PROMO: “Credo.”

The picture slowly comes into focus – a wrestling ring, empty, in the center of a silent arena. The camera rotates slowly around the ring as an unfamiliar voice begins to speak.

”The SWF is composed of the brightest stars in wrestling today. They are recognized all over the world, in every corner of the globe. Loved, hated, feared, and respected, there is one common thread that binds all of them together – without a doubt, they are the best at what they do.”

The camera stops, framing the empty ring.

”I never expected to make it here.”

============================================================================

Clips from Smarkdown begin to flicker rapidly across the screen as CKY’s “Knee Deep” begins to play. The narrator comments briefly on each.

”I’m not the fastest.”

Unaware of what’s going on inside the ring, Craven cackles like a madman while reaching down to pull Coy West to his feet and send this trailer park trash back to the races.

... Meanwhile, Wildchild leaps into the air, expertly landing on the top rope, and then gives one good bounce and soars high into the air flipping forward...

Still oblivious to the Human Hurricane, Craven lifts Coy onto his shoulders for another Gulf Coast Crunch. He turns his body, preparing for his devastating spinout…

… When suddenly, a speeding aquamarine bullet comes ROCKETING towards him with his feet extended out...

WHAM!!

“And a Shooting Star Missile Dropkick from Wildchild nearly takes Michael’s head completely off his shoulders!” testifies Comet as the crowd launches into an enthusiastic cheer!

”I’m not the strongest.”

Struggling and straining to hit the move that could end the match, Duran summons all of his energy to try to lift Janus up off the mat. Given the height disadvantage and the massive size in general of Mr. Bailey, Duran loses his grip before he can lever Janus over. Terry Bailey slips free, and Duran sensing that at least the full nelson was doing some damage goes for the arm again, but Janus anticipates this and intercepts Duran with a KNUCKLE BOMB THAT SENDS DURAN FLYING ACROSS THE RING!!!

”I’m not the best wrestler.”

MVS stays on top of Flesher. He quickly reaches around his neck and grabs his hands, crossing his arms across his throat. Mike starts to sit back, trying to lock on the Cardinal Sin Clutch! Flesher, knowing the deadly submission is coming, immediately makes a front bridge. He forces his hips into the air, keeping Mike from getting the low seated position he needs to tighten the hold. MVS fights to get Flesher onto the mat in order to end the match with the flash submission, but Tom keeps his front bridge and shakes Mike off onto the mat! He quickly backs out, leaving MVS bridged awkwardly on his forehead, hands and feet. Flesher stands up, and Mike quickly follows, only to be grabbed around the hips in a waistlock! The Spectacle panics, knowing what happens next, and tries to hug the mat… but it’s no match for the lifting power of the Superior One, who hoists him into the air and arches back, throwing him effortlessly to the mat with a released German suplex!

”I’m not the best fighter.”

Eddy Long moves over to break up the chaos and seeing the referee isn’t going to stop him from entering the ring, Janus strides over the top rope and heads off toward the melee. Terry Bailey, fire in his eyes take some meaningful paces towards Duran and Va’aiga, and Eddy Long turns, just in time to see Va’aiga take a three step run up and SPARK OUT BAILEY WITH AN OUT OF NOWHERE, OUT OF CONTROL AND STRIAGHT OUT OF THE DEPTHS OF HELL LAAAAARIIIIIIIIIAAAAAAAAATOOOOOOOOOOO!

”I’ve been wrestling for almost six years, and I have yet to hold a title.”

Floating streamers and confetti are flying everywhere, creating a party atmosphere not unlike the one in Times Square last week. Joining in on the fun, Dace and Janus come sprinting from the locker room, making their way to the ring!

Riley: This can’t be happening!

Comet: It is happening, Riley! Right here, live on national television, history has been made! More focused on defeating Williams than keeping the title, Ejiro took a big risk he didn’t have to take, and paid for it with the World Title!

Now in the ring, Dace and Janus help their weary stable leader get on his feet. To make the win official, Soapdish grabs Danny’s left wrist, but Williams defensively pulls it back, and opts that the ref raise his healthy arm instead. The official complies, raising Williams right arm in victory, and somehow, the crowd manages to raise the volume to an even higher level of sonic destruction!

