Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Report post Posted April 27, 2004 A message to the WWE: Batista is the most fun guy to watch on the RAW roster right now. Great look, smart in ring work, great chemistry with Benoit, great promos, push this man (gasp) give him a non title win over Benoit to rebuild him a little bit. Don't have him decimate Chris week in and week out, but make a bit more dominant.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted April 27, 2004 You forgot to mention how good the guy is on the stick. That backstage promo with Flair was excellent on just about any level much less for a guy so young in the industry. The whole being 'screwed up by not being tag team champion' part of the talk was great and it should be something they steal for Triple H if things keep going the way they are with his losing streak. Dave is seemingly taking the Randy Orton path of wrestling where he works on everything else other than offense as he develops. Both guys bump extremely well, have a good sense of timing, and are starting to get their spacing down really well. Batista is still a little awkward at times, but he's well on his way to be a major player. If those veins in his chest don't burst first... EWWWW.

Guest What_ever Report post Posted April 27, 2004 Batista is a fine power wrestler also. That usually means everyone here hates him. ~I's be yo' mamma.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted April 27, 2004 Damn... now I'm going to edit and delete stuff... Or I'll just look foolish. Yeah, that will do fine.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 He is definately showing improvement in the ring confirmible improvement so thats good.. I always said he looked 3 times more Monsterous than Brock did on his debut.
Guest What_ever Report post Posted April 27, 2004 Plus, Dave is hotter than Brock. I'd do him. ~I's be yo' mamma.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 Give me Batista over Orton any day of the week (better on the mic, better "look", better dresser [pimp-tastic!]). Or, at least in tag matches. His singles stuff has been spotty, but he can definitely be "carried" by a better worker. I've been digging his stuff teaming w/ Flair.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 Dave would make a great heel monster world champion ala Brock Lesnar.
Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 While I like him in the Evolution group, and I can see why they do it, I'm not too into the Flair/Batista tag team. They've got a better reason than most people to be teaming (Flair mentoring him, and being in the same stable), but I don't see them as a "full fledged" tag team. I agree they should do more with BIG DAVE~! (credit to Figure 4 Weekly for that one), because he's slowly turning into Rhyno (big power guy with good presence that winds up on the losing end of most of his matches). King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 I declare this thread "Pro-Hoss". See, that's why the term hoss comes up in these smark/anti-smark debates all the time. This isn't a hoss debate. It's a BATISTA debate. This discussion isn't 'pro-hoss'. Nobody here is 'pro-hoss'. You can't be 'pro-hoss' without liking guys like Nathan Jones and P.N News. Same way you can't be 'anti-hoss' without hating Vader and Stan Hansen. It's not different to saying you're pro-cruiserweight, and then saying you hate Billy Kidman. Only it's cool to 'hate hosses'. Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Report post Posted April 27, 2004 I may get flamed for this... but if I was booking RAW and I *had* to drop benoit to a heel next week... it'd be Batista. He's THAT cool.
humongous2002 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 I'll pick Batista over Orton anytime, he's got the looks and the skills on the mic all he needs is more experience in the ring and he will be one of the greatest ever.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted April 27, 2004 BIG DAVE~! (credit to Figure 4 Weekly for that one) Bullshit. I've been calling him that since December. It was an inside joke amongst me and my friends, and I've even called him that several times while posting on various message forums. Those cocksuckers. Link please? From my Royal Rumble review: So, now the PPV itself starts out and the curtain jerker is the Raw Tag Title match. The Dudley Boyz Vs. Batista & Ric Flair. Sometime during this match, my friend Jeremy makes a joke about Ric Flair always calling Batista "Big Dave~!" despite the fact that no one else does anymore. Eventually, the conversation leads to us talking about Batista in a "gimmick infringement" gimmick. Of course, the selling point would be ripping off other wrestlers entrances, however a bad Godzilla type dubbing over the other wrestlers entrance would take place with Dave Batista himself doing the bad voice overs. For example, he would come out to The Big Show's music, except instead of "Weeeeeell! It's the Big Show!" It would be "Weeeelll, it's the Big *bad dubbing of a horrible Batista voice-over* DAVE." I don't know why we got so much humor out of this, maybe it was because we knew that this match wouldn't be anything special? Well, Batista looked extra sloppy tonight. Things just didn't click. It seemed like the wrestlers had to do everything in their power to not accidentally run into each other. Coach did a run-in to stop Flair from going through a table, which gave "Dave, Dave, This is a Dave..."(Test's theme) time to hit D-Von with a spinebuster through a table and score the win. Not much of a match. Not much in the length column either.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 I may get flamed for this... but if I was booking RAW and I *had* to drop benoit to a heel next week... it'd be Batista. He's THAT cool. Then it's a good fucking thing you're not booking RAW. Having said that, I like Batista. I'm not gonna let him drip down my chin like some, but I dig him. He gets swank height on his powerbomb, dresses like you want to and is way better on the mic then people give him credit for. The true test will be when Evolution disbands and whether or not he can make it on his own. And the whole "veiny chest" thing is kinda freakish.
