Guest Goodear Report post Posted January 27, 2004 Maybe its me, but weren't the larger problems in that match due to the incredibly SUCKY performance of the tag team champs? Flair can't even work the headlock into a shoulderblock transition anymore and Batista wasn't even in the ring for a 1/\8 of the thing. Arguing over blown spots in a match with Batista, RVD and Jericho seems rather dubious to me since they blow something just about every week anyway. Crap, RVD couldn't even work in the rolling thunder properly.

jester 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2004 Comparing Orton to the Rock doesn't work. Rock was pushed as a FACE consistently. Here's this smiling prick they're insisting we cheer. Fans rejected that and booed him instead. WWE capitalized on that and turned him into a heel. They worked with fan momentum. Orton is a HEEL we're supposed to boo. But he still hasn't caught on. There's no rememdy for a heel nobody cares about except sit there quietly or go to the concession stand for more beer. They aren't working with fan momentum, they are trying to create it out of nothing. Oh, and as for HHH"s "Push" of Orton...that's bull. What has HHH done to make Orton look good? Generously allow him to hang out with him? Let him beat his leftovers, like Foley? Yeah, great push there. It's been said here before, but it's worth saying again....WWE *thinks* it's giving Orton the god push. But they aren't. You know what I'd like to see? Orton consistently kick the shit out of Austin. Then he'd be taken seriously. Won't happen though. Politics.

NYU 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2004 I read "pushed down our throats" and just couldn't find it in me to counter crap with anything but crap, so here you go: Orton's more over than Austin as a heel and he's a better wrestler than Benoit. RAW: ORTON A mention of him started off the show (Bischoff saying Orton was screwed in the Rumble, and Jericho and Van Dam are embarrassments compared to him) He had the first match of the card. He was in the last part of the show For the past few weeks, we have had to see the commercials calling him "The New Hardcore Legend" complete with clips of one Randy Orton. He lasted roughly 30 minutes in the Royal Rumble, coming in at #2. Is pretty much the only heel, besides HHH, to defeat his opponents cleanly. RVD(twice), Hurricane(after Hurricane gave one of those "Believe in me" speeches), Val Venis ......I don't know, seems to me that he's being shoved down our throats. Guest Ghettoman Report post Posted January 27, 2004 A mention of him started off the show (Bischoff saying Orton was screwed in the Rumble, and Jericho and Van Dam are embarrassments compared to him) Oh no, Bischoff's being a heel, someone call the overpush police.... He had the first match of the card. And? He was in the last part of the show To progress a fued with Foley For the past few weeks, we have had to see the commercials calling him "The New Hardcore Legend" complete with clips of one Randy Orton. To progress a fued with Foley He lasted roughly 30 minutes in the Royal Rumble, coming in at #2. So? Is Benoit now being shoved down our throats? Was Kane shoved down our throats a few years back? It's called exposure, it's how you make wrestlers into names, it's what the WWE does with everyone they use, for some reason because it's Orton, this has become the megapush of 04.... Is pretty much the only heel, besides HHH, to defeat his opponents cleanly. RVD(twice), Hurricane(after Hurricane gave one of those "Believe in me" speeches), Val Venis So everyone with clean wins over 3 undercard workers is shoved down our throats? Is there enough room down there? He's being used, sadly because of how the WWE is thats now equated with being pushed, when the only progression Orton has had came when he beat RVD, he went from midcarder to midcard threat. Thats it. But of course comes the justification that he needs to be over to be used, all the while forgetting how people get over, by being used. It's a joke really. Guest Besus Report post Posted January 27, 2004 Orton does get heat.Orton just doesn't get it everyweek. Orton doesn't insult the crowd and Orton doesn't insult the states. This is cheap heat but the faces does it. The Rock: Finally The Rock has come back to [iNSERT STATE] : Cheers : Kurt Angle: I'm glad to be back in [iNSERT STATE] Woo. : Cheers : Orton should say something like, this city is filled with roaches and ants. You people are the ants and roaches.I should squash you all but you aren't worth my time. You people are worthless like this place you call a city. :Boo: Orton should say something like, everytime I come to this place I see fat people. What the hell do you people eat? It looks like you all have eaten 1,000 pack of fritos,200 pieces of fried chicken and dead deers. :Boo: If he want heat he should do it. It worked for The Rock and maybe it will work for him. He's not gona get heat if he comes out everyweek and says "I'm the legend killer-I'm gona kill this and that legend-bring it on" he basically says the same thing everyweek. Talk about your opponent gear, their hair and records.Anythingelse other than them being a legend that you gona kill. If he feud with someone like Austin he would get major heat. In November the crowd chanted "You Suck" because Orton said something to Austin. HBK is over but all he said to him basically was "I'm a legend killer,I'm gona kill you". You're going to kill HBK but the crowd knows, you're not gona kill him like disappear for ever. So they not gona boo you. RVD is over but all he said to him basically was "I'm coming for that gold RVD,and the gold is mine at Armageddon" That didn't get him heat. The crowd's love RVD so he should of said something like "I'm coming for the gold RVD and their is nothing you or your dull fans can do about it.After I kill you,I'm gona piss on you and throw you in a city dumpster" That would of got him boos. I think for him to get over he needs to turn face. The reaction he gets seem like most fans doesn't give a damn about him.The fans hate his gimmick? Turn him face. The fans hate his cockyness? Turn him face. Not now but maybe at Wrestlemania. Have Orton defeat Foley at Wrestlemania. After the 3rd count Orton gets up and celebrate. Then soon as he have one leg up to get out of the ring,He turn around and see's Foley holding his arm. He goes back in the ring and help up Foley. He gets a mic and says give a around of applause for this man.(Crowd cheers/clap).Then he says Foley you're not a coward, you for ever will be a legend, an hardcore legend. Then Foley gets the mic and says Orton you're not a punk, you're a tough brave young man.Now you all give a round of a applause for the legend killer.Orton gets the mic and says Wait wait wait, legend killer? I'm no longer a legend killer. It's time for me to stop killing legends and become a legend. It's time for me to do what's right.Foley then gets the mic and says what are you talking about? Then Orton gets the mic and says I'm leaving Evolution. Then he drops the mic and shakes Foley hand and leave. Next night Flair,Batista, and HHH ask Orton what you mean by leaving Evolution? Orton says I'm gone,I'm sick of being around you asses.I'm sick of helping you.I don't need your help anymore because as of now I'm out of Evolution and I'm going to talk to the fans. Orton goes to the ring and insult Flair,Batista and HHH.Foley comes out and they insult Flair,Batista and HHH together. Orton/Foley can team up for about a month.Hopefully this could get Orton over. After Orton/Foley break up,Orton should kiss the crowd ass like any face would to get a pop.
notJames 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2004 Orton is the "Sensei of Suckittude".When you can't even perform your own finisher move it's time to quit wrestling and get a job at McDonalds. I think it was more the circumstances involved in that spot more than anything that caused the gaff. First off, Jericho is already shorter than Orton. Secondly, Jericho was crouched over doing the Walls, so he's even shorter at that point. Thirdly, Orton insists on pulling off the move as a running finisher, when the mechanics involved are either too contrived or just plain overkill. Finally, I don't think Jericho was even ready for the spot; otherwise, he wouldn't have had the Walls cinched in so tight so that he could transition out of it into the RKO. Truth be told, the RKO is just a plain dumb finisher. Orton looks like an emu trying to fly when he jumps off his feet for the move.He should just tweak the 3.0 with a bit of flourish and use that as his finisher. In that sense, he could use his height to his advantage.

