Backlash Predictions

Recommended Posts

That's it really. Post any predictions of results, star ratings, random happenings etc. for Backlash in this thread. Looks like a fairly solid PPV to me.

PREDICTIONS:

Triple Threat match for the World Heavyweight Championship

Chris Benoit vs. Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels

WINNER: Chris Benoit

Hopefully manages to live up to expectation after WM's exciting bout. Should be an extremely hot crowd for this one, heel heat for HBK perhaps? WWE seem to have built up quite the reputation for having hometown babyfaces lose recently, but I don't see Benoit losing the belt yet. Should be at least ***1/2.

No Holds Barred match for the Intercontinental Championship

Randy Orton vs. Mick Foley

WINNER: Randy Orton

Given the whole point of this feud (not that I don't think it's been a good one) has been to put Orton over, having him lose in the first one-on-one matchup between him and Foley would make little sense. Foley will almost certainly be in charge of this one despite playing face, so I expect the match to be well layed out at least. I'm expecting a pretty old-school style match around the **1/2 mark.

Women's Championship match

Victoria vs. Lita

WINNER: Lita

Lita is the more over face, so she'll probably win IMO. Other than that, I hope for little more than an arse-exposing outfit on Victoria in this match. 1/4* for the arse.

Handicap match

Chris Jericho vs. Christian & Trish

WINNER: Chris Jericho

I've thought the build-up for this has been excellent, and last month's WM match was also very good. Jericho should go over here to even the score (pinning Trish perhaps), and again in some blowoff match down the line, before moving up to the main event scene (and a title match vs. Benoit...purr-lease!). Keeping Trish's in-ring time to a minimum should keep this around the *** mark.

Edge vs. Kane

WINNER: Kane

Kane desperately needs a win. Edge is returning and could also really use one. That said, Edge has an injured hand and therefore more excuse to lose. Both guys need carrying to a good match so I don't expect much here. Maybe *1/2.

Shelton Benjamin vs. Ric Flair

WINNER: Ric Flair

Flair winning one-on-one accomplishes nothing, although I worry that WWE will want Batista on the card somewhere, and it'll most likely be here...cue Shelton/Batista feud. I mark for both guys, so I'll overrate this one. **1/2.

Tajiri vs. Coach

WINNER: Coach.

Huh? No Hardy, no Storm, no Hurricane etc. etc. but we get Coach. Great. Coach will win after interference from Tajiri's next feud-buddy, if he's getting one that is. DUD.

Well, I'm not going to attempt to guess how the matches will turn out in terms of quality. That's just too much speculation even for myself. Afterall, Kane & A-Train have had a three star match.

Tajiri Vs. The Coach

It could go either way really, because afterall this is WWE. The Coach could show up with someone and have them take out Tajiri giving the Coach the cheap win. Tajiri could just get a real match and decimate Coach. I assume that Tajiri will get the win because he just came over to Raw and they probably want to use him at least a little bit.

Shelton Benjamin Vs. Ric Flair

Well, I suppose that Flair could win due to interference from Batista leading to a feud with Big Dave. However, I'm more a believer that Benjamin will win and go on to feud with Orton over the IC title. So, I'm picking Shelton clean.

Edge Vs. Kane

Well, I don't know if Kane would be able to be salvaged if he lost again. He lost at Wrestlemania XX, and I wouldn't let him lose two in a row. Then again, this is Edge's return match, so I loss could hurt him too. What I think will happen is that Edge will get DQ'ed & suspended after using the cast. Thus, Kane wins, Edge can still put a beating on Kane and then take a little more time off from in-ring to let his shit heal. Maybe Edge will even get revenge on Johnny Nitro? I'm going with Kane by DQ.

Chris Jericho Vs. Christian & Trish Stratus

I could see this one going either way as well. Either Christian could tag in Trish and Jericho kicks out, or Christian could tag in Trish and she gets the pin. I think the heels will actually win this...after having to cheat of course. Jericho will get some revenge on Trish, possibly a Walls of Jericho, but will still lose so as to get more sympathy babyface heat. So, I'll say that Christian hits Jericho with the Unprettier, tags in Trish who goes for the pin. Then Jericho kicks out and Trish is shocked. She runs to make the tag back to Christian but is cut off by Jericho. Jericho then does some shit to Trish and she'll low blow him or something. Maybe a ref bump and a chair shot...I don't know. I think the heels will win though.

