Nighthawk Posted February 6, 2005 Report Posted February 6, 2005 I only listened to half of VU&N. That second one is Seamonsters, but mine had a different cover than that. The review on allmusic for that Emma Bunton album says it's not only the best Spice solo album, but the best Spice related album period. That's very much a lie (the first two Spice albums may well be the best pure pop albums ever released), but it is rather good. I'm not sure it's better than Northern Star, but it's almost hard to believe albums like those can come from the same group as Vicky Beckham's atrocity. The pictures in the liner notes are awesome too. Emma looks amazing these days... she may overtake Dyke Spice as my favorite to look at.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted February 6, 2005 Author Report Posted February 6, 2005 My copy of Seamonsters has that cover, but I'm assuming you have the version with the bonus tracks.
Nighthawk Posted February 6, 2005 Report Posted February 6, 2005 I intentionally did not get that one when I ordered it, because I had heard the remastering made it sound worse, but I've just checked and the one with bonus tracks has (aside from yet another cover) 18 tracks, while mine has 13. I don't know what release this is... ah well, good enough anyway.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted February 6, 2005 Author Report Posted February 6, 2005 Mine just has the album proper. And, curiously, "Dalliance" is misspelled on the back cover.

5_moves_of_doom Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 (edited) The one without a band/title identifier is Joy Shapes, by Charalambides. By coincidence, this is EXACTLY what I've been listening to, minus the Low and plus Let Love In. Oddly, I'm hanging out with Ian McKaye, Blonde Redhead, and the drummer from Dismemberment Plan in a few weeks. ...Weird crowd. EDIT: And for the record, I'm dissapointed with the Futureheads. They're decent. ...I guess. Edited February 9, 2005 by 5_moves_of_doom
5_moves_of_doom Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 Starfucker. For the not liking the Futureheads part, or for the hanging out with Ian McKaye and you NOT hanging out with Ian McKaye part?
Giuseppe Zangara Posted February 9, 2005 Author Report Posted February 9, 2005 Do you know what starfucker means.
5_moves_of_doom Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 (edited) Do you know what starfucker means. "someone who thinks some brief nearly non-existent connection with some great legend practically makes them a great legend too." Apparently that's it... where I live I was always taught that it meant "assfucker," but... well, both are insults. So fuck you too, Inc. EDIT: I'm obviously not up to date with my Nine Inch Nails terminology. Edited February 9, 2005 by 5_moves_of_doom
Giuseppe Zangara Posted February 9, 2005 Author Report Posted February 9, 2005 Trent Reznor didn't coin the term.

5_moves_of_doom Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 Trent Reznor didn't coin the term. That's not the point. I'm not a starfucker. ...I just know Ian McKaye, and you don't. Loser.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted February 10, 2005 Author Report Posted February 10, 2005 I wouldn't be so bitter if I knew Ian Mackaye!
B. Brian Brunzell Posted February 11, 2005 Report Posted February 11, 2005 Too lazy to find the album pics, so I'll just type the albums instead: Disintegration- The Cure Stronger than Death- Black Label Society Burn My Eyes- Machine Head Vs.- Pearl Jam Sketches for My Sweetheart, the Drunk- Jeff Buckley 4th Dimensional Rocketships Going Up- Gift of Gab The Lonesome Crowded West- Modest Mouse
Giuseppe Zangara Posted February 11, 2005 Author Report Posted February 11, 2005 Echo and the Bunnymen - Ocean Rain Echo and the Bunnymen - Porcupine And some generous use of my iPod's shuffle feature.
Nighthawk Posted February 11, 2005 Report Posted February 11, 2005 That's the second time in a few days for The Head on the Door. I'm further surprised it's not universally heralded as the Cure's best album.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted February 11, 2005 Author Report Posted February 11, 2005 Oh, I just put on the Replacements' Let It Be.
