EdwardKnoxII Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Huge Update On Chris Benoit's WWE Future What is planned for the Crippler? It is almost certain at this point that Chris Benoit will be moved to the RAW brand in a few weeks. The move may come as a result of Benoit winning the Royal Rumble and then demanding to face Triple H for the World Title at RAW. Triple H hand picked Benoit for the RAW jump because he feels that he and Benoit can have high quality matches at the tempo Triple H is able to handle. Benoit will not be pushed as RAW's top babyface (that spot is reserved for Shawn Michaels right now) but he will be given a main event program with Triple H and possibly the WrestleMania XX main event spot. WWE management also feels that Benoit will be able to come in and instantly help Randy Orton and Batista, two guys WWE is pushing for main event spots but feel are lacking in the ring. WWE considering moving John Cena to RAW but seemingly have decided on Benoit. Credit: Pro-Wrestling Torch Newsletter
Guest wildpegasus Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Is the Observer confirming any of this? So according to this, HHH handpicked Benoit to come over to Raw. If that's true, it speaks volumes. Basically, this news is just plain scary and nothing but.
Mecha Mummy Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 WWE management also feels that Benoit will be able to come in and instantly help Randy Orton and Batista, two guys WWE is pushing for main event spots but feel are lacking in the ring. Help? In what way? Like... training? *Chokes on his own hopeless optimism.*
The Ghost of bps21 Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Great! Come on in...job to HHH since he's run out of toys... then put over his talentless heatless followers
2GOLD Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Did the WWE just say that Randy Orton is lacking in the ring? Already, I now know this story is bs. The only thing HHH might have picked Crippler for is a pedigree into the mat.
EdwardKnoxII Posted January 21, 2004 Author Report Posted January 21, 2004 Either Benoit is jobbing to HHH at the main event at WM or he if does win he won't get to make HHH look bad in any way.
cbacon Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 he will be given a main event program with Triple H and possibly the WrestleMania XX main event spot. Well, at least there's this to get excited about it. Benoit in the main event of the 'biggest PPV of all time'. Who'da thunk.
RavishingRickRudo Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 No wrestling news has made me want to cry more than this...
The Ghost of bps21 Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 he will be given a main event program with Triple H and possibly the WrestleMania XX main event spot. Well, at least there's this to get excited about it. Benoit in the main event of the 'biggest PPV of all time'. Who'da thunk. Yeah...but it'll main event like Booker/HHH did.
Blue Bacchus Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Pipe Dream. I fully expect to see Benoit added the RAW babyface casuality list. But eh, it's Trips company now, he can do what ever he wants.
CanadianChick Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Except a better match...but I see where you're going with that. This is going to be like how all Benoit's main event programs are: plays main-eventer for a month or two, role slowly gets decreased, ends up in meaningless mid-card feud and/or tag team... See last year after the Rumble.
SteakGrowsOnUecker Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 This is great! I can't wait to watch Benoit get held down at Wrestlemania XX by Triple H. This is will be the most glorious moment in my life.
Conspiracy_Victim Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Hmm.. Well maybe HHH just wants to add him to his "Jobbed out Canadian Chrises" collectors set. Unless Benoit wins the belt at WM (HAHAHAHAHA!!! Oh I needed a good laugh) I see very little good coming out of this. Although it is good that HHH sees that he needs to get his ass carried to a decent match nowadays *looks at "tempo HHH is able to handle" line*. Don't be afraid to take 6 months, heck even a year, off if it'll make you able to go faster than Kevin Nash speed in the ring.
2GOLD Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Maybe Triple H can replay the Booker/HHH angle only it's because Benoit is CANADIAN and he's not as good as an AMERICAN. SEE? That way, HHH is the FACE since he is AMERICAN and Canada is apparently our mortal enemy.
cbacon Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 he will be given a main event program with Triple H and possibly the WrestleMania XX main event spot. Well, at least there's this to get excited about it. Benoit in the main event of the 'biggest PPV of all time'. Who'da thunk. Yeah...but it'll main event like Booker/HHH did. Oh yeah *tries to remain optimistic* But Booker was more of a throw in since the RAW brand had no one to challenge for the title. The winner of the Rumble is almost certainly due for bigger things.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 That is true. But if they do Goldberg/Brock...not only will it go on last...but it will get 75% of the advertising.
JHawk Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 The move may come as a result of Benoit winning the Royal Rumble and then demanding to face Triple H for the World Title at RAW. If this is the plan, then why the hell have they been booking toward a Benoit-Lesnar main event for WrestleMania? Wouldn't Benoit want Brock in order to stick it to Heyman? Oh wait, logic. WWE. I forgot.
EdwardKnoxII Posted January 21, 2004 Author Report Posted January 21, 2004 Quick question does anyone think that if/when Benoit loses at WM it will kill his chances of the fans thinking he can win the world title. I mean he's had many chances and loses. And now he loses to Brock, can't get a rematch with him and gets shipped to RAW meaning that Brock and Heyman have won and then if he loses the HHH at WM I think the fans will stop caring about him. And if he ever does win the title later on the fans will be like "Eh".
RavishingRickRudo Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 His name is BENOIT! That's FRENCH. They can make him part of LA REZ!!!! HE CAN DO THE DANCE! DO TEH DACNE!!!!!! MUAHAHAHAHAH!! *breaks down in tears cause it's going to happen*
The Ghost of bps21 Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Benoit will always be a viable championship option because he's over based on talent. Guys get hot and cold...but guys like Benoit don't really fall as far cold as someone like RVD or Booker who are over based on other stuff.
cbacon Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Looks like they'll be playing up the whole "no title shot for Benoit" DESPITE winning the Rumble deal so he'll have no choice but to lay out heyman (and possibly Brock) on next weeks Smackdown before saying 'fuck this, i;ll take hunters title'.
RavishingRickRudo Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Actually, they're playing the whole "Bust your ass, pay your dues for 17 years, only to put over the bosses new son"
Guest Anglesault Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 WWE management also feels that Benoit will be able to come in and instantly help Randy Orton and Batista, two guys WWE is pushing for main event spots but feel are lacking in the ring. ::stifles laughter::
The Ghost of bps21 Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 It's actually a really clever way to jump rosters. Guaranteed a title shot...but can NEVER have a shot at the title. Unfortunately what is a pretty good idea will end with a pedigree. Most good ideas usually do.
2GOLD Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Actually, they're playing the whole "Bust your ass, pay your dues for 17 years, only to put over the bosses new son" least it's not "bosses old son" or "bosses daughter" SEE! A positive!
Cuban Linx Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 No one should really be surprised by this. Triple H will want to have the best match he possibly can at the biggest event ever, so of course he'll go out and bring in Benoit to make him look as good as possible. Benoit then gets to make Batista and Orton look remotely talented, and after that it's back to the midcard for Benoit. *sees Benoit fighting for the IC Title in the near future*
Guest Deebo Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 I don't see this as that bad. I mean, Triple H and Benoit seem to be on pretty good terms from what I understand, and it seems like Triple H admires his ability. Plus, Flair loves Benoit, and we all know Trips bows on the ground Flair walks on, so I just can't see them burying Benoit. I could see some very, very good matches coming out of a Benoit-Triple H feud.
cynicalprofit Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 I can see it now, HHH pins him clean at mania and the crowd just turns on him in a Stiner/HHH "this is bullshit" way. I want to hear JR or whoever work around that one.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 So......... The payoff to Benoit not getting a shot at Brock ever again is to get his pick of titles and choose not to face Brock? And then choke yet again to Triple H and never pay off his pinning Brock at Mania? That sounds like the WWF to me.
