Guest Brian Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 But that means you're legalizing stuff just so people can profit off of, and you're not dealing with the criminal issue. It's like, it's okay, as long as us and our friend make money off it, but if you pull this shit and try to make a profit or get around us, we'll throw your ass in jail.
Slayer Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Barely. But only if you're Canadian. The summer of 2003 will no doubt go down as the most balls-to-the-wall summer in terms of the sheer amount of people I saw smoking weed in public places. My friend lit up a joint in direct view of a cop at SARS-Stock and nothing happened, apparently because the police were given special orders to ignore all people smoking up. I loves my country. Between the decriminalization of cannabis and the absence of zealot censors, Canada doesn't sound like that bad a place for me to live Now if you could only do something about the egregiously high income tax... ...and the atrocious health care system ...and the inability to elect 75% of your government ...and the fact that England still has a hand in your business ...and the Jr. Frenchies ...and the beavers on your currency ...on second thought, I'll stick around the US for awhile
Justice Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 They ask their kids. Parents: The Anti-drug. "Hate is my anti-drug."
NoCalMike Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 well timing is nice, because next week on Penn & Teller, they are gonna tackle the "War on Drugs"

Jobber of the Week Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 These czar titles need to go. Everytime I hear "White House Drug Czar", I picture someone dressed like a pimp dealing out the basement of the White House to various government and media employees.
EdwardKnoxII Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 So to those that live in Canada I have a question. Do they gave out drug tests at work like they do here in the states?
Lord of The Curry Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 I think (like in the US) it would depend on the job. My friend recently got a job with a hardware store and they did a piss test on him. But other then that I haven't heard of anything major. Angelslayer- Our atrocious health care system? This is an American calling Canada's health care system atrocious? Yeah right.

This is an American calling Canada's health care system atrocious? Yeah right. I'll say it. You don't see Americans going to see Canadian specialists. -=Mike ...You don't see American hospitals basically shutting down because they ran out of funds
Highland Posted April 18, 2004 Report Posted April 18, 2004 You don't see a quarter of Canadians without any sort of medical coverage either.
Justice Posted April 18, 2004 Report Posted April 18, 2004 You don't see a quarter of Canadians without any sort of medical coverage either. But you do see tons of Canadians going to America for surgery and other services. A neat "Did you know": Did you know that the University of Michigan has more MRI (I think that's the one) machines than all of Canada? Nice job, boys...
BX Posted April 18, 2004 Report Posted April 18, 2004 Stupid dick-waving. "Hey, we got more cat scan machines then you do, Canada! Eat it!"
Justice Posted April 18, 2004 Report Posted April 18, 2004 Stupid dick-waving. "Hey, we got more cat scan machines then you do, Canada! Eat it!" Oh fuck off. We have better equipment, better staff, and better facilities; that's just an example of how Canada's system is underequiped. Why do you think that they come here for surgery and other important medical procedures?
Guest MikeSC Posted April 18, 2004 Report Posted April 18, 2004 You don't see a quarter of Canadians without any sort of medical coverage either. Ironically enough, every American is entitled to medical treatment if they go to an emergency room. They cannot legally refuse service to anybody, regardless of inability to pay. Cool, huh? -=Mike
Kahran Ramsus Posted April 18, 2004 Report Posted April 18, 2004 Yeah, as someone who has had family spend alot of time in hospitals, and an aunt that worked in one for 35 years, I can assure that our healthcare system sucks donkeyballs right now. At least in Ontario. In terms of surgery anyways. We are better than the US when it comes to prescription medication and innoculations.
starvenger Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 ...and the fact that England still has a hand in your business Not exactly correct. As a constitutional monarchy, the Queen is considered the Head of State, but she has no real power. Her proxies, the Governor-General and Lieutenant-Governors, are appointed by the Canadian government. So, no real fingers in the pot.

Highland Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 Our Cabinet is appointed from elected representatives. The last time I checked, the US Cabinet was not.

The fact that you even have and recognize proxies for the government that once subjugated you says everything Yeah, it says that we like maintaining food relations with other countries. In all seriousness, having the Queen as Head of State is a topic of debate that comes up every so often, but to be honest, it's not a huge deal. It's not like we're tithing to England or anything.

That's because your gov't forces our pharmaceutical companies to sell their drugs at a loss up there. We have to make up the difference down here. -=Mike
Guest SideFXs Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 Has anyone considered that smoking marijuana exposes you to FOUR TIMES the level, of carcinogens, compared to smoking tobacco. Therefore, shouldn’t there be a negative stigma associated with smoking pot too? Well maybe so, when it falls out of favor as the drug of choice for this generation. I wonder if you can bring a law suite against your drug dealer, if you are dying of lung cancer? Maybe when pot becomes incorporated as, “Big Marijuana.”
The Metal Maniac Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 I don't believe there's ever been a case of cancer linked soley to pot use. I could be wrong, but I'm sure I've seen that in various places.
EricMM Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 No one smokes joints even a quarter of the amount that people smoke cigs. Ashcroft is also a very good source. That hypocritical son of a BITCH! He's been selling to Canadians this whole time! You don't see American hospitals closing down because they ran out of funds. Actually Mike, I do recall one DC area public hospital doing just that. I'm sure you could say "not many" but it has happened.
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 Alcohol and tobacco US Governments anti drug.
Guest MikeSC Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 No one smokes joints even a quarter of the amount that people smoke cigs. My ex did. The chick was a ridiculous pothead when she got her hands on "good stuff". Ashcroft is also a very good source. That hypocritical son of a BITCH! He's been selling to Canadians this whole time! Come on --- after a busy day of trampling on the First Amendment --- what would YOU do to unwind? You don't see American hospitals closing down because they ran out of funds. Actually Mike, I do recall one DC area public hospital doing just that. I'm sure you could say "not many" but it has happened. Really? I, honestly, never heard of that story. -=Mike
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 That four times the carcinogens is misleading, too. The manner in which pot is smoked has a lot to do with that. Unfiltered, and held in the lungs. Most people don't smoke that much weed to have it be comparable, but 19 times out of 20, a pot smoker smokes cigarettes too, so I guess it adds up. Still though, anyone who doesn't realize that smoke is harmful when inhaled is lost anyway.

Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 It's a pain in the ass being socially liberal and expecting people to have some common sense, I tell ya.

PERSONALLY, I say we put intentionally bad directions on products (i.e, "hair dryers are GREAT when used while taking a shower"). Would thin out some of the idiots, at the very least. -=Mike