Si82 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 I certainly think that Batista has improved recently. I mean, he seemed to have potiental when he first came in but it all seemed to go down the pan when he began to wrestle. However, he has improved and once again showed the potiental he did earlier. I just hope he manages to continue with it. Still he looks pimptastic in a suit and that's a bonus I suppose.
WhenDanSaysJump 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 He's the most pimptastic Guy With Exact Dimensions Of An Action Figure ever!
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted April 27, 2004 It's good to see him getting back to Leviathan levels of good. I'd easily give Orton's push to him. Batista just needs a unique finisher.
Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted April 27, 2004 A-Train's still signifigantly ahead of Batista though. It's a shame they haven't found anything for him to do on Raw yet.
justsoyouknow 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 I completely agree with the "needs a unique finisher" argument. Given his build and intensity, I'd love to see him pull out a Torture Rack Neckbreaker...that's always a mark-out move for me. The more you think of it, the Torture Rack Neckbreaker is basically a Reverse F-5, and if we're going to compare him to Brock...
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 For the finisher for Batista thing: If Victoria wasn't using it right now, I'd say he should use what is right now called The Widow's Peak. As it is now though...how about The Dominator? No one is currently using it.
Dandy 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 A move I've always thought would be good could be used by someone as powerful as Batista. Hook someone in an inverted fisherman suplex position (facing away from you instead of toward you, and do the fisherman suplex that way so they would land face first (their knee would take the impact but have the illusion of a powerful faceplant like the Pedigree). I never thought of it as a finisher, but Batista's size and strength would make it seem devestating.
The Kid 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 Think about these for Batista finishers... Torture-Rack Powerslam Overhead Belly-To-Belly (I always liked when Ken Shamrock did that) Running Powerslam
Guest Ace Report post Posted April 27, 2004 I've always enjoyed Batista in some perverse way, even back when he was botching his own finisher and nearly killing people on a weekly basis. He's definitely getting a lot better, and he's expressed his own desire to continue to improve. That promo last night was a big-time player promo, although as people have mentioned, he's always been a decent talker. If only they would have given him the Orton Push...or the Lesnar Push. However, if I do recall correctly, Batista didn't have much heat before teaming with Flair, and I'm not sure how well he'd be able to carry himself at this point on his own. Guess it's a good thing Natch is his partner. Yeah, and where is A-Train? I miss the big lug.
Guest Fook Report post Posted April 27, 2004 Batista has gotten much better recently, but I find that's mainly because he's in tags now. He comes in, hits a few big moves (spinebuster, clothesline, powerbomb), and tags out to Flair. It's a good formula because it doesn't expose the fact that he has a very generic big man moveset. He has yet to prove he can wrestle a good singles match with someone other than the best workers.
Guest Korgath Report post Posted April 28, 2004 FINALLY! Batista gets some love. Geez. I was beginning to worry about the state of the board. I've had this sig since forever and I'm finally vindicated.
Guest Ace Report post Posted April 28, 2004 Agreed, Korgath. I was tempted to start a thread like this after seeing Batista's pep talk to Flair last night, but I was afraid I'd be branded a troll for being a new poster who made his debut by praising a "hoss". I doubt Batista will ever be a paragon of workrate, but he's showing improvement and stated his desire to do so. Of all the OVW guys who have been called up, he's by far my favorite. TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 FINALLY! Batista gets some love. Geez. I was beginning to worry about the state of the board. I second that. I've always been a Batista mark, since I saw one of his Leviathan matches in OVW. I was pumped when he was Deacon Batista, and I was afraid he was going to waste in Evolution, but it looks as if he's coming out of it. He's menacing in the group promos, as I noticed while watching WMXX, and he's improving in almost every area. I actually think he's surpassing Orton as the "Young Stud" in Evolution as him being on camera gets my attention way better than Orton. Orton's heat (or lack thereof) comes from his mouth, Batista's comes naturally.
Cran Da Maniac 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 I seem to remember an interview with Batista where he basically said he knows he's not that good in the ring, but is trying to get better. I'd love to see a good power guy, and I think Batista has the talents (if he keeps developing) to become that.
