The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 The latest on the highly anticipated show... After months of speculation, the WrestleMania XX card seems to finally be taking shape and looks as follows: WWE Title Match Eddie Guerrero vs. Kurt Angle World Title Match Triple H vs. Chris Benoit vs. Shawn Michaels WWE US Title Match The Big Show vs. John Cena World Tag Team Titles Match Booker T & RVD vs. TBA Cruiserweight Battle Royal Participants: Rey Mysterio, Chavo Guerrero, Shannon Moore, Paul London, Ultimo Dragon, Tajiri, Akio, Sakoda, Jamie Noble, Nunzio, Kidman Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg The Undertaker vs. Kane Chris Jericho vs. Christian Randy Orton & Batista vs. The Rock & Mick Foley Sable & Torrie Wilson vs. Stacy Keibler & Jackie Gayda Despite hints on RAW, the plan right now is not to add a Vince McMahon vs. Eric Bischoff match to the card. Shane & Stephanie McMahon also are not expected to wrestle or have any other on TV role. With ten matches, many high profile names are not included on the card. Some of which include: Ric Flair, Hardcore Holly, Billy Gunn, Shelton Benjamin, Charlie Haas, The Bashams, A-Train, Matt Hardy, Scott Steiner, Rikishi, Scotty 2 Hotty, Bradshaw, Faarooq, Rhyno, Garrison Cade, Mark Jindrak, Hurricane, Test, Val Venis, Lance Storm, Rico, Matt Morgan, Orlando Jordan, Chuck Palumbo, Johnny Stambolli, Spike Dudley, Trish Stratus, Molly Holly, Lita, Victoria, and Jazz. Maven and Edge won't work WMXX. The Dudley Boyz are also not scheduled but could end up facing Booker T & RVD for the World Tag Team Titles. Credit: PWTorch Newsletter Add to that I just read somewhere that they were thinking of doing something like Rikishi & Scotty vs. APA vs. TWGTT for the SD! Tag titles (which I can totally see since it gets WWE favorites Rikishi and Bradshaw on the show in the least offensive way possible) Plus...you just know Trish' role will be played in Jericho/Christian anyway, and Flair will be ringside with Evolution. Basically...if RVD and Booker do end up on the card...I can live with who's being left off.

Michrome 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 Chavo being in the battle royale makes no sense. I'd have thought they would have the winner face him immediately.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 That would certainly make more sense since there are 11 guys listed there. Take him out and you have an even 10...with Chavo waiting to take advantage of the winner (probably Rey) with his heel like tactics. Of course...Rey would overcome and win...and *boom* WrestleMania moment.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 WWE US Title Match The Big Show vs. John Cena World Tag Team Titles Match Booker T & RVD vs. TBA Cruiserweight Battle Royal Participants: Rey Mysterio, Chavo Guerrero, Shannon Moore, Paul London, Ultimo Dragon, Tajiri, Akio, Sakoda, Jamie Noble, Nunzio, Kidman Chris Jericho vs. Christian That's great! Shane & Stephanie McMahon also are not expected to wrestle or have any other on TV role. Even better! With ten matches, many high profile names are not included on the card. Some of which include: Ric Flair, Shelton Benjamin, Charlie Haas, Matt Hardy, Rico, Molly Holly, Victoria. They should at least throw in the Women's Title match. Maybe on Heat perhaps? Edge won't work WMXX. BOO!
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 I don't have that problem with the hype since I never buy into wrestling hype anymore...OK just that one time for Truth/Jarrett... There's enough mix between good matches and big event matches for me. Angle/Eddy, Jericho/Christian, Cruiser stuff. Brock/Berg, Taker/Kane Whatsmore...I actually LIKE the way most of these matches have been built up. Cena/Show for example. It's going to be awesome to see Cena take him down finally. Guest Coffey Report post Posted February 20, 2004 WWE Women's Championship Molly © Vs. Victoria w/ Steven Richards You know it's going to happen. At least on Heat. I also don't think the Playboy women shit will happen, but maybe that's just wishful thinking. If there is usually eight matches for three hours, and the final hour is two matches...that means a five hour show should have ten matches with the last two hours being four of them, right?? WWE Title Match Eddie Guerrero vs. Kurt Angle World Title Match Triple H vs. Chris Benoit vs. Shawn Michaels WWE US Title Match The Big Show vs. John Cena Cruiserweight Battle Royal WWE Women's Championship Molly Vs. Victoria Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg The Undertaker vs. Kane Chris Jericho vs. Christian Randy Orton & Batista vs. The Rock & Mick Foley That's nine matches. There will most likely be a Heat match too...which will probably be the tag team match. So, we could have either Bischoff/McMahon or a random tag team championship to finish the card. The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 They should just put it on Mania too. They can find room for another...what...8 minutes total on a 5 hour show?
Michrome 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 I haven't seen a good Christian singles match in forever, no reason to believe I'll see one at Mania.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 Well...if he can't have one with Jericho at Mania...he's not going to have one. At least not until Benoit gets demoted to the midcard of RAW.

