David Blazenwing 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 I don't think anyone else posted this yet, so I'm gonna get the honor of being the first person to post something relatively important! WOOT~! Ahem. Anyhow, I was surfing on the RAW site, looking up a bio, and one of these little bastards popped up underneath the picture. Sure enough, after looking, all 20 entrants in the battle royal this Monday have one, so I'm posting them all here. They go over a little history and accentuate the superstar's odds in the battle royal. BATISTA: Size and strength wins battle royals. A great example of this would be Andre the Giant. Andre's amazing battle royal record earned him the moniker "King of the Battle Royals." While not quite the size of Andre, Batista possesses an unmatched amount of strength. This level of strength may take Batista to the winner's circle and the Bad Blood main event. CHRIS JERICHO: Chris Jericho is a former World Champion. For him to gain this level of success again is not out of the question. In fact, his recent victory over Christian in a Steel Cage Match may be one of his most impressive in recent history. Now the only question is whether this momentum will carry him past 19 other RAW Superstars. Some say it will, while others question if it is enough. Either way, Jericho is definitely one of the favorites to walk away with the win. CHRISTIAN: The young Christian's career is on a rise of meteoric proportions. The only hiccup he has been faced with recently was a loss to Chris Jericho in a Steel Cage Match on Monday Night RAW. Other than that, his budding relationship with Trish Stratus and having the "problem solver" Tyson Tomko by his side has made Christian one of the top RAW Superstars. Is a Bad Blood main event in his future? EDGE: Upon arriving to WWE after a lengthy absence, Edge looked noticeably different. The normally svelte, yet muscular, Canadian had put on several pounds of muscle. Never before had Edge looked so big. This added size will undoubtedly help Edge in this match, where the bigger you are, the better chance of winning you have. However, just imagine for a moment if Edge actually does win. Can we be staring a Chris Benoit/Edge Bad Blood main event right in the eyes? This could get interesting. GARRISON CADE: Garrison Cade knows a thing or two about being the underdog. He has played this role ever since entering WWE. Come Monday night, he will be asked to play the underdog once again, as he steps into the ring with the likes of Triple H, Kane and Christian. Many think that the young Cade may not have enough matches under his belt to survive such a brutal bout. We'll see if this Cinderella tale has a storybook ending on Monday night. JOHNNY NITRO: While Johnny Nitro may be a great apprentice to Eric Bischoff, he may not have what it takes to outlast 19 of RAW's finest. There is no doubt that he will have an amazing career at some point in the future, but the future is not now for Nitro. Should he end up winning the battle royal, it would have to be considered one of the biggest upsets in recent WWE history. Also, some serious underhanded maneuvers would have to take place. Don't put it past him or his boss Eric Bischoff. An extra official may have to be stationed ringside just to keep an eye on Nitro. KANE: Kane's size and strength give him an obvious advantage going into the battle royal. However, the big man does have a target on chest, a target that has been put there as a result of personal reasons. For Matt Hardy, eliminating Kane is more about defending Lita than it is about actually winning the battle royal. When these types of emotions are involved, there is no telling what the outcome may be. If Kane is successful in fending off Hardy, then he should be one of the favorites to go all the way. MATT HARDY: Matt Hardy may be one of the toughest Superstars to handicap for the upcoming battle royal. The former European Champion had little luck upon signing with RAW several months ago. However, his in-ring success has been growing as of late. With Matt on a bit of a roll, does he have what it takes to outlast 19 other RAW Superstars? Unfortunately for Matt, outlasting 19 others will not be his only concern. Just as he and Lita have begun to put their lives back together, Kane has interfered. The Big Red Monster has made Lita the object of his affection. With Kane being one of the 20 men competing in this battle royal, Matt's focus may be divided between winning the match and destroying Kane. Can Matt separate business from personal? MAVEN: Maven's future looked bright. He found himself sharing the ring with legends like Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels. Then injury struck. Maven hasn't been seen by RAW audiences in a long time, but on Monday night, he will be making his long-awaited return to the ring. Will there be ring rust? Can he pick up where he left off? In most cases, you would think not. But with Maven, anything is possible. Can the first chapter of Maven's return conclude with a battle royal victory? If so, it would make for a great story. RANDY ORTON: Don't bet