That post-match promo sounds like it's been penned by Billy Kidman. Orton needs to get over as a heel before turning him face will work to its maximum effect, and that won't have happened by WMXX - though I do believe he is slowly getting there. jester 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2004 Orton should not be feuding with Foley. How fucking sad is it that WWE has to go outside the company and find a big name who's RETIRED to put over Orton? I mean, I don't like the guy, but if WWE is serious about getting him over he has got to beat somebody other than "The Guy Who We Have Conclusively Established Can't Beat HHH #33." There are enough old folks working for the WWE who mean something who should be jobbing to Orton. Since Austin can't go anymore, he's a prime candidate. Taker is another. Even HHH. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2004 The thing that helped Brock get over? His finisher. The F-5 looked brutal when he first started using the thing. What does Orton use? The world's worst Diamond Cutter. Hell, the Bubba Cutter looks better than the RKO. And before that, he was using that piss poor Overdrive or whatever the hell they called it. I saw talent in Brock, he wasn't talking but he had a charisma about him. Randy looks like nothing more than Lex Luger and his promos almost sound like Lex. All we need is Randy to vanish and re-appear on Smackdown to bodyslam the Big Show on an Aircraft carrier for crap sake. He's been around over seven months and I don't see one positive about him. I don't wish death or injury on him, but he deserves to be in the spotlight as much as Triple H deserves to be champion.
Enigma 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2004 I just keep thinking back to Summerslam 2001, where Chris Jericho had two big fucked up spots in the match against Rhyno that were his fault. Does Jericho suck? No, the point is, fuck ups happen. Deal with it, Orton isn't the only guy to ever blow a spot in a match. Jericho didn't fuck up. The ropes were too loose. Tajiri messed up an Asai Moonsault earlier in the show against X-Pac for the same reason.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted January 27, 2004 As was watching the finish of the 5-man last night, all I could think of was, "Damn, that "You Fucked Up" chant is the biggest reaction Orton's ever gotten." If the Foley reaction at the Rumble was as loud as you say, I'm shocked that he Randy didn't drop to the floor covering his ears screaming "What is this? What is this new noise?" while Flair and HHH rush out to assure Randy that that's normal.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted January 27, 2004 He can develop. It needs time. And he's been given PLENTY of time. It's time for them to pull the plug. Job him out huge and quick to someone, and take him off TV for a month. Let him return as a "Heat Exclusive" until he begins to perform well. If the fans like him, promote him. If they continue to not give a shit, let him rot on Heat.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2004 Nice to see everyone totally blanking Orton's end segment greatness with Foley. 'Oh, that was all Foley though.' It takes two to do a sgement like that. Orton sold Foley's words perfectly...hell, Foley's done more to help Orton over in the past week than anyone else in the past 7 months...and he's doing a good job. Orton fucked up the RKO. That doesn't consitute an immediate de-push, no matter how much you all hate him. Plus, the point of the RKO is that the guy taking it has to jump at the right time. Orton fucked up...Jericho didn't exactly help though. If Foley puts him over at Mania...if done right, Orton could get the Dreamer style developement...where he went from jobber to main eventer by taking crazy ass bumps all the time. If Orton and Foley put on a hardcore fest at Mania, it could be just what Orton needs.
