Vern Gagne Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 It was in last week's issue. Good choice IMO.
sfaJack Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 I don't think I could agree more. Both guys are class acts, and deserve all the success they have had. Bravo, David and Tim. And bravo for SI as well. Great choice.
Ripper Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Bah, that one was too easy. They should have picked Rasheed Wallace...that would have had the people talking.
Guest Choken One Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Who was it that compared Duncan to Hannibal Letcher? That they were talented and smart but no one really knew anything about them. There's something "iffy" about T.D man... We thought KOBE was a nice guy too...
alfdogg Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Bah, that one was too easy. They should have picked Rasheed Wallace...that would have had the people talking. Rasheed IS a sportsman. He always makes sure to note that BOTH TEAMS PLAYED HARD~!

Good pick though.....FOR NOW~!
kkktookmybabyaway Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Couldn't they have just picked one? Feels like that year Hill and Kidd got Co-Rookies of the Year...

Agent_Bond34 Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Couldn't they have just picked one? Feels like that year Hill and Kidd got Co-Rookies of the Year... Heh That is probably gonna end up happening this year, too with James and Anthony.

Heh That is probably gonna end up happening this year, too with James and Anthony. Despite Chris Bosh and Jarvis Hayes being the ones that will probably deserve it.
Agent_Bond34 Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Despite Chris Bosh and Jarvis Hayes being the ones that will probably deserve it. Yeah, something like that.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Despite Chris Bosh and Jarvis Hayes being the ones that will probably deserve it. Yeah, something like that. Who?...
Ripper Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Despite Chris Bosh and Jarvis Hayes being the ones that will probably deserve it. Yeah, something like that. Who?... Chris Bosh plays for the Raptors. After a slow start to the season(and playing off the bench) he is averaging 13.3 points and 9.0 rebounds since the Antonio Davis/Jerome Williams Jalen Rose deal and 11.6 points and 7 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game overall. I'm just bullshitting about Hayes though. Anthony and James are both playing great but I think that Chris Bosh, with his new role, would be giving them a run for their money. Of course, you can guess how many votes HE is going to get.
2GOLD Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Does anyone really take this award seriously anymore? SI usually makes the easiest picks or the stupidest picks they can think of. I liked the Robinson story but wasn't he out most of the year?
CanadianChris Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Actually, I figured they'd go with the even easier Annika Sorenstam story. They surprised me a bit with this one.
Guest Mindless_Aggression Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Jarvis Hayes doesn't have any form of shot at the Rookie Of the Year. Well I guess theres a chance but unlikely. I'd still say Anthony and Bron are having better years than Bosh up to this point but no question, he's playing a lot better than anyone expected I'd say. I'm gonna say Lebron plays at an even higher level with Ricky Davis gone frankly and Carmello is becoming 20 points guaranteed every night. Don't think Bosh is gonna have a shot but still one of the better rookie classes in some time. Hell, Dwayne Wade too, he's playing good ball. SI shoulda just given it to Robinson. Even when arguing with officials, all he says is "Golly gee, I disagree, God Bless" then walks away.

And Tim Duncan just a few weeks ago SHOVED a ref to the ground for no reason and screamed TAKE THAT BITCH~!, grabbed his nuts and spit...SPIT on the poor man forcing the league to suspend him(I'm guessing thats what happend). Is that SPORTSMAN OF THE YEAR contender. Well...IS IT? And Jarvis is having a bad December, but he had an outside chance. Chris Bosh has been playing great these past few games, the question is who will make it over the midseason hump. I think Darko will come from the rear like Freakin Sea Biscuit and still this shit.

Guest Mindless_Aggression Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Tim Duncan is WILD AND UNPREDICTABLE. I'd seriously love it if he came out with the Rodman hair or the Anthony Mason hair at least. Fuck the establishment, Tim Funkin has arrived.
razazteca Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Tim Duncan should put his championship rings on his middle fingers and during press conferences Tim could show who is #1.
Slayer Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 And as for Robinson, how long will it be after he's retired until somebody comes out and accuses him of assorted misdeeds (whether true or false), á la Kirby Puckett
Steve J. Rogers Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 Couldn't they have just picked one? Feels like that year Hill and Kidd got Co-Rookies of the Year... The day after that was announced, I heard a prominent sports network head honcho (HBO Sports) speculate about how much Jason Kidd actually won by considering how much the NBA was pimping Grant Hill as the "Next Big Thing" at the time Steve