against Randy Orton. Not only has this third-generation Superstar climbed every mountain that he has been faced with, but he has done so in very impressive fashion. Couple that with three other members of Evolution participating in the match and we may be looking at an all Evolution final four. Who would win that one? Will it really be every man for himself? This could get interesting. RHYNO: Rhyno is no stranger to competing for a World Championship. In fact, the Detroit native was the last man to hold the ECW World Heavyweight Championship, before the company folded in early 2001. That said, a victory on Monday night may not be completely out of the question. While Rhyno has struggled a bit since returning from injury, his low center of gravity may help him in this match and get his World Heavyweight Championship aspirations back on course. RIC FLAIR: Normally, expecting a man of Ric Flair's age to win a battle royal would be out of the question. Ric Flair, however, is anything but normal. Unlike many other professional athletes, Flair seems to get better with age. The 16-time World Champion may not be in the top three to win this match, but if he does, don't be surprised. The only caveat would be whether the Nature Boy will sacrifice his chances of victory in an attempt to help fellow Evolution teammate Triple H in his quest to capture the World Heavyweight Championship. ROB CONWAY: Does anybody like Rob Conway? In a time where patriotism is almost a religion, the last thing this country needs is an American turncoat. But that is what Conway is. Chances are Conway will be the target of every American in the ring on Monday night, making him a tough Superstar to pick to win the whole thing. ROSEY: Chris Benoit vs. Rosey in the main event at Bad Blood with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line. It could happen. In fact, this may be Rosey's most serious shot at the World Heavyweight Championship to date. While a Benoit/Rosey main event seems tough to imagine, it may be even tougher to find a Superstar that can lift the gigantic Rosey over the top rope. Undoubtedly, this is Rosey's biggest chance at greatness. Will he take advantage? SHELTON BENJAMIN: Nobody thought Shelton Benjamin had what it took to beat Triple H, but he did ... twice. Nobody thought Shelton Benjamin had what it took to beat the legendary Ric Flair on pay-per-view, but he did. Now, some people are underestimating Shelton Benjamin's ability to win the 20-man over-the-top-rope battle royal. Come Monday night, those people may be forced to eat their words. STEVEN RICHARDS: Seeing as it has been over a year since Steven Richards has had a pay-per-view match, the chances of him actually main eventing Bad Blood seem very slim. However, weirder things have happened. SYLVAIN GRENIER: Like Rob Conway, Sylvain Grenier's chances are slim. While not an American turncoat, Grenier is equally disliked. Look for him to ousted quickly by a large number of Americans. THE HURRICANE: Despite being WWE's resident superhero, this match does not extenuate Hurricane's positives. With just under 200 pounds of weight on his 6-foot frame, Hurricane may be ripe for picking off. While anything is possible when it comes to the Hurricane, it is hard to imagine that he will be able to avoid the likes of Kane, Triple H and Batista. In a match where size dwarfs speed, Hurricane may be in trouble. TRIPLE H: Triple H combines a genuine passion for the World Heavyweight Championship with an unmatched in-ring ability and three other Evolution members to be considered one of the odds-on favorites to win Monday's battle royal. VAL VENIS: Val Venis can win the battle royal. He has the athletic ability to do so. The only question is whether he actually will win the battle royal. It has been some time since fans have see the Val Venis that held the Intercontinental Championship. The battle royal may be the perfect place for the old Venis to break out again. My favorite is Stevie Richards. Poor Stevie.

He lost to Val Venis on the Sunday Night Heat before Backlash and I don't remember him winning since. Benoit vs. Rosey! Make it happen! The best thing they could say about Stevie: "Weirder things have happened". Poor Stevie. Why not make him into a manager? He's pretty damn good as a heel manager and could help someone get over. Great writing for Val Venis. "The only question is whether he will actually win the battle royal." Thanks for pointing that out, guys.

Steviekick 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 It would be hysterical if Stevie wound up getting the Diesel push during the Battle Royal, and then the next week go back to glorified jobber-dom.
CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 Whoa, kudos to the WWE webguys. I like this. Very nice touch. And I think one of the reasons why Edge's size was mentioned was because recently on WWE.com, they had an article with him saying how hard it was to pack on the weight because of his body type. That and, ya know, he's bigger and stuff. Based on those bios, Kane winning doesn't seem that likely. It might be just to throw us off though.
