Giuseppe Zangara Posted February 14, 2004 Author Report Posted February 14, 2004 Brush it off, nigga. A classic thread in the making.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted February 14, 2004 Author Report Posted February 14, 2004 I'll be away from the board for a couple of days. This thread better be up to three pages when I get back.

Your Paragon of Virtue Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 Every Neptunes song ever sounds the same, and not coincidentally, they happened to produce the two worst songs on the album. I think Kanye West produced the two best songs, "Encore" and "Lucifer". Moment of Clarity is simple but still good, and is there a video for Brush the Dirt off your shoulder? I don't even know if it's a single or not. But if the video doesn't involve Ricky Williams and Edgerrin James running people over, I won't be happy. I don't know where the hell I came with this, although I have noticed that after I said that we should all quote ourselves a lot more, is when Squirtle! started doing it. Although he probably got the idea from Mole, he really honed his whole posting style after him. I can see why. He even honoured him in his sig, to which Mole replied "I have been immortalized~!"

Yeap.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 Every Neptunes song ever sounds the same, and not coincidentally, they happened to produce the two worst songs on the album. You are a madman and a sinner. "Allure" is gorgeous - probably in my top 5 of tracks on the album. "Change Clothes," however, does make the bottom 3. It's gotta be: 5. "December 4th" 4. "Allure" 3. "99 Problems" 2. "Lucifer" 1. "My First Song" Now, Timbaland...he did well with that whole "bippity boopity click click" sound, but it ain't no "Cry Me A River." More importantly, I think Jay has a goiter.

Guest Fire and Knives Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 "...they made love under the sycamore tree, which makes me/A more sicker MC..." A more sicker MC? That ruined "December 4th" for me entirely. That's some ignorant shit there, Jay. K.
k thx Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 Chave with nude photos of Dames Shhh. Don't tell Mr. Piss.

That ruined "December 4th" for me entirely. That's some ignorant shit there, Jay. K. Eh, I liked the line, I thought it was clever anyway. What ruins My 1st Song to me is that he raps for about a minute and a half and then for the last two and half minutes of the song he goes all "Fangirl on BET" and gives shoutouts to all these people we don't care about.

lomasmoney Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 While "Change Clothes" is really well mediocre. I think that "Allure" is probably one of the better Neptunes songs. Number one my friend who is huge into hip-hop and can tell producers from a mile away didn't even know it was a Neptunes beat. Two its just a really soothing song for some reason. I mean it's no "Encore", but that might just be one of Jay-Z's top 5 songs. "99 Problems" is just fucking great and people should know that one of the first great producers in rap, was Rick Rubin who is just fucking awesome and doesn't get enough credit for all the work that he's done over the last two decades.
Zack Malibu Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 While on the subject of hip hop, I'd like to say that Twista's "Slow Jam/Slo Jam/Slo Jamz" whatever it's official title is this week, is reeling me in. I'm digging it bigtime. Jamie Foxx must be proud to have a hit song, lol.

I'm digging it bigtime. Jamie Foxx must be proud to have a hit song, lol. I'll second that. That song and "Overnight Celebrity" off Twista's album have been stuck in my head for a while now. Kanye West is fast becoming my favorite producer...and rapper for that matter.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted February 16, 2004 Author Report Posted February 16, 2004 Fuck you, guys. I like "Change Clothes."

razazteca Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 No love for the "Sprinkle it"? E-40's vocal style was ahead of its time, now everybody wants to use an accent or local color verbage.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 Brush it off, nigga. A classic thread in the making. ...not quite, sucka.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 I like the Kanye parts of "Slow Jamz" a lot more than the Twista parts. Twista reminds me of a loveable, fast-talking marshmallow, however, so I like him too. Jamie Foxx on the hook is still really weird to me, but mostly because he looks like he's trying very hard to take a shit in the video. All this adds up to one great song.

E-40's vocal style was ahead of its time, now everybody wants to use an accent or local color verbage. He's garbage. He has absolutly no skill, it's all made up words. Hell, he thinks because he makes up words that it's "ahead of his time"? Sorry, not from the way I see it. Also, are you from the west coast???