Funyon: The winner of the match by pin fall, at 16 minutes and 21 seconds......AND NEW SWF WORLD CHAMPION................DANNY WILLIAMSsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!

==========================================================

Danny Williams’ title celebration fades to black, and is slowly replaced by a shot of a man sitting with his back to the camera. The lighting is poor; the only distinguishing features that can be seen are his broad shoulders and shoulder-length hair. His head is bowed; one has the impression that his hands are clenched.

”Six long years and no titles, no prestige, no recognition. My career has been a rollercoaster, true, but there are no great peaks to match the deepest of the valleys. So what can I do to make it here, in the SWF, where only the best is ever good enough?”

“It’s really very simple.”

He rises from his seat, and the camera abruptly turns white.

”I can see something they can’t.”

=======================================================

RRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

“SILENT IS UP! SILENT BEAT THE COUNT!”

Clips from Genesis IV flash rapidly past the camera, each one a little clearer than the last.

A harsh tug down pulls Edwin’s hands from the cage, and his legs slip out from under him, in between the ropes and the cage. He manages to catch himself before he lands face-first on the steel, but that instinctive motion leaves him unable to break the waistlock he suddenly finds himself caught in! MacPhisto makes one last lunge for the cage, trying to find purchase, leverage, something, anything, but Kibagami is simply too strong.

BAM!

Madison Square Garden EXPLODES in a frenzy of “HO-LY SHIT!” chants as the Silent One plants MacPhisto almost squarely on his skull with a slingshot German suplex! The Slaughterer leans against the ropes, still feeling the effects of the Air MacPhisto, as the Crown Prince comes to a stop face-down in the center of the ring!

”They saw a failure. They saw a waste.

With a tremendous yell, Silent backdrops out of the Walk-Off! MacPhisto is stunned, but he recovers quite well, managing to turn a somersault in midair and land on his feet, but the Silent One is a step ahead of him – grabbing hold of Edwin’s left arm and draping it over his shoulder and grabbing MacPhisto’s left leg with his free hand, he lifts the Crown Prince from his feet and spins back…

SLAM!

“The Stigmata! That’s Spider Nekura’s old finishing move! Silent has stooped to truly criminal methods to win this match!”

They saw a man whose time has passed…but I didn’t.

Against all logic, MacPhisto is struggling to lift Kibagami for the Union Jack, but his body has nothing left to give him. Despite his best efforts, the Crown Prince of Flash and Panache finds himself lifted off the mat and into the crucifix position. He kicks his feet in vain as the Silent One starts his run towards the cage…

SLAM! CRASH!!

The back of MacPhisto’s head bounces sharply off the cage and slams into the mat, the rest of the Mac Daddy’s limp body trailing behind him!

”I saw an answer.”

With a quick prayer on his lips and the fans in mind, James Canterbury leaps into the air above the ring, looking to score a telling blow with the enziguri that has saved him so many times before.

But Silent knows it’s coming.

And he catches that leg, too…

==========================================================

The camera freezes here, with MacPhisto suspended in the air, seconds away from the end of his career. The look on Kibagami’s face is haunting – a smile, twisting the blood that streaks his face in a truly horrific way.

”I may not be the strongest, and I may not be the fastest, but I am the most driven out of anyone in this federation. I know things they do not – I see things they do not. And most importantly…I am willing to do what they will not. Because above all other things, I want to be the best.”

The footage resumes, and Edwin MacPhisto falls.

”The best, at any cost.”

The screen goes white for the briefest of moments, with a name emblazoned across it in bold red letters…

AIDAN REDMOND

...before it fades to black.

END

Nice sense of mystery about this new character. May he actually come to fruition and start kicking arse in the fed. Oh, and...

(@Janus) I am stunned and amazed. :D

Dude, you had trouble getting motivated to write a fucking clip-promo? You suck, man.

This does not get my 130-hit seal of approval, thank you, drive through.

For a promo that was put together mostly through the effort of others, it was an excellent read. If not a writer, you're an excellent research librarian.

I love how it's always us chronic no-showers who have the characters who have "will." ;)

I got the brooding hero on the FF quiz, too. And they say I am one-dimensional...