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 WWE should do more stuff like this to encourage people actually bothering to check out wwe.com.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 It would be hysterical if Stevie wound up getting the Diesel push during the Battle Royal Big Stevie Cool makes a one night return? Mark-out. Anyway...it's nice that they made the effort to do this. It's just a shame that means having to pretend the guys who have become glorified jobbers stand a chance of winning. Rosey: Chris Benoit vs. Rosey in the main event at Bad Blood with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line. It could happen. Err...no. No it couldn't. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 Reading the bios makes me think that Edge is probably the one that's going to win it. They're pushing the Kane/Matt Hardy program too hard for it not to got to Bad Blood, and HBK's obviously going to cost Triple H the match. Jericho is the other reasonable choice and it would probably lead to a great match, but he doesn't have a story with Benoit right now. I can't even think of a reason that they woould have made Edge and Benoit tag champs if it wasn't to set up a match between them at Bad Blood, and just the way they were saying how it could be interesting reminded me how much they always love the feuding partners angle. Jericho could feud with Orton or Batista in the meantime, and still keep upward momentum without actually getting the title shot.
Dark Age 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 There doesnt seem to be anything for Edge at the moment, save for a pointless bout with Batista ot Flair, or having Benoit pull double duty and have them defend the belts. That being said, I dont see him winning the battle royal. Jericho has to be the winner, based on recent events. Fresh off a main event victory on Raw, blowing off (for now) his feud with Christian, it's the only thing they could have him do. If they were gonna stick him in a meaningless midcard match with Flair or something, wouldn't they have just saved Christian vs Jericho for the ppv? Plus, Jericho and Christian have both made challenges for the belt in recent weeks, so it makes sense that the winner of the blow off between those two would be next in line. Jericho wins it by eliminating Christian last. I'm calling it. Also, why no Tajiri? Are they going with any injury angle for Raw, or has he just been left out? And no Eugene either? And A-Train and Palumbo STILL haven't shown up on Raw. Why did they move them again? And whats up with Christian being made a focal point? Garrison's says he will have to get past big stars like H, Kane and Christian. Seriously, they are putting Christian on the same level of Trips and Kane? Guest Choken One Report post Posted May 16, 2004 it's called making him appear to be threat.
Dark Age 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 So you make him appear to be a threat because, what, you just want to? Im all for making Christian seem more credible, but when hes just lost to Jericho clean on Raw, I'm thinking Jericho is a much bigger threat. Don't try to make him seem like something he's not. Would you rank, in kayfabe, Christian as the third biggest name in that match? Edge, Jericho, Batista and Orton are all ahead of him.
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 I'm going to play the role of Captain Obvious and point out three things: Kane will win simply because, while Benoit vs. Jericho would be awesome, I doubt they'll do a face vs. face match. HBK will make an appearance just to eliminate HHH. I bet Hurricane's really glad he didn't stay on Smackdown now!
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 Stevie needs the Big Stevie Cool mixed in with a Andrew WK gimmick. Hell, see if Andrew will stop in and hang out with Stevie during a RAW. They already look and act the same, the damn voices are almost carbon copies and it might just give Steven something to do instead of eating chips and watching TV. As for the winner of the Battle Royal....I say Orton.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted May 16, 2004 Why orton? He is clearly being built for a program with Benjamin at Bad Blood... i still gotta think it's Jericho... Kane and Matt have been getting a good shove and I really don't see them just abruptly cutting it...although they kind of tease that X and V1 were starting something...but i still believe Kane/Matt goes down...and Jeffery returns. HHH/HBK-HIAC Benoit/Jericho Orton/Benjamin Kane/Hardy(z?) seems to be the card already set up...leaving Edge, X, Batisita out for the open. Edge/Batistia seems perfectly logical and likely...Leaving X out in the cold. I suppose they could always just do a X/Tajiri or X/Maven program and let X simmer in the mid-card before giving him a real big push...remember...Shawn lingered in the mid-card for 2 years with a similar gimmick before becoming a Name player. So with that...Bad Blood looks pretty good...Don't forget they can likely do a Regal/Eugene Vs Le Resistance match as well. Speaking of which...Ne one have a feeling that Nitro pulls a Lawler/J.Hart/Shawn/Perfect/Nunzio here and doesn't enter the ring right away and walks around the ring for a bit until a Face (let's say Edge) discovers him and tosses him out for a big pop

They already look and act the same, the damn voices are almost carbon copies and it might just give Steven something to do instead of eating chips and watching TV. That would be a great gimmick. And it works, because it expands on his current psycho gimmick. Just have him be happy and positive and goofy all the time. It would work if they threw him into the Eugene angle, like he befriends Eugene and wants to see him succeed and do his own thing, while Regal continues to use Eugene for his own purposes.