Victoria Vs. Lita

It pains me to say it, but I think that Lita is going to win the title as well. Does she deserve it? Fuck no, she's terrible. A string of bad matches in a row doesn't warrant a title shot, much less a title win. However, Lita has been on tv recently and Victoria hasn't. So, Lita seems to be the face that will feud with evil Trish. Too bad.

Randy Orton Vs. Mick Foley

A win for Foley does nothing, and it would be stupid as shit to give him the IC title. I'm going with Orton, although he will bleed before the match is over.

Chris Benoit Vs. Shawn Michaels Vs. Triple H

I'm going with Triple H. I'll never bet against him. Maybe WWE will uberswerve everyone and Bret Hart will come out and cost Benoit the title. Boy, that sure would piss some peopel off. HAHA.

Triple Threat match for the World Heavyweight Championship

Chris Benoit vs. Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels

WINNER: Chris Benoit

This should be a good match, although it'll be hard to top the WM XX one. Benoit is the logical winner here, 'cause it's him hometown and all. I wouldn't be shocked if they did Shawn winning with the sharpshooter on Benoit though, just to be a bunch of dicks.

No Holds Barred match for the Intercontinental Championship

Randy Orton vs. Mick Foley

WINNER: Randy Orton

I'm very, very interested to see what they will do. What risks will Orton take in his first risky match? Will he play it safe and let Foley take all the risks? Doubt it, and I think that this match will actually be pretty good.

Women's Championship match

Victoria vs. Lita

WINNER: Victoria

Oh dear god, if Lita wins here, pray for the Women's division. Personally, I wouldn't put the belt on Miss Sloppy. Why put the belt on someone who could injure herself or others very easily?

Handicap match

Chris Jericho vs. Christian & Trish

WINNER: Chris Jericho

I dont know what, but I know something bigs gonna happen. Be prepared for a huge SWERVE~! in this match.

Edge vs. Kane

WINNER: Edge

Edge is getting pushed. Kane-not so much. Therefore Edge wins. Go Edge~!

Shelton Benjamin vs. Ric Flair

WINNER: Benjamin

When does Flair ever win one-on-one?

Tajiri vs. Coach

WINNER: Coach.

Someone will interfere-probably Tajiri's next feud. But who? Who cares?

Triple Threat Match

I pick Benoit winning, again, especially since its his hometown, and isn't it Chris Benoit Day? I don't think WWE's dumb enough to put the title back on HHH. It'll probably be good, but definitely not as good as WM.

Prediction: Benoit

Orton vs. Foley

You'd figure Foley wins after being beat at Wrestlemania, but Orton has got to win here, again. If the IC title wasn't on the line, I'd go with Foley. Personally, I would've had Rock & Foley go over at WM, and just have Orton win here. I like the feud enough, so I figure they can pull out a good brawl.

Prediction: Orton

Flair vs. Benjamin

Benjamin's on a roll, and there's no reason Flair should go over. I'm really looking forward to this one and think it can be good.

Prediction: Benjamin

Tajiri vs. Coach

I guess I'd pick Tajiri, if only because he's the wrestler, but WWE logic is weird. Definitely only a "comedy" match.

Prediction: Tajiri

Kane vs. Edge

It's Edge's return, and he needs the win to solidify him as a main eventer. He'll probably end up using the CAST of all things to win, too. I'm not expecting anything really good.

Prediction: Edge

Jericho vs. Trishtian

Jericho wins by giving Trish the Walls. I'm half expecting Trish to dump Christian or vice-versa. Not as good as WM, though.

Prediction: Jericho

Triple Threat Match

World Title Match

Triple H Vs HBK Vs Chris Benoit

-I strongly expect another good 25-30 minute match here, crowd heat should be off the hook. I have a feeling that Benoit will play Morton here to Trips...I have sneaking suspicion that Shawn does an Injury spot. So about 10 minutes of Benoit playing morton to the hometown crowd should add to it.

