I've only gotten one e-mail from THQ so far and that e-mail was basically to confirm to EVERYONE that Online play is CONFIRMED for SD 6. Can you imagine playing a Royal Rumble online. It's going to be the pinnacle of wrestling games. THE FIRST EVER ONLINE WRESTLING GAME! This is also confirmed as the LAST wrestling game for the PS2. The next game is already being semi-developed for the PS3. They want to have the game out, at or shortly after the PS3's release date.

Well, the last Smackdown game has six wrestlers and a ref on the screen at the same time.

 

I'm waiting for this game. I really enjoy the current Smackdown game, so if they improve on that, it should make for a great game.

That's probably because it is a Triple H catch phrase, and Helmsley is a RAW guy.

 

The countless Rocky catch phrase titles can be attributed to Smackdown! being named after the Rock in the first place.

 

An Eddie related title would own asses of several varieties.

I said loong ago Word Life would probably be the title, but up until now we've only had Rock and Brock post-title win. So likely they'd want to stick with hot, merchandising-friendly champs, which would be Eddy. Unless Cena's merchandising is hotter than Eddy's.

Actually, In the other WWE game thread, I bashed having an installment every year because it's not like games like WMXIX and HCTP are even stale yet and they're already hard at work making the same game with slight control improvements and updated rosters. But I'm not going to bash this--the idea of online gaming DOES sound pretty damn cool. I wonder if they'll let us bring CAWs onto the net as our wrestling personalities, or if they'll limit it to the real rosters for bandwidth reasons? And I wonder, if like clans for SOCOM II, if you could have "stables?"

Problem with that is can you name 6 of the top Smackdown stars?

* Undertaker may not be around after SummerSlam since his return to the old school gimmick means a one final run. Which possibly means he's gone before Smackdown 6 and Vince decides not to have him in the game.

 

** This is assuming Rob Van Dam moves over to Smackdown.

 

This is assuming the first six people will be on Smackdown, and hence be on the cover. If not, then you have the last six on the cover.

I cannot wait to see the new Undertaker model that will undoubtably debut in this game (for his Deadman gimmick).

 

I also hope to God they can shake the Lex Luger syndrome from Triple H and actually make him look like his real life counterpart.
