Guest Real F'n Show Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 from the Velocity preview... The Cruiserweight Open at WrestleMania XX is just over a week away, and on Velocity, two participants in that match will be in action as a tune up for the events of March 14. Tune in and see Jamie Noble face up and comer Paul London in what should feature some high-flying excitement as only the Cruiserweight Division can feature. Will Noble take the next step in his preparation for WrestleMania or will London throw a hitch into Noble’s plans? Watch Velocity to find out! This seems to be good news, as hopefully London will be able to do some awesome stuff on the biggest stage of them all, instead of jobbing. Eh, I doubt it though...
Guest OSIcon Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 You left out the following paragraph that talks about Nunzio also going to Wrestlemania and having a tune up match with Orlando Jordan on Velocity. The "two participants in that match" line refers to Nunzio and Noble, not Noble and London. The paragraphs were poorly constructed though....
haVoc Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 Has it been explained how the Cruiser Open will work?
Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 My idea was for Chavo to attack Kidman prior to the show, and Kidman's partner London take his place in the open. London and Chavo would be the last two in, with London almost getting a win before Chavo cheats to barely win. Then have a feud that ends with London finally getting the win and the title.
Guest Anglesault Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 Who cares if he's jobbing on Velocity every week and being left off Mania for no real reason? It's his DREAM! /barron.

Torrie probably got Kidman on the show, so doubt it.
Mecha Mummy Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 You know, I could have sworn that they said something really wacky like "Any cruiserweight can enter" yet the entire cruiser division isn't even in it. I'm looking forward to the match, it could be fun spot madness, but this does irk me a little.
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 Who cares if he's jobbing on Velocity every week and being left off Mania for no real reason? It's his DREAM! /barron. Hey, where is that guy anyway? I remember him saying that he was thrilled that London was signed, even though this was RIGHT after Ultimo Dragon debuted and sent to Velocity after less than a month. And yeah, I'd rather see London in Kidman's place. It's not like Kidman is ANY better than London character-wise at this point, and London is better in the ring. It's ironic that Kidman's stock has fallen and fallen and fallen the more he tried to look like the prototypical WWE guy with the extra bulk, ring attire and the chopped-off hair.
Tawren Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 I don't understand why they won't put London in the match. Seriously, what harm can it do?
cue_meanie Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 Torrie probably got Kidman on the show, so doubt it. You dont know shit
Guest Anglesault Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 Torrie probably got Kidman on the show, so doubt it. You dont know shit Expain? I see a heatless, dull, whiner who only has his job because his wife says she'll quit if they fire him on Wrestlemania XX. It baffles me.
Guest Real F'n Show Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 I don't understand why they won't put London in the match. Seriously, what harm can it do? I'd imagine it would make the rest of the cruisers "look bad" in Vince's opinion, what with London busting out standing ssps and kip-up ranas. But Vince is a moron. London=ratings.
Michrome Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 I think it sucks that London is being forced to bust out dumb shit like kip-up ranas to try to get over with the crowd, instead of wrestling smart matches, which he excells at. Oh well.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 So...London is officially not in right? Didn't they say on Velocity that Noble was in and Chavo was defending against 9 other people (which I assume was the list that London wasn't on). That blows. They could have easily gotten a new cruiser over in the match...but instead we get Funaki.
clean rob Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 Hey, I'd love to see London at Mania as much as the next guy, but there's no need for any Funaki hating.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 I wasn't hating on Funaki...but Mania or not...they can't repair him into a cruiser contender.
King Cucaracha Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 Well, I don't know why London isn't in the match. It was only last month he got on Heat with Kidman, Tajiri, Akio and the like. Baffling. And while we're on the Funaki subject, if anyone's been booked so badly they shouldn't be in London's place, lets not forget Shannon Moore. He's been A-Train's bitch again for the past few weeks on Velocity, so why he's in I don't know.
Guest Dids Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 My bet wold be that Moore's the guy who makes the last 4. I'd like to think he'd be in the final two, but unless they work an angle where Chavo Sr. screws Rey- I think you're seeing Rey either go over or make the final two. I'd love to see London in there, but he isn't known enough outside the net to warrent it. Although I wish they'd do this WCW style, and have every cruiser in the promotion in there (complete with Jericho introductions). Here's my other cute idea. Josh Matthews enters because "any cruiserweight can" and he lasts near the end. Matthews is supposed to be decent, and I think for a surprise angle that would work very well.
AnonymousBroccoli Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 During the match on Velocity, Mathews and DeMott talked about London not being in the 'Mania match, and how he's got to be disappointed. Josh mentioned that he might try to do some last-minute lobbying to get in, but it was probably just filler chat.
Spaceman Spiff Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 Since there wasn't a Velocity thread, I'll mention here that Knoble/London was pretty damn sweet. London's big bump, Knoble's dropkick to London as London attempted to skin the cat, the Northern Lights suplex & pin reversed into the match-ending submission. Awesome match.
MillenniumMan831 Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 Since there wasn't a Velocity thread, I'll mention here that Knoble/London was pretty damn sweet. London's big bump, Knoble's dropkick to London as London attempted to skin the cat, the Northern Lights suplex & pin reversed into the match-ending submission. Awesome match. No doubt about that. London was phenominal and is just what WWE needs to pop the crowd early on in that match. I also rmember Bill asking if Josh would enter and Josh declined . . . or that may have been last week.
Guest Deviant Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 London won't be in the Open. It doesn't make the tiniest bit of sense, but they've shown the match graphic. For those of us who can count, there are ten guys on that screen, and London isn't one of them. Fuck WWE.
clean rob Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 It's still not totally out of the question that he could do a run-in, as it would fit with the match stipulations, and if he got a good reaction this week on Velocity it might be considered. Unlikely, though.
EricMM Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 *pops in ROH 1 yr anniv. show* London we miss you
