Still No New Deal Between RVD & WWE

Still No New Deal Between RVD & WWE

RVD may head to SD! before his contract expires...

Rob Van Dam's WWE contract expires this July and he has yet to sign a new deal. Right now, most believe that RVD will be moved to Smackdown if Edge is moved to RAW.

seems Smackdown is the only venue on WWE that shows some changes. Though referring to Guerreros Title win, you could chalk that up to pressure of having a Latino audience that watches Smackdown more than Raw. (UPN must carry more than Spike obviously)

But

If RVD determines he could find a World title win there, then thats a good option. Its outside the scope of the HHH Kliq Block on the World title. And there he wouldn't have to feel like such a chump.

In terms of the amount of heat the match could get, think about this:

RVD actually built back up to being someone the fans truly care about and proven to be a credible threat against the lying, cheatin, and stealing ways of Eddie Guerrero.

RVD vs. Eddie Guerrero for the WWE Title.

Considering RVD's pops are still the best for someone continually buried more than anyone else, if all of this happened, and could happen given that he'd be on Smackdown, seriously... You could have a match with as much reaction to it as Hogan vs. Rock.

Speculation, and highly wrong, but my opinion is that. A lot of work stands in the way of getting RVD back to where it would need to be before then, but it could happen. Then again, maybe not.

Still if RVD does go to SD!, I'm all for it. If Edge goes to RAW, I'm all for it.

Because most likely, both of these guys will get shots in the arm and a chance for the Titles on both shows.

But...if he's probably not going to sign an extention, why bother switching him to Smackdown? Usually they build an angle around a "jump."

EDIT: Nevermind. If they did decide to hotshot RVD/Eddie, that could be pretty kickass. Although that's face vs. face. Face vs. face can be done really well, but I don't quite trust WWE to pull it off correctly.

I want to know this...

How do they bring him in?

Likely, He'll be a big Face and it would be best to JUMP on the hot "return" reactions he'll get. Do you plug him into a Main event feud RIGHT away? If so, How?

Isn't Angle feuding with Cena after he's done with Guerrero? Angle/RVD never had a full blown program and they both are over, so that seems like a natural.

*RVD picks up Pen*

*Signs contract*

JR: Well Rob, glad to have you signed.

RVD: What?

JR: The contract, thank you for signing it.

RVD: I didn't sign any contract.

JR: Yes you did, like 10 seconds ago, we all saw you.

RVD: Dude, I have no idea what you're talking about.

JR: Bah Gawd Rob, you won't even sell signing the contract! BAH GAWD Rob... BAH...GAWD.

*RVD shrugs and points to himself*

"Ah Christ stop that!" *JR jumps over the table and grabs RVD*

*RVD continues pointing to himself while JR freaks out*

.... sorry, the best I could think of on short notice.

Well, if they wanted him to sign another deal, they could do Angle/RVD and hold the Eddie G feud out as a bargaining chip.

I'm jump him over to SD to feud with Eddie for the first SD exclusive PPV after WM. Only, if it was me, I'd bring him over as a heel. Have Paul Heyman pimp him as "his boy", Mr. ECW, his creation, and have RVD play the same character that he did in ECW for so long. While they get the fans to boo him in favor of the fan favorite Eddie, durring their matches Eddie will be the dominant guy as the face, while RVD will be the heel working with Heyman, but still get pops because of his different spots.

I'd have him jump over, make it look like he's going to be a face (let him have the huge reaction when he first shows up), then turn him almost instantly that very night.

That could be a great feud, I'd love to see it with Eddie face and RVD heel.

Here's a question

Do they even WANT rvd back?

Not like they ever planned on using him, They might miss his merch sales for a little time...but would they actually miss him?

They can't give him a HUGE push(i.e ANGLE or Guerrero) if there's a good chance he'll be gone soon but can't pigeonhole him (i.e what's he got going on right now) then he'll just up and leave and make money with the comic book store, the b movies and random Indy dates.

Well WWE doesn't NEED RVD, but who do they actually need right now? There aren't many guys in the company right now that would really hurt them if they weren't there anymore.

I think they want him to stay though, and I think that he'll end up signing. I've never thought for a second that he'd end up leaving.

You forget that no matter what kind of wrestler you are in the ring or how you act backstage, if Vince thinks you can make him money, you're as good as gold in his book.

Face or heel it wouldn't matter.

It's fucking Rob Van Dam. Do you think any mark fan is going to boo him?

Same goes with Eddie.

No matter what the WWE could do, Eddie and RVD would be: face vs. face.