It's going to be awesome to see Cena take him down finally. I agree completely. Cena/Show is getting great buildup, seeing as it's been going on since early December, and Cena (other than the battle rap/humiliation) can't really get the best of TBS (got eliminated by Show at RR, at the Smackdown battle royal). Eddy/Angle seems like it can shape up to be an excellent feud culminated by an excellent match at MSG. The Angle heel turn, while sort of telegraphed, was excellent and put tons of heat on Angle, and tons of pops towards Eddy. Brock/Goldberg has gotten the slow-burn build that's exciting as well. Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 Fuck having Batista in the Orton/Foley match. HBK/Rocky would of been SUCH a better use of both guys. Oh well... UYI
Guest nikowwf Report post Posted February 20, 2004 The show is 4 hours, not 5 hours. Its 7-11 with the 11-11:30 set aside for the runover, unless the PPV previews are lying. first showing 7-11 second showing 11:30-4:30 niko
humongous2002 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 Basically...if RVD and Booker do end up on the card...I can live with who's being left off. Amen to that, maybe WWE decides to do RVD/Book v. Y2J/Xtian for the tag titles . That will be the perfect chance for Christian to turn on Jericho.
slabinskia 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 This will be a great show for marks.they have built most of the matches up very well.marks want to see lesnar/goldberg and undertaker back in the dead man gimmick.unfortunately for benoit most marks want to see michaels win the belt. For the rest of us we can look forward to a 4 1/2-5 star match between eddie/angle,the triple threat match that i think will be much better than people think and a few more solid matches in the cruiser battle royal,y2j/christian, rvd/booker vs dudleys and twgtt vs scotty/rikishi which will prabably make it on the show. At the pace they're going, that would be the right time to do it, but Wrestlemania XX, as UYI mentioned, is a blowoff show and doing it there would be anti-climatic, and also tie Jericho up in a feud that needs to be over with in quick fashion so he can move on to something else, preferably a title feud with Benoit or a partnership with him fighting off the evil HHH and/or HBK. humongous2002 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 Well IMO Jericho deserves better than feuding with Xtian, i think of that match as a RAW opening match and not a Mania match. It wouldn't be the first time they do a heel turn on Mania, just look at Austin back in 2001 and HHH back in 1999. Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 Maybe they can do the tag title match, have Christian turn on Y2J, and let RVD and Booker leave. Then Christian cuts a big heel promo, and tells Jericho that if it weren't for the tag title match, he woulda challenged his ass at WrestleMania. Then Bischoff comes out, and makes the match on the spot. The match then starts as soon as he says it's on, with Christian taking advantage of a hurt Jericho, so when Jericho makes his comeback, it'll all be gravy. OR they can just have Booker/RVD face Matt Hardy & someone else for the tag titles.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 I guess where they cut out the segment where WGTT challenged APA and Too Cool 2 from Smackdown, they have no plans of having any of them wrestle. And the only way a Dudleys/RVD&Booker T match would make sense is if the Duds get a rushed heel turn. Otherwise, Im willing to bet that neither Brands Tag Belts are defended and thus RVD is left off Wrestlemania again.
CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 Randy Orton & Batista vs. The Rock & Mick Foley THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN. Geez, isn't it obvious that it will be a one-on-one match? This would be such a waste of Rocky.
Guest thebigjig Report post Posted February 20, 2004 I just dont fucking understand why they cant do Shawn vs Rock... turn Shawn heel, have Rock come back, do the whole Hogan/Rock showdown with Shawn taking Hogan's place... the basic legend vs. legend scenario. Sure, it's not creative, but it would leave a HHH vs. Benoit one on one match, and it would give Rock a high profile opponent and a match we havent seen
Karc 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 I've said all along that unless HBK vs. Rock is there, I'm not buying Wrestlemania. Every other match I've seen in some capacity (Triple H or Chris Benoit in a Triple Threat, Taker vs. Kane) or will stink so bad it isn't worth watching (Brock vs Goldberg, unless Brock carries the thing on his back). Guest nikowwf Report post Posted February 20, 2004 Shawn Michaels vs. Rock would be great, but it would just be pulled out of the air, wouldn't it? niko
Guest thebigjig Report post Posted February 20, 2004 Shawn Michaels vs. Rock would be great, but it would just be pulled out of the air, wouldn't it? niko well... technically Hogan/Rock was pulled out of the air too, and while it may be rushed, it's still a better option than inserting HBK into the title picture... Rocky will be there for the big save this week on Raw, and there will be the match.

Guest wrestlingbs Report post Posted February 20, 2004 Sounds good... but I would make some changes: Move Dudleys to SD, and have Dudleys vs. Team Angle for the SD tag titles (have them win the belts at next SD) Change Rocky/Foley vs. Orton/Batista to Rock/Foley vs. Flair, Orton, and Batista in an elimination match. Have RVD and Booker T vs. La Resistance for the titles. Add Steven Richards vs. Test for Heat.
Aero 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 Cena (other than the battle rap/humiliation) can't really get the best of TBS (got eliminated by Show at RR, at the Smackdown battle royal). Except for when Cena beat Show cleanly with an FU at both Survivor Series (chain shot ahead of time though) and at the Smackdown from Baghdad on Christmas.
