Guest TheHulkster Report post Posted March 7, 2004 WM XX Pop of the night The Candidates: (Raw side) RVD: A real long shot, but RVD is always over whenever he goes to the Big Apple. A lot of old ECW fans are probably going to Mania. Chris Benoit: Benoit is one those guys that every fan respects, but few react to live initially (in comparison to others at his level). His pop usually comes late in the match or at the end of the match. Michaels and Hunter are sure to bring their A-game, so this should be a hell of a match. If RR2003 is any kind of indication, Benoit could get the pop of the night post match. Especially if he wins the strap. HBK: This ain't Texas, but Shawn has a huge following. On one hand, he was booed out of the Garden when he dropped the strap to Sid. On the other hand, he got a monster sized pop when he won the first EC at the Garden a couple years ago. I Just don't see any chance of him winning the belt Sunday. Ya never know. Goldberg: He's been off of TV for a while. Regardless of that though, Goldberg has that aura that few have ever had in pro wrestling. NYC has had some strange crowds though. He might get a glorious ovation or booed out of the building like the man above. It's his last match for the company, there is no in between. Mick Foley: He's sure to get a huge pop. There are a ton of Foley fans in the area and it's his first match in almost 4 years. Just how huge remains to be seen. Stone Cold Steve Austin: It's unlikely, but the fans could be booing Goldberg out of the building and Austin could end up dropping him with the Stunner. So there is a chance. The Rock: Absense makes the heart grow fonder, and besides, it's the fucking Rock. He's going to be Foley's partner and he's probably going to be in the ring with Ric Flair. He's a heavy favorite. (Smackdown side) Brock Lesnar: He's got the same chance as Austin. It all relies on how the fans react to Goldberg at the Garden. Lesnar was so over when he wrestled in the Garden for the first time on PPV that it shut up every single hater on here (and if you remember this place, Brock Lesnar was the Randy Orton of 2K2). It could happen again. Eddie Guerrero: You could argue that Eddie is the most over guy in the WWE right now. He's got some tough competition, but all signs point to his match with Angle to be a classic. He could get Benoit heat after the match. John Cena: His aura may overcome his spot on the card. The Undertaker: This guy is the odds on favorite. He's coming back after over 4 months off to one of the most over gimmicks in the history of the company, to one of the hottest crowds in the world. Rey Mysterio: Rey can sell a beating like no other. If he comes into the CO at like number 3 and lasts untill the end, he's guaranteed a monster pop. His finisher is the Jake Roberts DDT of today. He's got an off chance due to the match he's involved in. Who do you think will get the biggest pop at the Granddaddy of 'em all in the world's greatest arena? Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 7, 2004 I'd lay money on Undertaker. Eddie is a distant second.
Hektik 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2004 I have a feeling that the New York crowd will be on the side of Benoit, not Michaels. He won't get pop of night, that will go to Taker. The only way someone will get a bigger pop is if Hulk Hogan or Bret Hart make a surprise apperance. But those two are not going to go, so it will be Taker. Tawren 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2004 Depends on how things are booked. Eddie might get booed if he pins Angle in 5:00, you don't know.

jester 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2004 I'd lay money on Undertaker. Eddie is a distant second. Seconded. They'll probably go all-out for his entrance too, so that will only make them louder.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 7, 2004 The only thing that could hurt Eddie is that MSG really likes Angle.
Guest Deebo Report post Posted March 7, 2004 Undertaker I think will obviously get the biggest pop. But I expect to hear lots of Eddie chants.

Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2004 Undertaker, definitely. The real question is second-place. MSG likes their hosses, and I guess the Goldberg/Brock will be the result of that. On one hand, I'd imagine the feud is eventually going to be Brock/Austin, but Austin is wounded and Goldberg has to job somehow. If it winds up being a swerve and Austin and Brock team up, expect the crowd to turn on Goldberg as it suddently becomes two WWF guys giving the WCW punk what he's getting for crashing WrestleMania in the building of McMahon. Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2004 Undertaker gets the Pop of the YEAR credit probably. Eddie will get the second largest, Rock gets third largest. I'd normally give Rock the #2 spot behind Undertaker (and first if it wasn't the Deadman return), but I can't get excited about him this go-around for some reason. I hope the MSG crowd turns on any Michaels or HHH win in the Triple Threat. I mean like, super displeasure being shown, like throwing shit and voiciferous booing. King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2004 Taker by miles...Eddie obviously, Rock should be pretty high up on the list, and the same with Cena when he goes over Show. Benoit'll only get big pops if he wins or puts on a good match. Can't remember the last time his actual entrance got a sizeable crowd reaction (compared with his position on the card that is.) Guest BionicRedneck Report post Posted March 7, 2004 I dunno about Rock, actually. Afterall, MSG fans seem to like to think of themselves as 'smart', so he may get a mixed reaction, as they know he's only back for a couple of weeks. Taker gets the biggest pop. Foley/Eddie second. Austin third.
clean rob 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2004 1) Taker [entrance] 2) Benoit [post-match] 3) Brock [post-match] Tough to guess, actually (apart from the obvious monster Taker pop).
Toxxic 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2004 I'd just like to add a darkhorse mention for the Dudleys, who I believe might sneak into the top three. They got an INSANE reaction on Heat, and they'll be in their hometown for Mania. So they might pull out a surprise. My picks would be Taker followed by Eddie and then either the Dudleys or Rock. They got an INSANE reaction on Heat, and they'll be in their hometown for Mania. So they might pull out a surprise. Their reunion reaction at SurSer 02 (MSG again) was pretty respectable too, so you may have a point. And I'm sure people would boo Rock because he's leaving again, but then again the reaction he got last week was awesome...plus, some people might think cheering for The Rock may change his mind on leaving again. It won't, but some people might think that.
Guest JumpinJackFlash Report post Posted March 7, 2004 At Survivor Series 2002, there were some "Eddy" chants even though he was a heel. So, I believe he'll get a monster pop as a face at Wrestlemania 20. However, Taker will have the biggest pop of the night. 7 days away! It's going to be awesome! I can't wait! Remember what happened LAST time someone in the WWF exposed themselves at MSG (see: RR'00) *shudder* Yeah, Mae Young is so funny! You so crazy, girl! Even if not intentional, the law of averages dictates Jackie's about due to have a tit or two pop out, right?

Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted March 8, 2004 Benoit will only get a pop if he wins the title. I think the entire show will have mad heat. I'll say the Undertaker and Mick Foley will have the biggest.
