Damaramu Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 Ok here we go....what sport or sports league can you just not stand? Do you get bored watching Tennis? Do you hate the way the NCAA runs it's football program? Tell me what you hate and why. Here's my most hated sports league............the NBA. I just can't stand professional basketball. Everytime I watch an NBA game I'm bored to tears. I don't know why....I just am. Plus I have no reason to care about any team....maybe that's my fault....I just don't care who wins what game....it doesn't matter because I don't like any of them! NCAA Basketball I find much more entertaining and I can get into. But NBA....uh uh. So discuss!
HarleyQuinn Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 Tennis I find dreadfully boring because it goes far too long and there's never any back and forth action. It's always 2 or 3 shots and we go to the next rally. Also I'm finding golf boring as hell too since it takes forever to finish a hole, let alone a round it seems.
the max Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 I can tolerate a certain amount of NFL football, but NCAA football is something that I despise. The way that the whole thing is run is ridiculous, what with there being two #1 teams in the country. There are WAY too many schools/teams too. Nothing like ESPN running Nowheresville State v. Springfield Tech.
syxx2001 Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 FOOTBALL. ANY KIND. It is soooooo deadly boring. I only watch the SuperBowl and then I dont really pay attention. I go to my high school games, but thats only for the social environment.
Tawren Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 The NBA. I can tolerate basketball, but the NBA's overall unprofessionalism just pisses me off.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 I hate Hockey because they did everything and anything they could to basically push out the "Goons". I remember watching the Bruins way back during the mid 90s and some of those teams just sucked beyond words but at least you could always count on somebody knocking the shit out of somebody else. Now the team still pretty much sucks, but if it had some "Goons" on it they would be decent due to the fact the best player in the NHL(Joe Thorton) wouldn't be getting constantly mugged out there. I liked it when they had the "scorers" scoring, the "stronger yes not as good at scoring" people rattling the scorers and the "Goons" beating the holy hell out of the stronger people.
Kahran Ramsus Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 Golf. It is just so booooring, and it is on TSN all the time taking up room of shows I might want to watch (like PTI).
2GOLD Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 Division I college football. I wish I could copy the 35 page BCS HANDBOOK that attempts to explain it but I can't be held responsible for the blood vessel popping in your brains. Ice Hockey pisses me off for the TIE reason. A tie should count as no points, you are both losers! MLB unions. They ruined the game now. I was with that at first until they started telling players what deals they could and couldn't sign. If a player wants to play for much less just to finish his career with a certain team then he shouldn't have to worry about the union announcing they will block his deal.
Cuban Linx Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 I can't really think of any sport i actively hate or dislike. If anything probably Baseball and College sports, but that's mainly due to me living in Australia and having little exposure to them, though i can watch them just fine if they're on.
The Czech Republic Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 Every league is full of crap except NCAA basketball and tennis. Some are more fun to watch than others but when you look at the operations of the leagues they all suck.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 Sellig's running of MLB.
Damaramu Posted February 1, 2004 Author Report Posted February 1, 2004 Every league is full of crap except NCAA basketball and tennis. Some are more fun to watch than others but when you look at the operations of the leagues they all suck. That's because generally when you're dealing with people making that much money they all become huge babies and do stupid shit.

Some are more fun to watch than others but when you look at the operations of the leagues they all suck. what's wrong with the NFL? I really see no problems with them except their hard rule for team endzone celebrations...but that doesn't really effect the game.
Red Baron Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 and so far Soccer hasn't been touched yet. Baseball has lost almost every interest in me
Guest Ahhee Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 Arena Football - I'm sick and tired of the ads here in Indy trying to make Firebirds coach Steve DeBerg out to be some sort of badass.
Damaramu Posted February 1, 2004 Author Report Posted February 1, 2004 Arena Football - I'm sick and tired of the ads here in Indy trying to make Firebirds coach Steve DeBerg out to be some sort of badass. Yeah we get the Bon Jovi/Elway add before movies here.