The Finish: I have no doubt that Shawn's doing the Job this time around, Trips won't tap twice. Here's the Finish folks...Shawn SCM HHH through the ropes and Benoit counters a SCM attempt and spins him and hits a German to a HUGE ovation. Shawn staggers around and falls into a Crossface attempt...Shawn falls to his left knee but won't go down completely as Benoit tries to force him down. Shawn fights up...Benoit fights back and picks shawn up and hits a modified Spinebuster...He goes to the Top...Trips tries to stop him but Benoit kicks Trips off the apron who goes flying to the table. Benoit hits the Swan Head BUTT but shawn kicks out. Shawn goes for another SCM shot but Benoit catches it again and whips him into the ropes and hits a Belly 2 Belly suplex and collaspes on Shawn...He slides down shawn picking up on of his legs in the process...The crowd picks up on it and starts Buzzing...Benoit follows the path and takes the other leg and shawn struggles to avoid the Shooter...Trips returns to stop the match...Benoit clocks him...Shawn tries to crawl away but Benoit Yanks him back to the center and swiftly locks on the Shooter...Shawn taps. Benoit Wins.

***3/4

I.C Title

Falls Count Anywhere

Mick Foley Vs Randy Orton

This should be very interesting. This is the FINAL act as far as the Randy Orton Monster Push is concerned. The last 8 months have led to this very match. Foley has dumped 80 pounds for this angle. That shows he has something big planned. He will without question go all out for this match. He seems very motivated here and Orton should be able to follow Foley's Lead. Likely to be GORY and Colorful. I expect all out brawl ala Sullivan/Benoit GAB 95.

Orton will go over without question, that has been the whole purpose of this angle...to get Orton Over.

***.

Jericho Vs Christian and Trish

Keep Trish out of the ring and it should be another enjoyable showcase from these two. I'm thinking Tristian finds a way to go over but Jericho WILL get revenge on Trish on way or another after the match, likely in a post-match Walls on Trish.

**3/4

Shelton Benjamin Vs Ric Flair

I'm expecting Flair to bump like crazy for Benjamin and thats usually good for a hearty crowd reaction and should be a fairly entertaining match that will bring out Shelton's Charisma and he'll go over. Flair doesn't need it and he'll never lose heat.

**1/2

Woman's Title

Victoria Vs Lita

The absence of Victoria and focus on Lita, leads me to believe that Lita will win the title, likely starting up a title fued between her ex-best friend, Trish Stratus.

*1/2 (if Vicky brings her working boots)

Edge Vs Kane

A Booked yourself in the corner match if there ever was one, either men can afford to lose here. Sets up for the disapointing DQ finish...Likely involving Johnny Nitro.

**

Tajiri Vs Coach.

In what SHOULD only be a Bobby Heenan/Rooster style Match, Tajiri will go over but gets attacked by someone new...

Other Notes

*Bret Hart...WILL not be there. At least not ON-SCREEN.

*Eugene will have a total of 4 "funny" skits...

Guest The Winter Of My Discontent

The Coach/Tajiri match should not be unlike Tajiri/Corino from a few years back. The one where he absolutely massacred Corino - splashed blood on the camera after the tree of woe - and got over as this savage animal.

World Heavyweight Championship: Chris Benoit © vs Triple H vs Shawn Michaels.

If Benoit loses the belt, I will be very upset. Honestly, I can see this one going either way. This is a good thing because I like things to be unpredictable, but a bad thing because the very thought of Triple H as champion again makes me sick to my stomach.

Predicted Winner: Chris Benoit

Desired Winner: Chris Benoit

Hardcore Match for IC Title: Randy Orton © vs Mick Foley

This match will be fun if Foley gets to destroy Orton for a bit and make him bleed. If Orton can pick up the win here and get some major over points, all the power to him. This has been a very well built up feud and I must give Foley credit for being the genius that he is.

