Guest Guybrush Threepwood Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 What an appropriately named event. According to this coming weeks edition of the Observer, the main event of Judgment Day will be Eddy defending the title against Bradshaw. That's right, Bradshaw in the main event of a PPV challenging for the WWE Championship. Come back Big Bossman, all is forgiven.
Just call me Dan Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 Better than Holly. WWE is just trying to resurrect people's careers. It happened to the Big Show. I knew he'd be doing it sometime, since rumors have been flying of a major Bradshaw push since back when the WWE was planning on splitting the Acolytes in 1999-2000 and have them feud before being title bound. Who knows, we may like his character, and with Eddy in the other corner, we could see a *** carry. No biggie.
Guest Brian Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 At least Bob had the NASCAR dads. All Bradshaw has is the prison ass-rape demographic.
OldSchoolWrestling Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 While I personally wouldn't pay for shit like this, I have no problem with matches like this at the lesser ppv's. Holly at Rumble I didn't agree with but if it were at a No Way Out or Judgement Day then I'm fine with it. Save the better matchups for the better ppvs. Back in the day Flair during the Bash tour would wrestle guys like Ricky Morton, the Road Warriors, etc. Anyone seen Bash 87 when he wrestled Jim Garvin? Good stuff. Its a guaranteed win for Eddie and at the same time saves a good match for something like Summerslam.
King Cucaracha Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 At least Bob had the NASCAR dads. All Bradshaw has is the prison ass-rape demographic. Bradshaw has the financial wizards of the world behind him. Plus, Bradshaw can pimp Judgement Day on whatever other channel he's on (Fox, right? I didn't pay much attention when it was mentioned.)
Open the Muggy Gate Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 He's also got the Fox Net and CNN demographic too. All 5 of them.
NYU Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 Well, thank God that RVD and Booker T were moved onto Smackdown. Someone needs to give Bradshaw credibility. ....Good God, do they actually think Bradshaw is gonna bring in buyrates?! Just what the hell is the logic here?!
haVoc Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 I could careless if this is looked at as a lesser PPV. I buy them all and expect good angles, feuds and matches. Bradshaw?...... No,.
NYU Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 While I personally wouldn't pay for shit like this, I have no problem with matches like this at the lesser ppv's Don't you see the problem here? YOU wouldn't pay to see this match. I wouldn't pay to see this match. I'm sure that there's a lot of people who, faced with a choice, would NOT pay $35 to watch this match. The fact that such an awful choice is being made for the Main Event could be crushing for the PPV as a whole. The point of Pay-Per-Views are to get buyrates and make profits. By putting on this low-caliber Main Event, Vince will be doing the opposite. He's actually hurting a Brand Extension PPV that needs as much public support as it can possibly get. Which is exactly the problem. Regardless of what PPV this is - lesser or not - putting this match out there is unacceptable. At least with the Royal Rumble, Lesnar/Holly was surrounded by the Royal Rumble match itself and the Last Man Standing battle. This Heavyweight Title match will be out there by itself, and it's practically designed to fail. Just a terrible business decision all-around.
Guest JumpinJackFlash Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 Hopefully, the PPV that's going to be in Norflok won't have as crappy as a main event. I mean, the WWE has the potential to put on a great Main Event. How about another RVD/Eddy Ladder Match? That would be awesome! Even HHH vs. Guerrero would be better than this....just as long as HHH loses.
Guest Coffey Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 You know, if Bradshaw even had a slither of talent that Stan Hansen or Barry Windham had, I wouldn't care so much. Seeing as that's who it looks like he molds most of his style afterwards, I don't know why it comes off so badly.

Not to single you out on this one Coffey, but I hate the fact that people ALWAYS try and make those comparisons about Bradshaw. Just because he does the lariat doesn't mean he is anything like Hansen or Windham. Hell, he can't work half as good as Windham and he honestly shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Hansen. But for christ's sake could people stop comparing Bradshaw to friggin Hansen and Windham......enough already.......and that is why it comes off so badly when Bradshaw does it.
bobobrazil1984 Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 the pessimist in me thinks that someone's deliberatly trying to sabotage Eddie by pitting him agaisnt Bradshaw in a ppv, and use the tanked buyrate of it against Eddy... then I remember the kinda wrestlers Vince likes... oy vey!
Kahran Ramsus Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 If they weren't going to use Big Show, they could have at least promoted Haas instead of Bradshaw. Or hell, even Chavo.
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 TOLD YA! And people were thinking that this was somehow leading to pushes for Booker T and... *LOL* Rob Van Dam. All that's left is for Billy Gunn to get a confusing push out of nowhere and the Trifecta of New Generation Perennial Midcarders getting main event PPV matches will be complete. I really don't care if Bradshaw puts out ****+ matches every night (like he could on his best day anyway) to try and justify this, he still is a chunky overbearing completely unlikeable Texan in my book.

I assume you were joking, but one thing we don't need is a conspiracy theory for everyone to drone on about.

Is it going to be Benoit vs Michaels straight up or will they add a ladder match to it? Is HHH going to stick his nose in?
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 WOO!!!! Now Bradshaw can injure Eddie on a house show and be rewarded with a title reign just like Big Show in 02!!!!
AndrewTS Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 At least Bob had the NASCAR dads. All Bradshaw has is the prison ass-rape demographic. Bradshaw has the financial wizards of the world behind him. Not if he keeps pimping WWE stock as a wise investment. All I gotta add is--this PPV had better have a damn strong undercard.
JoeDirt Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 At least we all know that it's just another guy for Eddie to beat to continue is title reign. I say give it a chance. We need to be fair and balanced about this.
DrVenkman PhD Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 No, Meltzer is wrong. Bradshaw is filler because there is no April PPV. Angle or Booker T will face Eddie at Judgment Day because I said so, and because I don't want Bradshaw main eventing. The plus side of it possibly being accurate is, as mentioned, we know Eddie isn't losing to him.
Enigma Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 I've been a WON subscriber for over a year and I've NEVER gotten my newsletter on Thursday. Unless this guy lives in California, this is a joke.

I mean, the man had just lost to Jeff Hardy two months earlier! But all of a sudden, Brock got injured and we found ourselves with Show being champ for a month. DON'T assume this can't happen with Eddie.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 I don't care if Bradshaw is compared to Windham, Hansen or as far off as Benoit. I refuse to pay $35 with the headlining match reading Eddie Guerrero vs. BRADSHAW as the WORLD TITLE MATCH!
Guest nikowwf Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 Eddy vs. Bradshaw is a horrid horrid main event. Its not a good match, it won't be over regardless of what they do, and unlike Big Show (the person usually in these horrid main events), Bradshaw is not seen as a threat and is not over at all, not even a little. He's worse than Bob Holly, at least Holly had an issue they were trying to exploit. I think this falls apart massively and never comes off. I'm glad there's so much time before the PPV. niko

Should I be saying 'anal' in a thread about Bradshaw?
EdwardKnoxII Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 If this match does happen at a PPV and gets a bad buyrate I wonder who will get the blame. Hmmmm.

If Bradshaw wins it will have the credibility of the Womens Tag Team Titles from the 1980s. .....That would be NONE for anyone not familiar, although those Bomb Angels from 87-88 were kickass awesome.