Problem is, how to get them to face off and still make it look good and not cheesy.

One will "turn" heel. That will probably be given to RVD, considering how many times they've tried Eddie and just outright failed. Although, I figure a 3-way with Angle, Eddie cheats by nailing RVD with the belt while the Ref checks on the now prone Angle, Eddie wins via frog splash. We get TENSION~! as RVD and Eddie have a scene where Eddie hopes there's no hard feelings as it is who he is. Then we have a tag match with RVD and Eddie vs. The Greatest Tag Team, and RVD is so over himself that he goes and shows off rather than help Eddie win. Thus creating the heel turn (with post match mocking) and that.

You'd still have everyone popping for every single thing they'd do in the RVD vs. Eddie match, but it would happen.

I want to know this...

Just make it a straight up trade. Nothing fancy. Just have Heyman say "I traded Edge for RVD because Edge whined and bitched like a baby about how he wasn't going to get his 'spot'!"

As I said, you'd build him up first. Work with that original face and "return" pop. As I said, you have RVD and Angle both square off against Eddie. However, as you pointed out, let's have those two go at it for awhile to decide who the hell faces Eddie or who is the better man for Smackdown. Let these two then involve Eddie, we have the suggested 3-way and WHAM! We've now got Lesnar, Eddie, RVD, Big Show, Angle, and Cena (who by the time we get to this point, will be a WWE Title Contender) battling for the belt. Plus with RVD as Champion (he'd have to be at some point) we'd get a title reign that was fresh, can play off of old history (Lesnar), can create some new history (with Cena), and frankly, probably be quite creative as they have to cover for RVD's weaknesses (mic and selling).

Again, assuming RVD hits SD.

Thats not a great scale...

Vince thought the likes of

Zack Gowen

Nathan Jones

was as good as gold too and would make him money..

God, I hope we never get an Brock/RVD angle...it was bad enough when Heyman did the talking...

Personally, I'd play up on RVD and Heyman's past...

Have him come in with the "straight up" trade...He gets a HUGE fanfare with hype and shit (NEXT WEEK! RVD DEBUTS ON SMACKDOWN!)...He gets the 9:00 spot and goes over Rhyno pretty soundly in a decent 10 minute match.

Let's Suppose Heyman is looking to announce he plans on having a 4 way Dance to determine the #1 contender for Eddy Guerrero at Judgement Day and Rattles off Angle, Cena, Brock and...Rob Van Dam.

The Next week, The Big Show arrives stomping and storming...he arrives to Heyman's office just as RVD is saying goodbye to Dawn Marie...TBS doesn't think nothing of it and goes all pissy about RVD getting shot after just ONE night on Smackdown and he being the 2 time champion deserves a shot first...Heyman doesn't care and shrugs him off thus Pissing off TBS who attacks Heyman and threatens him (thus turning Face in the process) and Heyman says "All right...A FIVE Man Dance then!"...

and run with RVD as Heyman's "Guy" against Eddy, Leaving Heel Brock Vs Face TBS (a new twist to their never ending feud) and Angle/Cena...

...you know, that could very well work. And would make a hell of a lot of sense.

Just like everybody else i'm pumped up for this trade, if RVD goes to SD, he will:

1-Get a chance to get over.

2-Wrestle against more athletic and motivated challengers.

3-He will have a big chance to finally become a World champion.

As long as the WWE keeps him away from the Kliq, RVD would be more than glad to re-sign an extended WWE contract, just let Heyman book RVD's storylines.

I'd like to see a bidding war go on for him. Have Bischoff tell RVD his contract is almost up and he has a new one for him to sign. RVD can be all "Nah, that's cool. But I'll think about it."

Then have Heyman start making Rob offers for him to jump to Smackdown. Let it go on for a couple weeks until RVD finally decides to go to Smackdown.

It would at least make RVD seem important again.

they do that ONLY with important people HHH and Austin...

Mid-Carders get the lame "Contract expired and he jumped" excuse.

Not to be overly cynical, but for all we know their moving RVD to Smackdown so they can edit out his pops and fan reactions to make it less meaningful if/when he leaves the company.

No matter how RVD leaves WWE, you just know he will be embraced wherever else he goes.

I like the sound of Rob Van Dam: NWATNA Superstar.

I've got a better idea, why don't they move him to Smackdown so they can job him to Gunn, Big Show and Albert? Maybe RVD could be the one guy the cruiserweights can beat? Job him to Torrie and Sable in a bra and panties match. Then J.R. can try to re-sign him.
