Just got done watching that Raw from 97 where Paul Bearer revealed Undertaker's "secret"...you know, about him burning down the funeral home and killing his parents and all. It has a pretty funny fan run-in. As Bearer's coming down to the ring, the camera focuses on the floor, and you see some lady clutching at his ankle trying to take him down. She actually managed to get him down too before security got her. It was just so damn random.

I'm watching Fall Brawl 1995 as I type as I am copying it for Tawren. I find it quite funny that they are trying to sell Cobra as a CIA operative, and yet he was easily attacked from behind by Pittman.

Finally found Royal Rumble 92 and watched it last night. Better than I remembered.

 

It had a great HBK moment they DIDN'T show on last night's RAW, where Shawn said he saved Janetty from 29 other beatings (by throwing him through the Barber Shop window). Not as bad as the one HE gave him, mind you, but 29 other beatings nonetheless.

Just watched Great Sasuke vs Taka Michinoku from Canadian Stampede. That is one of my favorite matches of all time. The way they get the CALGARY(~!) crowd, who has no idea who they are, into the match by the end is just fantastic. I also watched the 10 man tag main event, and god damn that is lots of heat!

Just watched Triple H vs The Rock from SummerSlam 1998. Excellent ladder match, one of my favorites. This was their second best match vs each other, I feel, behind the ironman.

Just finished WMIII. EVERY match is at least solid to good or at least entertaining (midgets match)

Just finished watching Midnight Rockers vs Rose and Summers(sp?) from HBK's "From The Vault" DVD. I'm not much of a real old school fan, but this was great. Not the greatest match, but the emotion and the effectiveness of it all. The blood shedding really added to it.

Just watched Eddie Guerrero vs Chris Jericho from Insurrextion 2000. Excellent match, these two are great together, as evidenced by their great match at Fall Brawl 1997 also.

Kawada/Taue vs. Steven Williams/Big Boss Man 12/1/93

 

Kawada's leg is hanging by a thread, and the gagins don't hesitate to attack it without mercy. The injury also gives Williams and Bossman a focused offense during the body of the match, allowing them to use their time effectively. Of course, Kawada's offense is fantastic as usual.

 

Williams carries the load for his team, and while he isn't obviously as good as the other three, Bossman is still rather solid with selling. At this time he was better than Johnny Ace(Williams' future partner), so one can only ponder how good he could have got if he stayed in the All Japan setting. Taue is also good here, doing a good job of leading the Bossman through it, while putting over his punches.

 

Unlike 12/3/93, Kawada is able to make the tag, and Taue is able to survive long enough to buy him enough time to recover on the apron. Kawada is great during this segment, being very loud and vocal on the ring apron. Though Kawada is in too much pain to win the match, he is able to give Taue the opportunities he needs to pull off the victory. As with most All Japan tags, there's a ton of hot credible nearfalls down the final stretch.

 

After the match, Kawada gingerly limps away with a worried look on his face, setting up the main storyline for their upcoming match against Misawa/Kobashi, where he and Taue won't be as lucky. Not only does the match foreshadow the impending doom of the classic 12/3/93 tag match, it is also excellent in it's self. ****1/4

Kenta Kobashi vs Terry Gordy 6/8/93 from All Japan

 

There's nothing like watching some All Japan to get you into a wrestling mood. I loved this match. Great stuff.

 

Benoit vs Alex Wright WCWSN 96ish -- A little different than other matches as this turns more into a fight than a juniors match. This was a match in the mixed up "tournament" for the WCW lightheavyweight title.

That tournament was more disorganized than...something really disorganized.

 

 

Anyways, I've been watching a TV block of Shawn Micheals TWA. Something about American Dragon in a mask that makes me feel warm inside.

Wasn't that "double elimination"? There was no bracket. It seemed like Dean Malenko had 12 matches in the tournament while Ohtani(sp?) had one. And didn't Brad Armstrong actually eliminate Malenko from the tourney? They never announced when it would end. Malenko just seemed to show up with the belt after he beat Ohtani on Worldwide rendering the whole tournament concept pretty useless.