Predicted Winner: Randy Orton

Desired Winner: Randy Orton

Trish Stratus and Christian vs Chris Jericho

Dammit, I want Jericho to win a match over Christian! That's all I want! Is this too difficult?!? Since Jericho lost at WM, I would normally predict him to win this time, but since this is Jericho, the guy who WWE just loves to bury whenever possible, I'm going predict a Tristian victory in Edmonton.

Predicted Winner: Christian and Trish

Desired Winner: Chris Jericho

Grudge Match: Tajiri vs The Coach

I bet Matt Hardy, Lance Storm, Tommy Dreamer, and The Hurricane are all very happy to see this match make the card. Okay, no more commentary from me. I see someone interfering on the Coach's behalf and helping him beat Tajiri. If not, then Tajiri just gets to beat up the Coach, which is always a crowd-pleaser.

Predicted Winner: The Coach

Desired Winner: Tajiri

Shelton Benjamin vs Ric Flair

Flair has been very good about putting over younger guys (assuming they aren't named Jericho) and Benjamin has been getting a very good push lately. I can't imagine WWE letting Benjamin going over Triple H and NOT Flair as well, so the wonderkid push continues.

Predicted Winner: Shelton Benjamin

Desired Winner: Shelton Benjamin

Women's Championship: Victoria © vs Lita

Oh my... face vs face? Shucks. Ah well, I don't think this will be as bad as everyone at The Smart Marks seems to think it will be. It won't be great, but oh well. I don't think Lita will ever be the Womens Champion again, especially since it has been publicly known that WWE considers her to be a step below the other women. Victoria gets a nice victory here.

Predicted Winner: Victoria

Desired Winner: Victoria

Edge vs Kane

This match was made just because Edge attacked Eric Bischoff. And we all know that whenever someone makes Uncle Eric upset, he puts them in a match with Kane. So that's why we have this one. I can't see Edge winning this time, due to his arm injury. I predict he will use the cast as a weapon, thus getting himself DQed and suspended until he can come back for real!

Predicted Winner: Kane

Desired Winner: Kane

Only seven matches so far, so I assume another one or two will be added on Heat. Raw did not do a very good job of getting deserving talent onto this pay-per-view. What's Rhyno doing? Lance Storm? Matt Hardy? The Hurricane and S.H.I.T.? Hell, what are Chuck Palumbo, A-Train, and Garrison Cade doing? Steven Richards? AAARRRGGHHHH! This is so very frustrating!

Chris Benoit vs. Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels

Who I want to win: Benoit

Who will win: Benoit

- Having Benoit lose would be downright moronic (edit: I'm sure there's some irony in spelling moronic wrong somewhere :)), he's just starting off on a nice championship run and I've got just enough faith in the WWE that they won't cut his legs off. After he wins he can fued with Shawn for a while so I'll predict Benoit pins HHH... sorry I was just off in some fantasy land for a second there :)

Randy Orton vs. Mick Foley

Who I want to win: Foley

Who will win: Orton

-If the weren't for the IC title I'd be pondering a bit more about this but as it is Orton goes over after taking an absolute shitkicking of the highest order.

Victoria vs. Lita

Who I want to win: Victoria

Who will win: Lita

- Litas been on TV, Victoria hasn't. End of story.

Handicap match

Chris Jericho vs. Christian & Trish

Who I want to win: Jericho

Who will win: Jericho

- Jerichos gonna win this one but he'll pin Trish to keep Christian strong.

Edge vs. Kane

Who I want to win: Edge

Who will win: Edge by DQ

-I'm gonna agree with Choken One, both guys can't afford a loss here and thats what DQ finishes were invented for.

Shelton Benjamin vs. Ric Flair

Who I want to win: Benjamin

Who will win - Benjamin

- Benjamins started getting a huge push so I don't think Flairs gonna be winning this one unless Batista interferes but hopefully better sense shall prevail.

Tajiri vs. Coach

Who I want to win: Tajiri

Who will win: Tajiri

- Tajiri wins but ends up being attacked afterwards, hopefully by someone who can actually wrestle.

