DCMaximo 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2005 "1965" by the Afghan Whigs-not sure how it if I prefer it or not to "Black Love" just yet, but does confirm my suspicions that Greg Dulli is some kind of musical god. "Frosting On The Beater" by the Posies-well worth the £4 it cost, "Flavor Of The Month" being worth the cost by itself "The Trees Are Dead And Dried Out Wait For Something Wild" by Sikth-growing on me at the moment, although the single "How May I Help You?" is still the highlight "Smoking Guns And White Doves" by the AKA's-a fantastic hybrid of Devo, Refused and the Clash which is still danceable as fuck

Anorak 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2005 "Frosting On The Beater" by the Posies-well worth the £4 it cost, "Flavor Of The Month" being worth the cost by itself That whole album is great from start to finish. DCMaximo 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2005 "Frosting On The Beater" by the Posies-well worth the £4 it cost, "Flavor Of The Month" being worth the cost by itself That whole album is great from start to finish. I remember picking up Dear 23 for about £5 years and years ago for a Posies bargain of my own. The Posies are one of those bands I keep finding at bargain prices- my copy of "Amazing Disgrace" only cost me £3. Recent purchases while on holiday in Hungary: "The Big 3" by the 60ft Dolls- cost the equivalent of £2 and is far better than I was expecting, with "Pig Valentine" being a particular highlight "Aeromusical" by Superbus- cost less than £4, and was purely purchased due to the front cover. Musically, they seem perfectly acceptable, kind of a French No Doubt.

PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2005 People are starting to buy Sparks compilations. It begins. I got a promo copy of the new Residents, Animal Lover, and holy shit it's fantastic. Starts out like most of their newer stuff, but turns into a genuinely moving collection of haunting ballads. And I also got the reissued Not Available, and I think it's one of their best. Also, Swell - ...WELL? Coil - Gold is the Metal Slint - Spiderland (yeah so I'm slow) Bauhaus - Press The Eject and Give Me the Tape All in the very good-to-good bracket. The Best of The Vapors is merely ok, as if it would ever ascend higher, and as for Teenage Fanclub's Grand Prix, well I'm sure it's OK but I'm going to have to find a time to listen to it when there's no one around to laugh at me for listening to stuff that sounds like it sucks.
