Why Cant Eminem get a number 1 in the UK

Recommended Posts

Its strange, that everytime Eminem/D12 releases a single in the UK, they seem to have the worst timing ever, they have always released it when a strong selling single is also out, thats now seven consectutive number 2. placings that Em/D12 have ever got, whereas 50 Cent went straight to number 1, will he ever have a number 1 in the singles chart?

The only one in the group that was semi-attractive was Posh, and their songs were all the same, formulaic bullshit. Tell me how they were "fabulous".

W-ell, they as a group each had a member which would appeal to a different demographic than the other, so as far as being attractive, they had crossover appeal. Like you apparently favor Posh, I'm more into the Sporty type of women, though I liked her much more after they split up (actually I don't know if they officially did... after they fell from the spotlight, let's say).

As far as their musical offerings, formulaic bullshit is a somewhat innapropriate summation. Pure pop I find is a genre largely impossible to appreciate without being a fan. You may acknowledge talent, or like a particular song here and there, but usually apologetically. I also doubt you listened to the full albums. But that's fine, taste is taste. As a pop fan, I like what they did (formulaic is not necesarily a bad thing, but that's a whole other discussion). Pop, like jazz (only in this way, don't take offense to the comparison) is really quite different from other types of music, with it's own set of rules and standards. It must be approached from a completely different angle than anything else. You not being a fan, you wouldn't see it the same way.

I challenge you to defend Spice World, then.

I assume you mean the movie. Their second album was called that as well, but without the space.

Nothing wrong with a goofy farce, really. It was no worse than Help! Their bodies were on display if you were interested in that. Plus it had some interesting cameos, and if you do like their music, there's plenty of performance in it. It goes down easy if you like the Spices, ridiculous movies, or pop culture time capsules. If none of those apply, I don't know why you would watch it anyway.

Guest Nanks

Why in God's name would anyone ever actually analyze or pick at plot holes in Spice World??? Of all things??? Good god.... At any point in time has anybody in the entire world ever claimed that movie to be anything but harmless fun, designed primarily to appease what was at the time RABID Spice Girls mania?? Not every movie needs a film critic.

'cause the British have taste?

Because they have the Streets instead.

True that. The new Streets album is absolute class.

Yes yes, oh yay.

Stan was number one, but Bob The Builder knocked it off to become the Christmas number one. Stan managed a week at the top

Type in Eminem as your artist.

Or if you can't be bothered:

2. Eminem - My Name Is Apr 1999

5. Eminem featuring Dr Dre - Guilty Conscience Aug 1999

7. Dr Dre featuring Eminem - Forgot About Dre Jun 2000

1. Eminem - The Real Slim Shady Jul 2000

8. Eminem - The Way I Am Oct 2000

1. Eminem - Stan Dec 2000

1. Eminem - Without Me Jun 2002

4. Eminem - Cleanin' Out My Closet Sep 2002

1. Eminem - Lose Yourself Dec 2002

6. Eminem - Sing For The Moment Mar 2003

6. Eminem - Business Jul 2003

So there you go, four UK #1s. God knows what the hell you are going on about.

And while I hated the Spice Girls when they first came along, they've since become an almost guilty pleasure of mine. Wannabe is just a great bubblegum pop tune, and I always liked Viva Forever.

Am I the only Brit who despises The Streets.

I'm not British but I don't care for them. Of course, I've only heard that "Push Things Forward" song which was absolutely terrible, so perhaps my opinion is uninformed.

They're just another thing that makes me not care about British music baring the extreme underground.
