Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted January 5, 2004 I'm so happy that the Colts won. If I had to listen to another "expert" harping on how Manning can't win the big one I was going to rip someone's head off. Manning is the real "MVP" of the NFL and he proved it by not keeping the other team in the game like his Co-MVP.

I'm not going to rip a guy for throwing for over 300 yds. in a half and ending the game with a perfect passer rating. But McNair's horrible game got pretty glossed over on recaps. I heard very little about how Anthony Wright had a better game than him.

Manning is the real "MVP" of the NFL and he proved it by not keeping the other team in the game like his Co-MVP. easy on the peyton fellatio buddy THe thing is, he deserves it. For my money, JAMAL~! was the league MVP. But if you force me to pick between Manning and McNair, then it's Manning anyday. He was 2-0 against McNair and the Titans, which should count for something when an award like this is being considered, but obviously doesn't. Also, Tennessee was 3-0 without McNair, and while they wouldn't have done that well all season without him, he didn't have to play every game for the Titans to be winners. This is not to say that McNair didn't have a great season, because he certainly did. I just don't think he had an MVP season, even if the only two candidates are him and Peyton. And since I was one of the people who harped on Manning's lack of success in big games, I'll gladly take my hat off to him here. He played an incredible game, and the Colts easily dismantled a team that came into their house and humiliated them on national TV a few short weeks ago. Obviously, Tony Dungy and his staff did a good job, too.
ANKLELOCK 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2004 Yep. McNair has a horrid game. Manning has a God-like game. Now McNair is the overrated one. And Manning should have won the MVP. How fickle are you people?
HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2004 I never though Manning was overrated, besides the verbal BJ's to McNair just cause he played through injuries sickened me. I'm sure there are other players who play through injuries but don't get nearly the recognition as Mr. 70% McNair did. A perfect example, Laverneus Coles. Played injured the whole season but since his team didn't make the playoffs and he isn't a star, he gets practically no recognition for it.

If its between those two then yes, Manning should have won it McNair didn't even play every game I still believe Sean Salisbury stuffed the ballot box...or told people "You give the ballots to me and then I give them to the committe" and after they did so and left he gave a cynical laugh and changed the vote to McNair

How fickle are you people? God McNair was ALWAYS overrated. "WHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! STEVE-O PLAYS THROUGH PAIN!!!! MVP2003!!!" I would just like to say "Fuck Sean Salisbury and ESPN" because all they did since last year was fellate God McNair since he played hurt, BIG FUCKING DEAL! Guys get hurt all the time, but since God McNair is a QB(and a minority, to a lesser extent), they spend all their free time sucking him off and conveiniently ignoring when he fucks up or how HIS team won WITHOUT HIM. Co-MVP, my ass.

ANKLELOCK 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2004 Whether Sean Salisbury did that or not all I Know is that after the first 12-13 weeks of the season, McNair was pretty much everyone's MVP. Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted January 5, 2004 I thought Lewis' accomplishments playing in a shit offense in Baltimore were greater than Holmes. Ravens have a much better offensive line though, even though Orlando Brown is a dumbass he and John Ogdan make it absolutely impossible for anybody to penetrate from the outside and the Guards and Center are big too...the Chiefs don't have an outstanding O-Line IMO. Also the Chiefs were able to air it out so much because teams knew that Trent Green isn't going to complete every pass but Holmes will always hurt them. If Lewis didn't get to play against the Browns his yardage would have been very similiar to Holmes, yet Holmes had more recieving yards and more TDs. Holmes also was suppose to have suffered an injury similiar to Bo Jackson's and nobody thought he would play again coming into this year.

Actually week 12-13 I had Manning, Jamal Lewis, Ray Lewis, Stephen Davis, Priest Holmes, Dante Hall and someone else on my list well before McNair was even considered. Also the fact that his team won without him shows he's not an MVP.
Prime Time Andrew Doyle 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2004 One player who didnt seem to get any consideration for MVP was LaDainian Tomlinson. He rushed for over 1,600 yards, Caught 100 passes and accounted for 18 os San Diegos 38 TD's (13 Rushing, 4 Receiving & 1 Passing). The fact that he did for for the worst team in the leauge speaks volumes about hot good he is, yet because he did it for the worst team in the leauge, people hardly seemed to notice him as much as they did the other

Dr. Tom 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2004 One player who didnt seem to get any consideration for MVP was LaDainian Tomlinson. That's because he played for a shitty team. They still would have been shitty without him. For what it's worth, though, I did pick LT~! as my Offensive Player of the Year (didn't you know that my football column is back, under a different name?). He had a tremendous year, made even moreso when you consider that he played for a horrible team and ran behind a miserable offensive line. No one did more with less. Dr. Tom 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2004 I don't hate McNair, I just hate hearing all the announcers and ESPN personalities blow him every week even when he plays liek shit. Did you hear Stuart Scott yesterday? He hyped up McNair's play as the co-MVP, then said he had an "efficient" game. Yeah, because throwing thrice as many interceptions as TDs, and getting outplayed by Anthony Fucking Wright, is the model of efficiency... Yes, he's good. Yes, he's tough. Now get off his cock. Ravens have a much better offensive line though, even though Orlando Brown is a dumbass he and John Ogdan make it absolutely impossible for anybody to penetrate from the outside and the Guards and Center are big too Brown didn't start the whole year. Ethan Brooks, who sucks, started before Brown took over the job. Yes, the Ravens have a big offensive line, and overall it's good, but that's because the talent of Ogden and Brown pulls up average players like Flynn and Bennie Anderson. If Lewis didn't get to play against the Browns his yardage would have been very similiar to Holmes Uh, PRIEST~! played against the Browns, too. Just once, because it's a non-division game, but he did play against them. The Chiefs won big, and PRIEST~! had 92 yards on 19 carries, with 2 TD. A good game, certainly, but JAMAL~! absolutely abused the Browns, whose rushing defense wasn't as bad as he made it look. yet Holmes had more recieving yards and more TDs. Because the Chiefs' offense uses the running back in a more versatile role. JAMAL~! is good at catching passes out of the backfield, but he's not asked to do it very often in the Ravens' offense. Holmes also was suppose to have suffered an injury similiar to Bo Jackson's and nobody thought he would play again coming into this year. That has no bearing on someone being an MVP or not. Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted January 5, 2004 Well easier thing to answer is who would you rather have, Preist Holmes or Jamal Lewis? Personally I would rather have a back that can get into the endzone often than one who can run 2000 yards, if those yards don't end up with 6 points. Priest Holmes got in the endzone twice as much as Jamal and had 50 less carries. The MVP of the Ravens was the defensive squad which put most of the points on the board for them...MVP of the Chiefs was Priest, and in doing so I saw him as MVP of the League as well.
