Dogbert 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 What a pile of shit. Two blatant penalties go uncalled. I knew the refs were against Calgary before, but NOBODY need doubt it now. The Canuckleheads are cheaters, and we got screwed.

nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 While I definitely think the Bruins are the better team, they were hugely outplayed for most of the series, and thus the more deserving team won. I really can't express how disapointed I am in my team, they had the strongest team that they've had in a decade and were lucky to stretch the series to 7 before getting eliminated. Sullivan should be fired; how does he wait until game 7 to change lines, and still not change their attack?? All season the B's got killed by fast teams that could outrace them to the puck to clear it out when they attempted to dump-and-chase it in ... and that's exactly what the Habs did all series. Hal Gill should be traded for a bag of pucks, if there's a team dumb enough to give up a bag of pucks for him. You either play the man or play the body, don't just shepherd the player behind the net and then let him go. Do something to tall idiot. The B's can't get rid of him fast enough to appease me. Most of the forwards should be purged: to expedite it, I'll name the players that shouldn't be cast aside .... Thornton (broken ribs buys him one more postseason, but if he no-shows again next time he should be dealt). Nylander. Samsonov (and I normally hate Sergei, but he plays well with Nylander). Bergeron. Green. Lapointe. Every other forward can go. Congratulations to the Canadiens and their fans.

Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 Ouch, 2-0 Leafs early. First goal was not Lalime's fault but the second one was terrible.

Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted April 21, 2004 The Leafs won't be playing a bunch of heartless and gutless pukes like the Sens. Toronto is playing terribly, but the Senators are just too soft. Lack confidence. Alfredson is a horrible leader. Overated player. Lalime is terrible. But what do the Leafs have? Nothing. Only Belfour. And thankfully for them, Belfour has been the best player in the entire playoffs. He is making Giguere's performance from last year seem ordinary. But Flyers have so many more weapons. The Leafs won't push them around. I could see that one ending in 4 games.
the max 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 THAT was BOARDING!?! Tucker should become an actor. He'd win an Oscar for that performance.
Tawren 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 I just want to mention how shocked I am that the Calgary Flames, aka Nature's Cruellest Joke, are in the 2nd round. I didn't (and to be honest still don't) have faith in them because of their past failures, but they did it.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 Well, if the Flames could make that massive comeback in their Game 6, Ottawa sure as hell can.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted April 21, 2004 THAT was BOARDING!?! Tucker should become an actor. He'd win an Oscar for that performance. Who cares. The Senators are playing with zero heart...they're disregarding the use of their brain. Luckily, the Leafs are just horrible up front, so if Belfour slips up oncce or twice, they can still win. That penalty summarizes how this game has been going. This game seven is embarassing compared to the Canucks/Flames. Its a shame one of those two teams had to go home, when neither of these two teams look like they deserve to have made the playoffs. The Leafs should give their playoff bonus' to Belfour, he's the reason why they'll be going to the second round. The Senators need to fire their coach, trade for a goalie, and rescind their deal to Alfredson. Possibly trade Reddon and/or Chara...neither are worth a damn. starvenger 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 THAT was BOARDING!?! Tucker should become an actor. He'd win an Oscar for that performance. The ESPN guys thought the penalty would be for an Alfredsson slash (which, of course, we never got to see so that they could prove their case). But I agree - bad call any way you slice it. But Flyers have so many more weapons. The Leafs won't push them around. I could see that one ending in 4 games. The Flyers have a huge advantage in that they're resting at home. Whoever they play will be in tough. The Sens have used their speed to their advantage against Philly, while the Leafs would have to find some to compete. I do think though, that Esche and Burke can be beaten, and whoever plays them is gonna have to attack them.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted April 21, 2004 Hossa and Bondra have speed. Thats it. The Sens play scared...Mike Fisher got scared when Ron FUCKING Francis came into the corner to hit him. What the fuck would they do when Primeau comes chugging in? or even Mark Recchi. The Devils team that was just eliminated is not unlike the Leafs now, and the Flyers crucified them. The Flyers are suspect in net, but how many shots are the Leafs getting against the soft Senators defense? Like what, 10-15/game? That just can't happen against the stronger, tougher, and faster Flyers. The Sens may have a better chance because they do have an offensive flair.

That just can't happen against the stronger, tougher, and faster Flyers. Primeau, I don't worry about - he's never really been a playoff presence. Mind you, my time in Detroit MAY have biased me against him. Recchi... yeah, he's a gamer. Like I said, the Leafs would be in tough (and as I type this, Tucker draws ANOTHER bad penalty. At least this time he played on - this one is all on the refs). They're a grinding team who don't Trap (if they do, they're doing a damn poor job of it), BUT they always manage to get teams to play their game. Not that Hitchcock or Clarke will mind that... the max 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 The Senators need to fire their coach Only if Nolan replaces him. I don't know if any of their skilled players would respond to a Mike Keenan or someone. trade for a goalie Totally agree. Patrick Lalime played like shit this season and why Ottawa didn't get Kolzig at the deadline is still beyond me. and rescind their deal to Alfredson. This I don't understand. Alfredsson lit a fire under their asses by guaranteeing they'd be back for game 7, he's been playing decently, but he's a great PK and the point man on the PP. Possibly trade Reddon and/or Chara...neither are worth a damn. Redden maybe, but CHARA?! FFS, he's been the only constant. He's the biggest guy in the league and can play in a variety of positions (front of the net on the PP, defensive defenseman, offensive defenseman, PK, PP). Trade Radek Bonk. They've given him chance after chance after chance, and he's proven that he doesn't rise up to the challenge in a tight series. Trade him, make room for Spezza and move on. Trading Bonk for either picks, or a few prospects would restock the farm system and allow them to be deep at the trade deadline like they were this season. Put Lalime on the block. Personally, Kolzig would be my choice.

LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 Too bad to see the Sens eliminated. Both teams don't seem to have much of a chance against Philly though, due to the rest that Philly has gotten. And then Philly plays either Tampa or the Habs, two speedy and small teams. They have a really good shot at coming out of the Eastern Conference. I would love to see Calgary go all the way, but Detroit is a very strong team. Seems like another Colorado/Detroit battle in the West.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 Primeau, I don't worry about - he's never really been a playoff presence. Mind you, my time in Detroit MAY have biased me against him. He is actually someone to look at this year. For some reason he has channeled a Michael Peca in his prime defensive skill set. I am praying to god that the Canadiens get rid of Tampa, as they are the bad draw for the Flyers. Martin St. Louis would fly all around the ice and the Flyers would not catch him. CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 The Senators need to fire their coach Agreed. Nine years in one place is just too long. Quenneville would be a beautiful hire. trade for a goalie Nope. They can get rid of Lalime, but they have a super goalie in the minors, name of Ray Emery. They should bring him up and play him for the entire season, like Colorado did with Aebischer. and rescind their deal to Alfredson. Nope. Alfredsson is a great leader in the dressing room, and a great player on the ice. Maybe he didn't have a great series, but neither did anyone else (except Chara). Possibly trade Reddon and/or Chara...neither are worth a damn. Redden, perhaps, but mentioning Chara is just stupid. He was their best player in this series. They need to get rid of Bonk, he's just a paycheque guy. None of the trade deadline acquisitions really needs to stay around. What they really need is a quality power forward.
