Will/should the Lakers revamp their roster?

I would agree.

As a Pacer fan, we obviously had more heated rivalries with the Bulls, but I have far more respect for them. They were simply that good...I do take pride, though, in the Pacers having their only full 7-game series during their second three-peat.

The Bulls were loved! I don't remember anyone really hating the Bulls like people hate the Lakers. I guess it's because LA is like the spoiled bratty kid that noone likes. All the celebs show up for LA games and the players and fans are all so cocky.

I wouldn't say the Bulls were loved as much as they were generally liked and there wasn't the anti-Yankee attitude of "Who's going to shut down the mercinary team this year?"

As for specific players, Jordan was loved, Pippen was liked, and Rodman was generally detested for being a publicity whore.

The Lakers are hated more because of Kobe's problems, the team's payroll, and the fact that the Lakers have gotten hugely overexposed in the past five years since it was the first time since Magic retired that they've been any good.

I see Steviekick reading, and am waiting for a Utah Jazz-related comment.

I don't know, I just don't like the Lakers because I never liked Shaq from back in the Bulls-Magic rivalry days, Kobe Bryant is just annoying, Karl Malone was never as cool as John Stockton, and unlike Stockton, left behind Salt Lake City after all those years just to try and get a championship. Gary Payton bugs me for some reason but I don't know why. Luke Walton is the son of Bill Walton--nuff said. And Phil Jackson screwed over Chicago by coming back out of retirement and then being a cocky asshole in his Lakers tenure.

I think it has to do with the fact that the city of Los Angeles is somewhat villified, since it's a large city with lots of money and celebrities, and basically the epicenter of all media.

Thus why so many people also hate the New York Yankees.

Oh, and I fucking hated the Bulls. I respected Jordan obviously, and Pippen, and I disliked Rodman. I gained respect for Jackson only after he took over the Lakers' job and was able to accomplish the same thing with a different type and somehow keep Shaq's enormous ego in check. Not to mention keeping 4 large ego's in check while at the same time help keep Kobe focused throughout the season.

I'm seeing this kind of attitude prevailing with the Lakers of the present, and that might be another reason.

We hate these teams because they win. When they win, OUR teams don't win, thus breeding resentment.

I don't hate the Lakers b/c they win. I hate them b/c they're cocky and think they can do no wrong and there fans are 10x worse. Most diehard Laker fans think the team is the almighty god team, no other team in the NBA can come close to standing up to them and if you think otherwsie then you're a retard. I'm serious....you should hear the idiots that call into the local radio show.

"Well I told you the Lakers were going to beat those talentless Spurs! I don't know why people even doubt the Lakers. They're lightyears ahead of ANY team in the NBA."

Umm.....hello....they weren't even the #1 team in the West dipshits.

personally Shaq has always been one of my favorites even though I'm a Bulls guy. He's like the Manny Ramirez of basketball. It's impossible not to like him. But Malone and Kobe have always been penises of the highest order, and Payton bitching all year despite being in the best possible situation turned me off on him.

obviously I will always worship Phil and possibly build him a statue.

Oh yes....I will not deny how good Jackson is. Or the actual talent of the team. You'd be a fool to deny it.

But I still don't like them, their attitude, and the attitude of the fans.

That makes me always a little torn with the Lakers. Although I hate LA like crazy, I still like Phil Jackson and would like to see him win a 10th Championship. I just don't like him winning it with LA.

It would be Phil's and Los Angeles' 10th championship. How nice that would be :)
