showed up. Its not like they HAVE to wrestle.

Yes. I would not mind seeing these faces showing up as guests, not as in ring performers (unless we have another gimmick battle royal, I enjoyed it the first time).

It would not hurt to have Bret Hart give a farewell speech or have Ricky Steamboat be the special ref for a title match.

I agree that they shouldn't be thinking "hey, lets load up the card with legends matches". But honestly I think I would rather see Steamboat/Flair match, then a Nathan Jones, Mark Henry, or Matt Morgan wrestle.........

Hey, there's an idea! Have Randy come out and RKO his own father! If that doesn't get him some heat it will at least be pretty damn funny.

That's not too cool of the Rock to only come back for a "special" opponent, as if Mania 20 isn't a "special" event on its own. Last year people were mad at HHH for "settling" for Booker T at Mania, how is Rock considering a match with Angle as "settling" any different, provided he even goes through with it?
