Mrnoitaull Posted December 28, 2003 Report Posted December 28, 2003 Well Since he's done I figured I'd asked who do you think was his best album. Me personally, I think his first album"reasonable doubt was his best because before the hottest club bangers and "flossing" you had the pure new york rap skills spit in a flawless fifteen tracks. It really makes a turn for the term"Best for last"
Edwin MacPhisto Posted December 28, 2003 Report Posted December 28, 2003 The Blueprint, no question. Reasonable Doubt is great, but Blueprint is incredibly coherent, has his best production, his best rhymes, and remains his most mature and interesting album. It's one of my top 3 rap albums, period.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted December 28, 2003 Report Posted December 28, 2003 I'll also say Blueprint. Reasonable Doubt has rawer lyrics and better flow but I'll take experienced Jay over young Jay anyday. Plus the production on Blueprint is excellent and a few of the songs are some of Jay's best, period(Heart of the City,Renegade).
Steviekick Posted December 28, 2003 Report Posted December 28, 2003 I was thinking about picking up The Black Album. What do you guys think about it?
Edwin MacPhisto Posted December 28, 2003 Report Posted December 28, 2003 Go for it. I think you can make a strong case for it being his third-best album. "My 1st Song," "December 4th," "99 Problems," and "Allure" are as good as anything he's ever done. A couple of weak tracks spoil it from being 5-star stuff, but for the 9.99 it's selling for at places like Best Buy and Circuit City this week, it's absolutely worth it.
Steviekick Posted December 28, 2003 Report Posted December 28, 2003 Thanks for the confidence boost. I'll definitely now pick it up.
Guest Gatornibs Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 Black Album is 3rd best Jay Z album, great songs on it!
The Dames Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 I'm feeling the Lucifer track on The Black Album the most right about now. Dames
Guest TheArchiteck Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 I'm voting Reasonable Doubt......its a pure classic. On The Black Album, I can't get enough of Allure and Encore.
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 Same here, Dames. I would've liked that to be his next single but "Encore" is slowly growing on me. I like the video, as well. In Order: 1. Reasonable Doubt 2. The BluePrint 3. Hard Knock Life 4. The Black Album 5. In My Lifetime 6. Life And Times of S.Carter 7. BluePrint 2: Gift and the Curse 8. The Dynasty
B. Brian Brunzell Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 For me, it's a toss-up between Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint.
Steviekick Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 I just picked up The Black Album and I'm very impressed. Great stuff.
ant_7000 Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 Same here, Dames. I would've liked that to be his next single but "Encore" is slowly growing on me. I like the video, as well. The Dynasty I like Blueprint slightly better the Reasonable Doubt, but other that I would agree with your list.
