Urban Warfare Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 The National Hockey League has suspended Calgary Flames winger Ville Nieminen for one game as a result of his actions in the waning moments of Calgary's 4-2 loss to Detroit in Game Four. With three seconds remaining, Nieminen skated straight into the Detroit goaltender, knocking him back into the net and was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for charging. Nieminen, a 27 year-old aggravating winger who had scored earlier in the game, has three points in 11 playoff games for the Flames this year. The series, tied 2-2, resumes Saturday in Detroit. TSN.ca
tbondrage99 Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 So The Leafs have tied up the series. For this I say wahoo!!! Followed by GO LEAFS GO!!! Hopefully the momemtun will carry on into the next game.
Red Baron Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 On a side note. My cousin was the 15th overall pick in the OHL draft, selected by the Barrie Colts. Here's The Link. Oh good job on the leafs victory last night.
Lightning Flik Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 On a side note. My cousin was the 15th overall pick in the OHL draft, selected by the Barrie Colts. Here's The Link. First, let me just say that's awesome in respects to your cousin making 15th Overall. And tonight the Sharks look to slay the Avalanche. I think it'll happen, just because I don't think the Avalanche can avoid elimination any longer.
MrRant Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 1-0 San Jose going into the 3rd. I've enjoyed this game so far.
Spaceman Spiff Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 The NHL should be embarrassed by how games 3 & 4 of Philly/Toronto were called. And this goalie interference crap has become a joke.
the max Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 San Jose and Colorado are headed to overtime, at 1-1. Calgary wins 1-0. Kiprusoff was spectacular. Now, after listening to Barry "Slick" Melrose is it: Cal-GARY, Cal-gray, or Cal-ga-ree? I only ask because Slick used all three pronunciations. I've always known it as Cal-ga-ree. EDIT: Not even two minutes in, and it's Sakic...AGAIN with the winner, tying Rocket Richard for the most OT goals in NHL Playoff history. Sharks head back to Colorado only up 3-2, and have to be wavering right now.
starvenger Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 Now, after listening to Barry "Slick" Melrose is it: Cal-GARY, Cal-gray, or Cal-ga-ree? I only ask because Slick used all three pronunciations. I've always known it as Cal-ga-ree. I'm pretty sure that all the oil in the mullet affects your thinking. Kinda like Cherry and the high collars. But you're right, I think - it should be cal-gah-REE. (Edit) I just read that Joe Juneau is retiring, apparently to put his engineering degree to good use. You don't hear that every day...
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Flyers have destroyed the Leafs in the opening period of Game 5.
Spaceman Spiff Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 3-0 Flyers as Primeau puts in a short-handed goal w/ 1 minute left in the 1st.
starvenger Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Great shades of Todd Gill, this has been a bad period for McCabe. Not taking anything away from Roenick and especially Primeau, because the goals were nice, but those were a couple of ugly giveaways.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Blink and you miss the Leafs score...
starvenger Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Scored as I was typing my last post. Nothing personal, Spiff, but I hope that this Primeau doesn't show up in game 6...
treble Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Ho-lee FUCK, that was horrible. That shorthanded one especially hurts since it's a 2 goal instead of a 1 goal lead. Hope they got some momentum from the last one, though.
Guest Fook Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Anyone else in support of limiting McCabe's ice time? His giveaways have led to three Flyer goals in the last two games.
starvenger Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Anyone else in support of limiting McCabe's ice time? His giveaways have led to three Flyer goals in the last two games. Emphasis on giveaways. If he gets the puck, Leetch should skate over, say "I'll take it from here, junior", and bring it up. And Philly, of course, should give the Leafs the courtesy of doing just that.
Guest BrokenWings Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Yeah, what is up with that?! What happened to Esche! Philly scores again. 4-1 -- looks like goaltending isn't that big a deal to Philly at this point in time. Edit: Primeau brought his work boots tonight.
Spaceman Spiff Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 4-1! If this is for anything other than injury, I do not like Burke being in this game at all.
starvenger Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Well, Primeau scored again, so I suppose that doesn't matter. But as for Burke, I suppose the Leafs strategy of "don't shoot on him for most of the period and hope that he pulls something when we do" worked on Esche...
starvenger Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 I'm also glad that this isn't game 7, because this might as well be a replay of last year's...
Guest BrokenWings Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Still no details on Esche, other than the fact he's still in the trainers room and the door is closed. Really weird, I hope it's something to do with like, equipment as they mentioned. I'm just waiting for this game to get ugly at this point, especially if Philly scores again.
Guest BrokenWings Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Fuck - and there's the goal. All about Philly today. Watch the gloves fly.
Guest BrokenWings Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Heh.. might as well pull Belfour at this point. Try and conserve some much needed confidence heading into game six.
starvenger Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Marchment's still in the box though, so no thuggery yet, I'd imagine. So, when's that epic Burke vs Kidd goalie battle gonna take place?
Spaceman Spiff Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 I'm waiting for Belfour to lose it. I just saw him take swipes at 2 Flyers who went by the net.
