The Mandarin Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 Obviously, no hardcore bumps are more revered than Mick Foley's fall off the Hell in a Cell, but what falls/slams/hits would you say are more insane or dangerous than Mick Foley's?
Guest Anglesault Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 (edited) Shane thinking it would be a good idea for Kurt to launch him upside down, back first into those glass walls. Forget what actually happened, who the hell knows what could have happened if those walls broke instead of shattering? Edited March 20, 2004 by Anglesault
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 Shane thinking it would be a good idea for Kurt to launch him upside down, back first into those glass walls. Forget what actually happened, who the hell knows what could have happened if those walls broke instead of shattering? Maybe Shane wouldn't have been around to kill Kanes heat then. All kidding aside, the first TLC had a few holy shit bumps, including one by Matt Hardy late in the match. OUCH.
Guest Choken One Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 Kurt Angle with his severe neck injury taking a F5 from the Concussed Rookie Lesnar.
Papacita Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 Matt Hardy going off the ladder backwards in one of the TLC matches. You couldn't pay me to do that.

Guest Choken One Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 I agree...Forward? Hell Yeah, anyone can do that...but here Matt was just banking that he was properly aligned with the tables... WWE Keeps showing the Swanton but Matt's Backwards into pile o tables was more insane...but Since Jeff was the "good" hardy and it was more "pretty"...they re-air it all the time.

Christians complete dump from the top of the ladder to the floor from WM X-Seven gets no respect, being over-shadowed by (which I think was also a holy shit bump) the Spear by Edge on.....Jeff Hardy from the giant ladder while Hardy is dangling from the belts.
Guest Anglesault Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 I agree...Forward? Hell Yeah, anyone can do that...but here Matt was just banking that he was properly aligned with the tables... I'm the opposite. I could never, ever do it forward. The "Don't look down" principle. I think I could force myself to go backwards.

Sandman9000 Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 The Nick Mondo/John Zandig suicide attempt.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 I know I'll get chewed out for this but....Who's Nick Mondo?
theintensifier Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 LOL. He's a now retired hardcore wrestler. He is 20 something and already retired from injuries. Cage of Death IV: the ladder match is just insane, and the COD is off the charts insane. Lobo vs. Zandig COD. Lobo DVD's Zandig off the cage through a couple of tables. Zandig press slams Lobo into the ring off the top of the cage through a table with two chairs set up with a pane of glass over the chairs.

There's endless crazy shit in those matches. I remember after Summerslam was over and I was done taping it, I immediately watched that match over, unbelieving some of the shit they did. In the first one, some spots that stick out were: a freaking Bubba Bomb off the ladders which looked like it jammed Christian's spine up through his skull; someone, I think Christian getting sandwiched inside a ladder, after Bubba or Matt threw Edge off the top onto it; Matt's crazy ass backwards fall as mentioned already; the missed swanton through the table; Bubba's fall through the four tables, although if you watch, while he's climbing up the ladder he looks over at the tables to make sure he's aligned so I knew it was coming; and then with Jeff and D-Von dangling from the belt for the first time and falling. Add to that all of the crazy shit that went on in the next three, and you have a match custom made for dangerous bumps.

Agreed. I think Christian did the ladder-straight-to-floor bump so he wouldn't feel left out when all his buddies did insane bumps...
Guest Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 I think that when Christian took the bump, he could have crotched himself on the top but I guess the thought of that changed his mind.
Papacita Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 There was one match (can't remember which one) where they had the ladders set up like a see-saw. Matt was on the mat next to the ladder, when someone (Bubba or Jeff one) fell on the elevated end, causing the ladder to snap up and hit Matt in the head. I dunno if that spot was planned or not, but that was fucking nasty!
Guest Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 I think that was the TLC that was on Smackdown IIRC.
Ced Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 While everybody's rattling off the hardcore match bumps, I'll go ahead and mention Billy Kidman's springboard Shooting Star Press to the outside. So many things that can possibly go wrong there. And might as well list a hardcore match risky bump and mention the New Jack/Vic Grimes scaffold incident that damn near killed New Jack.
JoeDirt Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 You can see the Mondo bump at his website: nickmondo.com That Vic Grimes bump from XPW was scary...stupid and scary.
Guest The Last Free Voice Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 I'd like to add Jack Evan's Double moonsault from the top of the scramble cage.
Guest Markingout Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 Yeah, Evans barely gets caught too. His knee smacks the ground and Angeldust runs to see if he is alright. A risky bump was the failed Ki Krusher off the ladder. If Ki would of hit that Xavier would be fucking dead. That whole match was way ahead of its time. Evans with the moonsault into a senton off the pit at the CZW Arena onto Teddy and Petey was sick too. Once again they barely caught the poor kid.

CanadianChick Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 Oh, I've thought of one. During the most recent RVD/Orton match, when Orton was knocked silly after getting knocked into the post. Now, if you're RVD, are you going to trust a guy who's not all there to implant you straight on your head with sick looking DDT, when you are crotched on the top rope? If you said no, you obviously have more brain cells than Rob.
eiker_ir Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 at Wrestlemania 2000, during the Thriple Threat between Jericho, Angle & Benoit, near the end of the match, Benoit just KILLED Angle with a Dragon suplex, he landed right on his head and was completely dead after it
razazteca Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 I think the Shoot Star Press to the outside as done by Kidman from Wrestlemania XX is a bump that nobody should ever attepmt again. A few years ago on one of the lucha libre shows from Galavision I seen the midget Ultimo Dragoncito do the Asai Moonsault and land on his face with little to no protection from mini Pierrothcito. Poor Dragoncito was spitting up blood from his mouth.
The Metal Maniac Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 I think that when Christian took the bump, he could have crotched himself on the top but I guess the thought of that changed his mind. The best part is, he COULDN'T crotch himself on the rope, because Matt Hardy fell too, but he hit the ropes first and dragged them down and out of Christian's flight plan. Christian always took those floor bumps, for reasons I can't recall. Oh, and being powerbombed over the top rope, through a table, to the floor. Risky enough as is, but JESUS LORD, I thought Masato Tanaka killed Mike Awesome with that. Awesome hit the table head-first just about, the thing exploded, and he folded up like an accordian on the floor, before springing back into place. Disturbing.

It was definitely one of the TLC matches (probably the Smackdown one), and it was Matt alone who got it.
Sandman9000 Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 Hurricane Kid going for a second-rope corkscrew senton to the outside, and his intended target, Eric Tuttle the Towel Boy, moving out of the way, letting Kid smack back-first onto the gravel and dirt on the outside. Vicious, vicious bump. Also add in Necro Butcher's new tendency to be thrown from standing on the top rope onto the outside onto nothing but concrete/cement/asphault.
