High School Grades

Recommended Posts

Homework and studying's overrated, especially in grade 11. Grade 12 is the only one that counts.

Actually most colleges don't really look at your 12th grade year, since the admissions process starts at the beginning of the year, so 11th grade is actually more important

Well, up here, apparently, universities just care if you pass the grade 11 courses. Unless my councillers lie, which could very much be so.

It you're getting a B average, you'll get into most universities in Canada. Definately UBC and SFU, since a lot more spaces have opened up due to the tuition increases.

Getting higher than that is only useful if you want to get early entrance into a department like Comp Sci or Engineering.

Are you fucking serious? Everyone over here keeps saying it's next to impossible to get into SFU and UBC now. The recommended average in the science department is something like 85%. I think I may be going somewhere else; like Manitoba or Rhode Island. Maybe then I could get on the swim team because that is next to impossible to do with UBC and SFU too.

The entrance requirements for SFU can be brutal, depending on the faculty. Straight up entrance into Comp Sci used to be 95% or something retarded like that. It's easy to get around though. Just apply as an Arts major. Arts has stupidly low requirements, and they always let people in. So just say that you want to major in History or Sociology, and take whatever courses you actuallyt want. Eventually you can internal transfer to the faculty you want, which is usually pretty painless. For example, that 95% Comp Sci entrance drops to a 2.6 GPA, which is a C+.

3.6 (unweighted) at the moment. My class is too small to rank stuff because being 20th for example would be applauded everywhere, when that's about the middle mark for my school...

Going into my senior year, my GPA was at 2.7 or so. I did less my senior year than all other three years COMBINED and raised my GPA up to a 3.3, with a final rank of about 100 out of 216. I had a pretty (book)smart class.

I had about a 3.0 in high school and wound up being just in the fourth quarter of my class. I went to a pretty academic school....kinda pissed me off, but meh...life doesn't end at 18.

Forgive my ignorance of you GPA system, but what's the difference between weighted and unweighted?

I had an 87 average for my first semester, mid terms at second are 87, average for my top six courses are....87. What the fuck ever.

I don't know about the rankings, but last year I was 22 out of 324. I think I would actually rise, considering my average was higher, but everyone turns it up senior year, so I don't know.

My University entrance score (which is the most important thing over here in Australia) was 98.85/100 which pretty much means straight A's in everything.

I was ranked 4th out of about 420 students over grades 11 and 12.

But as soon as you leave highschool no one really gives a shit. Over here, unless you want to get into medicine or pharmacy you'll get in anywhere with almost any score (Engineering's minimum was about 30/100 this year)

22 out of 496. I was 11th going into my senior year of high school, and pretty much said fuck it.

I don't remember what my adjusted GPA was (I had those wacky weighted AP courses, too); I just remember that my average went from a high A to a low B+ in my senior year.

1.28 High School gpa or something like that. Hell it may of been .128.

Somehow I managed to never actually fail a single class, so I have no clue what any of it meant. I'm actually decently smart...I was just lazy. Guidance Counselers tried to say I had learning problems, but nope I was just lazy.

Guest Dids

I had a 3.5. Just missed honors by like .01. Thanks to a D in Freshman Geography.

I never studied in high school. Never did in college either. Which I think makes my 2.5 there even more impressive.

Dids=I slack better than you do.