Benoit vs. HBK vs. HHH - Big Gold Belt

Benoit pins HBK in another exciting, 30-minute struggle. Chris needs to keep the belt another couple months... since he hasn't done a thing with it. Then, I guess this will lead to HBK and HHH feuding some more, for no apparent reason... and Benoit will be the fighting champion, beating a bunch of scrubs... until HHH wins the belt back at whatever the June PPV is called. I don't care if WM was a classic, I hate rematches like this. I feel very ripped off. ***1/4

Who I want to win: HHH

Who will win: Benoit

Randy Orton vs. Mick Foley - IC Title

I don't want to watch this match. I have a crush on Randy, and he's going to be bloodied, and killed. I guess you violent freaks will enjoy it though. Either way, Mick will dominate for most of the match, but Randy will "outsmart" Foley, win in the end... as Mick's only doing this to put My Sexy Beast, Randy over. ***

Who I want to win: Orton

Who will win: Orton

Victoria vs. Lita - Women's Title

Meh. Why the fuck hasn't Victoria been on TV lately? She's hot, the guys like her. She has a good character, and the girls like her. Lita is just so awful now. And she's going to win. 1/2*, because Lita sucks.

Who I want to win: Victoria

Who will win: Lita

Chris Jericho vs. Christian & Trish

I think Jericho will finally get his revenge on Trish... he'll put her in the Walls, and then probably do some other lame, embarassing stuff. I hate Jericho, and his dumbass mic work as a face. **1/2

Who I want to win: Christian

Who will win: Chris Jericho

Edge vs. Kane

Kane dominates the beginning. Edge comes back. Then something stupid happens with Johnny Nitro... leading to a DQ. Horrible booking here. DQ finishes on PPV's are totally inexcusable. *

Who I want to win: Edge

Who will win: Kane, via DQ.

Shelton Benjamin vs. Ric Flair

Flair never wins nowadays... and we need to keep getting Shelton over. I'm hoping this ends up being a good match. ***

Who I want to win: Benjamin

Who will win: Benjamin

Tajiri vs. Coach

I think this is just to set up some new wrestler coming in... If not, then this will be really bad comedy. Either way, I don't care. -****

Who I want to win: Tajiri, I guess.

Who will win: Nobody.

The Bullshit Encounter Match

Remember One Night Only? How Davey Smith walked in the champion in front of his fellow countrymen? How the whole PPV was built around him? And he was the face and almost everybody wanted him to win? And we all know how that ended. Expect a similar fuck over Sunday night. :)

Predicted Winner: HHH (or HBK if they really want to rub it in the faces of the Canadian fans)

Desired Winner: Benoit of course

Victoria / Lita

Please let Victoria go over. Please.

IC Title Match with Hardcore Rules

Foley gets his fat ass retired...again.

Benjamin / Flair

Let's go Shelton! Expecting the obvious run-in from Batista since he has no match.

Handicapped Match

Jericho will make both those bitches tap.

Edge / Kane

Two weeks ago, I was gonna tell you Kane is so jobbing. Then Edge had to go and break his hand (anybody know the real reason?) and with what Johnny said last week, yeah Kane wins by DQ when Edge gets caught using the cast and "getting suspended" so he can go heal up at home again.

Tajiri / Coach

Lets just save the trouble and make this the Heat match alright?

Benoit vs. HHH vs. HBK: Benoit wins it with a sharpshooter reversal on Michaels.

Orton vs. Foley: Orton with the RKO after Mick takes a bunch of bumps and Orton takes 1-2.

Edge vs. Kane: Kane wins by DQ after Edge uses the cast. Set up a rematch between the two.

Jericho vs. Trish/X: I think they set up the finish of this match on RAW. Christian said he'll beat up Jericho, which he will. Trish will get tagged in for the pin, Jericho kicks out, and then he finishes her off for the win.

Victoria vs. Lita: Victoria I guess. Don't really know or care that much.

Shelton vs. Flair: I think this will be the first match and that Benjamin wins it.

Tajiri vs. Coach: Comedy match I guess. Tajiri wins, gets beat up by somebody who Coach can manage or something. Who knows.

