Guest T®ITEC Report post Posted April 13, 2004 ...and it's a little difficult to explain to my friends why I have a Utada Hikaru album in my collection. I've just got to ask which album you have. ...For I as well love Jpop, in all its brutal forms. Other guilty pleasures.. the '80s music I grew up with (Men At Work, Cyndi Lauper, etc.)... Uh, and probably Traffic, since no one I know seems to understand why I listen to aged music constantly.
Mole 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2004 I don't really think there's anything too guilty about "Toxic." It's a fun pop song with a really great hook. "Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman" would be more along the lines of a Britney Spears guilty pleasure, except that it sucks. Tell that too my friends at home. spiny norman 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2004 Currently I am listening to Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush. She's definitely a guilty pleasure, especially after seeing her video clip of this song. I'll throw my hat in for Phil Collins also. That will probably do, for now.
PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2004 Come on, Andrew WK is nothing to be ashamed of. He writes some of the better melodies in pop music. I think I'd even go as far to call his second album 'fucking euphoric'. It has made me cry, it is that beautiful.
PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2004 Oh yeah, guilty pleasures. I've recently come to love Suede's debut album. Like, too much.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2004 I also like "Yeah" with Usher and Ludacris. I might be going to see Ludacris in two weeks at UConn's Spring Fest. Oh geez, I want that song to perish in hell. It's NOT Ursher...it's USHER! There is no freaking R in there you illiterate idiot! Why does pronouncing names/words wrong make one hip? Why, dear god, why? My guilty pleasure: Pink. I like nearly all her songs. Not sure why, I just do. Its called a accent. Luda is southern. Alot of southern people do that. You have no idea how many southern old people would say "That Michael Jerdon is a good basketball player" or something like that. I am sure that your Canadianess would have you saying a word or two funny round these parts missy.

Missouri for sure, I know because of Cedric the Entertainer and Nelly.
Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2004 The majority of the stuff I listen to, as compared to what many of TSM listens to, would be a guilty pleasure. I like a lot of poppy, Top 40ish stuff. I like everyone from Britney to Xtina to NYSYNC. I have every song they did on California Dreams. However, my biggest guilty pleasure right now would probably be "The Bounce/The Luv" off of From Justin To Kelly. For some reason, the movie didn't have a soundtrack, but someone ripped the song from the DVD. I found it, and play it like there's no tomorrow.

I don't really consider jpop something to feel guilty over - but like I said, I'm more of a hard rock / metal guy, so it looks kind of out of place in my collection. Oh, and don't feel bad about enjoying 80s music. Some of it's actually quite good. Its called a accent. Luda is southern. Or he's just too stupid to get the name right. Nothing kills that song quicker than when Ludacris start in. Shit, I'd rather have Lil' John.

(If so call me ) Not at all. I don't judge my music based on genre. I listen to everything except country. Favorite bands range from KISS to Stabbing Westward to Bush to Sweet Sensation to NSYNC. If it's got a good sound or a good beat, I'll give it a shot. Sorry to disappoint you Mole, lol.

Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2004 Could have been worded better, agreed. I should have just said country doesn't perk my interest. I've heard enough to warrant opinion, but I can't get into that stuff.

Missouri for sure, I know because of Cedric the Entertainer and Nelly. No, its definately southern. Just like "eating scrawberries", "going down the screet." "this way or the urther" People every where fuck up a word one way or another. There are just way more reasons to hate Ludacris besides him being southern and speaking the word like he is southern. Shit. Splash Water Falls is RIGHT THERE. And speaking of luda, my guitly pleasure is Southern Fried Intro/Blow it Out song. That shit is hot and I can't stand Luda. Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2004 No, its definately southern. Just like "eating scrawberries", "going down the screet." "this way or the urther". Man, I said it was parts of the south. All I'm saying is everybody in the midwest talks like that, and not everybody in the south does. Georgia has it's own accent, for example.
DCMaximo 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2004 Oh yeah, guilty pleasures. I've recently come to love Suede's debut album. Like, too much. The first Suede album is excellent and, as far as indie goes, is an impressive debut. Don't know if Suede are a guilty pleasure though, unless you're really embarrassed to like it. Now their last album, now THAT was an album to be embarrassed by.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2004 Lets see... Perfect Circle "The Outsider" . At first I was just enjoying the jiggle in the video, but then I noticed I liked the song. Petey Pablo Freeky Leek or what the hell ever it is called. But not the song. Mostly just the video. Oh and Nellys Tip Drill...only the video though. haVoc 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 Joss Stone. 16 year old white girl from Britian (I think) singing real R&B. This isn't the TRL bubble gum R&B Beyonce, Usher and Ashanti (sp?) does. She sings with a real band and has pure soul in her music.

DCMaximo 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 Just thought of more random tat I love- PM Dawn- Set Adrift On Memory Bliss Jimmy Ray- Are You Jimmy Ray? Steps- Last Thing On My Mind Michael Barrymore- Too Much For One Heart (mainly because it reminds me of the first night of Reading last year, when the combination of Tennant's Super and weed made me fall asleep, only to wake up to this song, thinking someone was soundchecking in the main field, even though it was 5.30 am)
