Guest bort Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 I just listened to Mike Johnsons Hotline at PWI, he made a referance to Ron having a drug problem that he didnt want to get worked out as his reason for being let go
Guest hunger4unger Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 According to Kevin Malton of (X)PWBTS (the name lives on): Who? Um..uh..that's me.
Lil' Bitch Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 They didn't let him go back to being a road agent?!! What a bunch of horseshit.
Bruiser Chong Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 You mean him being released didn't answer that? As a rule of thumb, when you get fired, you aren't given another job within the same company. Anyway, it's being reported that "inappropriate behavior" on the part of one Mr. Simmons over the Wrestlemania weekend is what did him in. The drug tidbit may have a tie-in here, but obviously, we won't know until we're told what exactly he did. I would hope it was at least drug-related, since his partner has gotten off the hook for many drunken disturbances over the years.
LucharesuFan619 Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 According to Kevin Malton of (X)PWBTS (the name lives on): Who? The same guy who was recently banned for acting like a moron on WZForums.com.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 I believe that I heard that the Faarooq cut/angle on SmackDown! didn't tie in, but I just viewed SmackDown! this evening, and it seemed to make perfect sense to me. But I must ask - what's next for Bradshaw? I think that the reasons addressed on SmackDown! are pretty much it, as far as him being on the WWE payroll.
Guest glennsoe Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 The reason Ron Simmons was released from WWE was actually because of a drug related issue that he refused to seek help for or even acknowledge. Some are even going as far as to say that may have been the reason for him standing up to The Big Show last week. Simmons was also said to be very unpleasant when it came to last weekends WMXX PPV. He was ticked off that WWE would not get him a personal limo from the hotel to MSG the night of the show. He was asked to take the private bus rented by WWE for all of the superstars to ride on. Apparently that wasn't good enough for his standards though. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Several weeks ago we had reported that Ron Simmons had been considering retiring once again. His plan was to retire, this time for good, and become a road agent with WWE. Simmons really started to tick people off backstage in WWE though in recent weeks. He recently stood up at the pre-SmackDown! meeting and told The Big Show to 'sit down and shut up' which led to a brief altercation. The nail in the coffin for Simmons was the WrestleMania XX festivities. Simmons had a known alcohol problem that he was not addressing. He was said to be a mess all weekend at WMXX which management was aware of. The decision was then made to release him. He was not notified of his release until Thursday afternoon, just hours before an angle that was taped at the SmackDown! tapings where he was 'fired' was set to air on national television.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 Oh, well. He's gone now. And it was done well.
2GOLD Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 Lemme get this straight....ok.... The guy had a known alcohol problem and for a good amount of time the WWE was sitting beer after beer in front of him? So, Simmons is basically Austin but only Austin is allowed to be the abusive drunk in the company.

Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 I still love Farooq. And yea, how could Vicne know he has a drinking problem then give him all this beer to drink each week on-air? They really helped that situation.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 He hasn't drank beer on air for quite a while.

So, Simmons is basically Austin but only Austin is allowed to be the abusive drunk in the company. Alcoholism is a stable of WWE lifestyle! It seems that WWE enjoys showing their tough love on tv with past angles of Jake Roberts vs Jerry Lawler, Scott Hall vs Steve Austin and of course APA playing cards getting drunk...........one might conclude that Spanky left because he could not drink Bradshaw under the table.
MillenniumMan831 Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 Whenver I think of Ron Simmons, I think of Gary Michael Capetta announcing on a fateful summer day in 1992 . . . "The winner of this bout . . . AND NEWWWWW WCW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION . . . THE ALL AMERICAN, RON SIIIIMONS!!!!!" With the scene of that kid sobbing in the front row.
razazteca Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 I guess the kid was not a fan of FSU......

King Cucaracha Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 Well, it's good they fired him if this is true. But then again, one article says drug problem and the other says alcohol problem. That doesn't mean it's not true...but still.
EdwardKnoxII Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 Thats the angle spunky. Bradshaw sells out his pal in order to keep his paycheck and portfolio DESPITE the fact that Bradshaw was the one that took the pin in the match that cost Farooq his job. I mean a-doy. NO, it means another awful Bradshaw singles push and in this one everyone is kissing his ass. And they got rid of the good half of the team to help jump start it.
Lil' Bitch Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 *becoming WCW Champion *fueding with Ahmed Johnson *the blue Nerf football shaped helmet *The Nation of Domination *The Acolytes Those will always be the memories I cherish of Farooq. Oh yeah and the Dominator was a badass move.
CanadianChick Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 Just merged the two Faarooq threads. No need for more than one.

How do you figure? You've never seen an APA segment? I guess I read it the wrong way, and it's just been a while since I've seen Bradshaw and/or Faarooq imbibe alcohol on air.