This is a 2 match show for me. I watch all WWE ppv's at my local sports bar with posters NoCalMike, Ced, and a few non-poster friends. Most of my attention will be focused on whatever NBA playoff game happens to be on while the ppv is going. I refuse to buy another WWE ppv until their has been some serious reform creatively. Anyhoo, I won't comment on snowflake ratings since no one can be sure if great wrestlers will stink it up or if bad wrestlers may step up, but I'll tell you who should win at least.

Benoit vs HBK vs HHH: Benoit is the only person who should go over here. There really is no other logical choice. HHH is off for the next 2 months to film a movie and last I heard, HBK was still winging it with a torn ACL. I'm just waiting for him to eventually be relegated to the IL. The scary part is when Benoit is done with this program. Who is he going to feud with? There are no credible heel challengers lined up.

Orton vs Foley: Unfortunately, Orton is going over here and we all know it. The problem for me with the 2 matches I even give a shit about is that we all know who is going over in them. I'd like to think a bloody and brutal brawl around the arena will do it, but who knows. I don't think Foley can make people anymore. In the end, Orton beat up an author who hasn't wrestled in 4 years. How are marks supposed to buy into this? As RRR stated in a different thread, this has been one of the better storylines since forever, but that's probrably because Foley's fingerprints are on this and not Gewirtz's.

Edge vs Kane: Who cares? I am waiting to see which one ends up getting injured due to carelessness. My money is on Edge.

Jericho vs Xtian and Trish: It'll pop the Edmonton crowd, but I don't give a shit. Wow, Jericho gets his revenge. Big fucking shit. I've seen Jericho and Xtian a bunch and while it's not offensive, I don't see anything innovative being done here either. This storyline started off good, but then turned non-sensical when Trish turned. Trish's explanation of why she turned was about as good as Angle explanation of why he turned on Guerrero. Fuck WWE Creative.

Victoria vs Lita: Again, I could give 2 shits. It's WWE Women's wrestling. When WWE finally takes them seriously, perhaps I will. Until then, I will take the time during this match to either A) take a shit or piss, B) buy more beer, or C) hit on some waitresses. Either way, I don't think anyone's day will be ruined or made no matter who wins.

Shelton vs Flair: Shelton should win. Bottom Line. End of Story. I have no desire to see Flair skyrocket himself towards a wheel chair by working his shriveled up 58-year old ass into oblivion. Ole Anderson was wrong in that Flair worked the same kind of match in the 70's and 80's, but he sure as hell is working the same match for the last year or so. Same old spots. Same chop, chop, chop, figure four formula. Flair doesn't even bother to work the leg anymore to lead into the figure four. Fuck him.

Tajiri vs Coach: Lame. This will rank up there with the Redneck games from last year's Bad Blood ppv in terms of entertainment. This does not belong on the show.

If Eugene happens to get killed like Kurt Angle did last thursday on SD, that would make the ppv a bit better. The character of Eugene needs to die, now. Fuck Dinsmore for creating such an intelligence insulting character. It's characters like Eugene that make me ashamed when I have to defend them to non-fans.

Again, this is a 2 match card and I already know who is going over in the 2 matches I even give a shit about. Yay for me.

This is a very strong PPV, especially considering it is a single brand show. Judgement Day has a lot to live up to with this lineup.

I think one thing I'm really curious about is how they handle the ring introductions. Like for Benoit, are they REALLY going to say "from Atlanta, Georgia"? I wouldn't be suprised if for one night they actually announce the Canadian home towns, because doing otherwise with the crowd would just look stupid.

I'm excited about the show, and I'll throw in my quick predictions:

First of all since there's only 7 matches, I predict one more to be added. I'm thinking Eugene makes his debut against Rob Conway (since they have the issue from RAW) and the match will be set up on HeAt. If this happens, Eugene will win. I'm just pulling this out of my ass, but it's a hunch.

Ok, card official:

Chris Jericho vs. Christian/Trish:

I'm thinking this is the opener, because really none of the 7 matches are really opener material, but I can see them putting this on first to get a hot match and a big Canadian pop. Jericho lost at Mania, I don't see why he wouldn't get his win back here.

Winner: Jericho

Star Prediction: ***1/4

Lita vs. Victoria:

Get this one out of the way early. I'll be shocked if they go more than 5 minutes or if there are less than 3 blown spots. Lita is just not good out there and Victoria's not the one to carry her. I don't see the point of this match either.