MrRant Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 Soccer. Simple reason. It's not a sport so sayeth your God, George Carlin.
Guest OctoberBlood Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 Geroge Carlin fucking sucks. Seriously. He had some good stuff, but mos of it's awful. I'll say Tennis, I guess.
Vern Gagne Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 Carlin's overrated. Don't like the NFL. The medicority has ruined the league for me. NBA and NHL are boring. That's more the fault of the coaches, than the league itself.
AlwaysPissedOff Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 Tennis: I tried watching Wimbleton like 5 years ago and was zonked out after 20 minutes. Golf: Dull, dull, DULL! Announcers speaking in hushed voices(I know it's nesscessary, but goddamn is it boring) and taking forever to take a shot. If I was out there watching that crap, I'd wish for someone to put a bullet in my head. Hockey: Don't hate it, but I can't sit through it, either. Or, if I do manage to sit through a game, I'm just left with the feeling that I wasted almost 3 hours of my life for nothing. Eastern Conference in the NBA: It's basketball in SUPER SLO-MO!!!! Outside of Indy and NO, watching an Eastern Conference game is like friggin' Chinese water torture.
Mole Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 Soccer. Simple reason. It's not a sport so sayeth your God, George Carlin. How is Soccer not a sport? Please explain that to me. I can't stand the WNBA. It just bores the shit out of me. I can stand watching some golf, mostly just the majors. My pops watches golf all the time, and I have no idea how he does it. And I can't really watch hockey either. I've been told you would enjoy it a lot better if you saw it live, which I've never done.
Damaramu Posted February 1, 2004 Author Report Posted February 1, 2004 I just see Golf as one of those things that's only fun if you play it, therefore you have more appreciation for what those guys are doing on the TV.
ISportsFan Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 The NBA. Basketball is such a great sport, and all the best athletes in my favorite sport are in the NBA. But, nobody runs an offense and nobody plays in a defensive stance. It's all 1-on-1 stuff, and nobody moves without the ball. The 24-second shot clock makes the game less strategic and makes the offense work too fast, not looking for offensive sets and relying on more 1-on-1 things. The game has no flow because of all these things and more. Basketball is meant to be a finesse game, but the handchecking on the perimeter and things like that ruin what used to be a complete finesse game. And what is most annyoing is that the college game is becomming more like the NBA game, and the NBA is more and more boring each year. Jason
ISportsFan Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 I can't stand the WNBA. It just bores the shit out of me. This goes without saying. I seriously forget this counts as a sports league when these topics come up. But this is even worse than the NBA in my eyes. Jason
Cuban Linx Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 I forgot the WNBA too, i'd rather stick needles in my eyes than watch that. Golf too i don't really like, i can bear it if there's abolsutely nothing else on, but it's pretty much at the bottom of my sport preferences.
Damaramu Posted February 1, 2004 Author Report Posted February 1, 2004 I also just don't like the players in the NBA. Most of them seem like the kind of people I'd want to stay far away from in real life.....
razazteca Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 MLS - Never watch it on tv the rare times it actually is shown on ABC or ESPN.
King Kamala Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 MLS: Third rate soccer players playing in front of 7,000 people in 80,000 seat stadums. EXCITING! I actually have watched a bit of Major Indoor League Soccer and I don't care what anybody says, it's not have bad. It's high scoring dammit, that's the American way. Tennis: If only for the fact ESPN has been playing it all day lately. Dammit I want my NFL films on the 1984 Tampa Bay Bucaneers and 1996 Los Angeles Rams! I would say NHL just because it translates so poorly on TV, but I haven't had a chance to see a game live yet so I'll withold from this list until then.
HarleyQuinn Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 Yeah, Hockey's definitely better seeing live then on TV. It translates pretty poorly to TV compared to live where it moves at a pretty fast pace
Guest Ghettoman Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 I hate every league. They all suck. If there's a sports league out there devoid of the the typical problems out there ruining things, I've yet to see it.
