Guest MikeSC Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 SD writers have told Rey that have "no ideas" for him. OK, Rey --- only one of the most over guys you have and one of the most consistently good workers you have --- has a problem because creative has "nothing" for him? OK, WWE, seriously --- WHY AREN'T YOU CLEANING HOUSE IN THE CREATIVE DEPARTMENT, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! You pissed away a possible PPV match in Booker v RVD. You completely screwed things up by having Eddy v Show as a SD match and Eddy v Bradshaw as a PPV match. You "killed" Kurt Angle. Jesus, Vince --- we know you aren't fond of SD --- but don't KILL YOUR OWN BRAND. -=Mike

OK, Rey --- only one of the most over guys you have and one of the most consistently good workers you have --- has a problem because creative has "nothing" for him? Simple because Rey is a "little" guy and we all know how Vince feels about the cruiserweights.
Guest croweater Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Yet they hired this awesome cruiserweight wrestler from Japan with a missive cult following who has a history of great matches with Rey............
2GOLD Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Well, Rey doesn't fit into the WWE style. He's too quick and if he slows down, then he looks like a midget and really worthless. He's basically screwed. I'm shocked it took this long to start screwing him up royally.
Guest MikeSC Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Yet they hired this awesome cruiserweight wrestler from Japan with a missive cult following who has a history of great matches with Rey............ Did Ultimo and Rey work a single WWE match together? -=Mike
Guest Fook Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 I think they had a two minute match on SD a few months ago which was basically to further the Rey/Tajiri feud.
Guest croweater Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 they did. After reading the spoilers for it I decided not to watch it due to how much it would depress me to see such a match wasted in 3 minutes. WWE didn't even try anything with Ultimo. Ultimo vs. Tajiry and Ultimo vs. Rey were two matches that I was craving when ultimo entered.

OldSchoolWrestling Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Smackdown has...........~CANCER!~!~
Guest croweater Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 no no, Vince has injected "Poison" into Smackdown... cue porn music
JoeDirt Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Reading that over again...when was the last time creative thought of anything for Misterio to do anyways? It's not like his feud with Chavo leading into No Way Out was creative brilliance or anything. And I can't even think of anything before that. The WWE seldom comes up with any cruiserweight feuds/storylines/etc.
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 I don't really understand why people are so up in arms about this. Creative hasn't given Mysterio anything decent to work with in at least a year. His "feud" with Chavo was mediocre at best, but I got to read every week how the WWE loves the way the two work together. The WWE needs to quit blowing smoke up it's own ass and figure out what is important, building up feuds and bring good wrestling to the table. Not dumb fuckhead storylines like Big Show's attempted murder on Kurt Angle.......
Guest croweater Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 The last interesting thing that happened to Rey was his feud with Matt Hardy, and that was mainly due to V1's entertainment value.
Guest What_ever Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Rey is simply too small to be taken seriously. It would be better if he found work in one of the lower wrestling organizations.
CanadianChick Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 And before the Mattitude feud, which was very entertaining, we had that Big Show feud. Really though, I'm not asking for a great creative push for Rey. Just something to get him on TV. He's one of the main reasons to watch Smackdown.

TheBigSwigg Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 This is pure insanity. Vince takes a guy who's a HUGE superstar and a name everyone who has followed wrestling in the past 10 years will recognize, and tells him that they have nothing for him to do. Then he puts MARK FUCKING JINDRAK on tv playing Lex Luger's old gimmick. And here it was I thought they wanted people to watch Smackdown

Why is it that when the writer's can't think of anything to do with a wrestler, TIME AND TIME AGAIN, it's the wrestler who ends up getting buried and released while the writers keep their jobs? Agreed. It seems creative has problems giving A LOT of guys "something to do". At a certain point, you have to place the blame where it belongs. If it was one or two guys, I'd be forgiving. But we have Dinsmore having to play a tard to make it on TV, we have Rey gone because they have nothing, we have Haas buried because they have nothing, ditto Hurricane, ditto Storm, ditto Venis... -=Mike ...Heck, Russo is better than most of WWE's creative team presently --- and he sucks
Ultra Violence Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 If only Chris Kreski (sp?) would return....
Spaceman Spiff Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Rumors are the Dudz are turning heel, right? The only face team on the show is Rikishi/S2H, so the Dudz need a team to feud with. Kidman's doing nothing, Rey's doing nothing, Kidman w/ Rey makes Kidman more exciting. ::thinks:: ::thinks:: ::thinks:: I've got it! Um.....hold on.... ::thinks:: I guess they're right, I can't think of anything either.
KTID Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 here's me clicking on this topic expecting the rawmvp sequel
EdwardKnoxII Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 ...Heck, Russo is better than most of WWE's creative team presently --- and he sucks Yeah say what you will about Russo but, at least he thought of ideas for the midcarders that made them stand out. I say that if you have someone there to help filter out the crazier ideas Russo would be very good on the booking team. Just not as head writer.
Guest MikeSC Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 If only Chris Kreski (sp?) would return.... No joke. It's sad that you can actually pinpoint when he left. No way he'd write the ending to SSeries 2K that Steph wrote. Yeah say what you will about Russo but, at least he thought of ideas for the midcarders that made them stand out. I say that if you have someone there to help filter out the crazier ideas Russo would be very good on the booking team. Just not as head writer. Sorry, but I remember, too well, the stuff he did when he had some power and how absolutely mind-blowingly asinine WWF booking was in 1999 (noticeable when you watched WWF in 2000 and saw how a company is SUPPOSED to be booked) -=Mike

They also had problems coming up with things for total losers like Mideon. Creative is universally incompetent, not just incompetent with respect to good workers.
notJames Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Touching on what Spiffy said... Isn't it wrestling protocol to put wrestlers into teams when they have nothing else to do? It worked in the 80s with Akeem and Bossman, Martel and Santana, and to a lesser extent Hercules and Roma. So why not do it with Rey Rey and Kidman? And what better time than now, when there is a complete dearth of teams on SD!? Stupid humans.
Chazz Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 Nothing new here. Seriously, how many times have we heard this since Stephanie McMahon took over as Head of Creative? This Is what Vince gets for surrounding himself with a bunch of yes-men who can't think for themselves. And as far as Vince Russo goes, you can say whatever you want about him, but just take a look at the numbers he helped to produce when he and Ed Ferrera Co-Wrote WWF/E T.V. (I.E. T.V. Ratings,Live Attandance,PPV Buys, Overall Interest, Etc.), and compare and contrast them with the numbers of the past 2-3 years. Russo Haters tend to forget these things while bashing him.