Winner: Victoria

Star Prediction: 1/4*

Shelton Benjamin vs. Ric Flair:

This one might be a sleeper hit. Flair has been on lately and Shelton will be fired up for his first singles PPV match. Shelton will go over strong here, there's no point in doing otherwise.

Winner: Shelton Banjamin

Star Prediction: ***

Kane vs. Edge:

I don't see much out of this one, especially with Edge's broken hand, but he'll get a nice return pop. I don't see them putting either over, especially since the cast stipulation gives them an out. I have a feeling Johnny Nitro will be named the special referee to give the DQ and take the post match beating.

Winner: Kane by DQ

Star Prediction: **

Mick Foley vs. Randy Orton:

I have no idea what to expect in this one, but I have a feeling it will be fun and much different than everything else on the show. I think Orton has his first big blade job here. I think with all the references to the Japanese death matches, Foley pulls out something he hasn't used in WWE like a bed of nails or tack boards or something crazy. I never doubt Foley in a big match, and Orton will get the rub from the win.

Winner: Randy Orton

Star Prediction: ****

Tajiri vs. Coach:

Buffer match between the streetfight and the main event. Coach will talk some smack, Tajiri will do his comedy spots and win. I don't know why they would put an announcer over.

Winner: Tajiri

Star Prediction: DUD

HHH vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Benoit:

If you thought the crowd was behind Benoit in New York...the crowd is going to be so amazing for this, I can't wait. They went all out and delivered a hell of a main event at Mania that might have been 5 stars. They'll be out to top it this time. All 3 work very well with each other, and Im expecting nothing less than another excellent match with tremendous atmosphere. Oh, and as for the result, come on...they can't be that stupid...can they?

Winner: Chris Benoit (over Michaels since HHH rightfully won't job twice).

Star Prediction: ****1/2

So those are my not too detailed thoughts and predictions. This has the potential to be a very good show, and on paper 4 matches look like they can be excellent. With the leaner card, this might produce the same rate of good matches that Mania did but with less filler. I'm looking forward to it!

Why do people think that Seven matches is a SMALL # of matches? If you ask me...7 matches with a purpose is better then 8-10 matches with a handful of meaning.

WCW did that in the dying days...3 matches would be built and 7 would just be tossed into the ppv for no reason.

Triple Threat match for the World Heavyweight Championship

Triple Threat match for the World Heavyweight Championship

Chris Benoit vs. Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels

WINNER: Trips. Could Benoit have been more like a transitional champion?

No Holds Barred match for the Intercontinental Championship

Randy Orton vs. Mick Foley

WINNER: Randy Orton. I'm actually looking forward to this match, and hope it gives Orton a chance to show something to his doubters for once.

Women's Championship match

Victoria vs. Lita

WINNER: Vicky.

Handicap match

Chris Jericho vs. Christian & Trish

WINNER: Chris Jericho, after a Trish face turn and 'it was a set-up all along' ploy.

Edge vs. Kane

WINNER: Kane by cheap DQ

Shelton Benjamin vs. Ric Flair

WINNER: Benjamin. It should give him a bit of a rub, and I expect Flair to pull out a decent performance to make Shelton look good.

Tajiri vs. Coach

WINNER: Coach. I can see a run-in by that Kenzo guy. After all, all Japanese wrestlers must either be allies or enemies with a Japanese wrestler by wrestling law.

Why do people think that Seven matches is a SMALL # of matches? If you ask me...7 matches with a purpose is better then 8-10 matches with a handful of meaning.

WCW did that in the dying days...3 matches would be built and 7 would just be tossed into the ppv for no reason.

7 matches is a small number of matches for a PPV, especially when most of them will go 7-10 minutes. Bad Blood ended at 10:30 EST and it had 7 matches. It's a matter of getting your moneys worth. More matches = longer show.

Depends on the matches. Wrestlemania 6 had about fourteen matches, but most were under 6 minutes.

Less matches usually = longer matches, which is a good thing.

Not when 2 of your matches are Tajiri/Coach and Lita/Victoria.
