You Dumb Bitch

Recommended Posts

WESTON, Fla. - A mother of three got a lot more than she ordered at a McDonald's drive-thru. Janice Meissner ordered a bagel and a Diet Coke for breakfast last week, but when she got her food bag it seemed "super heavy."

That was because it had hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in a sealed plastic bag — money that turned out to be the restaurant's bank deposit.

McDonald's officials, who wouldn't say exactly how much was involved, said the deposit was placed in a food bag as a security procedure to make it less conspicuous before it was taken to the bank.

They said it was accidentally left too close to the drive-thru window of the Weston fast-food chain.

"Someone didn't check twice before sending it out the window, obviously," said spokeswoman Beth Plotkin.

Meissner, who had just dropped off her 5-year-old daughter at preschool, paused for a moment before backing up her minivan to the pickup window and returning the money to the employee who handed her the bag.

"I said, `Do you want to know what was in this bag?'" Meissner recalled. "She turned white as a ghost. She didn't realize the money was missing yet. She thanked me. And that was that."

McDonald's officials said Thursday they are going to send Meissner a thank-you letter and $50 in gift certificates.

I would have looked, saw the money... and got the FUCK out of there.

You know that if you did that, there are security cameras that would pick up your car, your face, and probably your license plate number, right?

You really wouldn't have much time to spend that money.

What McDonalds do you go to? The one I go and (have a friend that works there) to only has a camera watching the cash register at the drive-in. You may see a face but no license plate.

I'd be out of there.

It wouldn't matter if they had cameras. The article said that the employees didn't realize the money was gone. By the time they figured it out, I'm guessing enough time would have passed for any of several cars to be the culprit.

If they catch you, you come up with the famous, "I got mugged on the way home, and those fuckers too my breakfast, how was I supposed to know what was in the bag, sorry!"

If you were to take the evil route and keep the money, how would you go about hiding it and being inconspicuous about it?

You sure as hell couldn't walk into your bank and deposit $100K+ in cash without sending up several red flags

There wasn't that much in the bag. The article just said "hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars." I want to see the McD's that has $100K to put in the deposit bag in one day.

Now THIS is why I love being a criminal justice major. According to the laws we got up here in NY. That women could have kept the money and if so SHE'D HAVE DONE NOTHING LEGALLY WRONG! the money was handed to her, she didn't take it via illegal means or by using any type of force or coersion. It would just have been a very big "oops" by one of the employees and one less person working there the next day when the higher ups found out. :P

It's incredibly easy to cover up the illicit gain of a thousand dollars or so. Just go to Vegas, or anywhere that's got some nice big casinos, spend a little time and money there, and then come out and report to the IRS that your (otherwise illegally gained) new monies are gambling wins.

Couldn't you just spend the money slowly? I find it unlikely that someone's going to investigate my every sandwich purchase, nor would they find it suspicious when I upgraded my choice of 40s from King Cobra to Old English. Any potential problem would come from making some sort of major investment, such as a car or a brothel.

I still don't see the problem with her doing the right thing.......

Sadly, I'm with you. I'd feel guilty if I took it.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for that woman for actually returning the money. She must be a very good, honest person, and deserves more than fifty fucking dollars in gift certificates. That being said... I would have kept it. I may have felt guilty, but I probably wouldn't have time to with all the booze, weed, video games, etc. I would have bought with the money. That, and I'm broke as hell and need cash to fund my college and wrestling training, along with the aforementioned alcohol/drugs as well as cigarettes.
