Damaramu 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2004 Did anyone watch this? What'd you guys think of there choices? #1 is Jordan's jumper to bury the Utah Jazz. Is that really the greatest moment in NBA history? But they had some good ones on there. And they highligthed some great feuds. Lakers vs. Celtics and Johnson vs. Bird in paticular. It was funny that most of the greatest moments belonged to the Celtics and Lakers. Oh and can Carmelo Anthony be any more wooden? Lebron James would've been a better host if you wanted to go with a rookie sensastion. Though the line of: "It was great watching these moments from the BC era with you." "BC?" "Yeah. Before Carmelo" was kind of funny. So did anyone watch? What'd you think?

Damaramu 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2004 Was #2 him pushing off on Russell to get open? I believe #2 was Larry Bird's steal for the win. #1 was all of it. The steal from Malone and then the final shot.

Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2004 Carmelo looked half asleep reading off a card, as he obviously was. The show was pretty cool, the only beef I have about it though was no mention of the 1999 Knicks magical run to the finals. You have Houston's shot against the Heat, and LJ's 4 point play where the crowd EXPLODED like i've never seen a crowd explode before. But they did have Reed at #3, so i'm cool with that. The Electrifyer 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2004 I thought putting Jordan's shot at number 1 was righteous, fair, and totally friggin awesome. Also, if what Wilt Chamberlain said was true, I didn't know that the game where he scored 100 didn't actually finish. The game should have continued and see how much Wilt could then score in the final 40 seconds or so. I also remember reading him say that had they have put in the 3-point line at that time, he would have had 150 points instead of 100. I don't know what to really believe that comes out of his mouth though.
Guest OraleHolmes Report post Posted June 1, 2004 The number one moment? Fucking Bullshit, sez I. Jordan pushed, and I mean PUSHED Bryon Russell to get free. It was so obvious, so blatant, so criminal, but Jordan was protected by the refs, and the apparent offensive foul wasn't called. The real number one moment or sequence should be the ending of Game 5 between San Antonio and L.A -- Kobe's clutch jumper, followed by Duncan's impossible shot, and Fisher's OH, OH.4 shot. What the fuck ever. That was like in the high 20's and rightfully so. That was not the greatest moment in NBA history. Not even close. I get chills everytime I hear the "HAVLICHECK STOLE THE BALL!" call though.
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2004 Walton has always was Gold has the narrator. Way too over the top. Which makes him so funny. I don't agree with number 1. For a few reasons, mostly because Jordan unretired. The shot just loses something, after Jordan unretires.

Ripper 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2004 Magics hook, Birds steal, Garfield Heard's shot against the Celtics, and Kareems Hook against the Celts in the second overtime all go above the Jordan push off and shot sez I. Hell, I would take the Jordan, Cavalier killer over that shot. Just for the raw emotion he had. Or Isaiah thomas scoring like 22 points in 2 minutes against the Knicks that time to force over time. Goddamn I love the NBA.

Yes those two Miller moments were the best I just love seeing Reggie shove Jordan out off the way to hit the game winner. Although Jordan's shot almost lucked it's way in. However I was upset that the finish to the Magic-Pacers game 4 didn't make the list, You had 3 three point shots and a Smits shot at the buzzer like in 20 seconds

Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted June 6, 2004 Carmelo looked disturbed by Bill Walton and Walton looked like he was having a good time disturbing him. Cav killer shot is gonna have to be my number 1. Watching him just float there for what seems like minutes while Ehlo goes on by is just awe inspiring. Glad the Nuggets beating the Sonics from the 8th seed got some love. Dikembe Mutumbo on the floor just laughing his head off as he holds the ball is one of the more genuine emotional outbursts I've seen in sports.
Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted June 6, 2004 I liked the Bird steal against the Pistons. Also, the game where Jordon had the flu, and still had one of the best Championship games I have ever witnessed was one of my all time favorite moments. Also, the game happened on my birthday, so that made all the more special to me. I thought that game just showed that even when extremely sick, Jordon still could beat you. As for the show itself, I don't know if Melo was the best choice, but watching him just give Walton confused looks through out the show was very priceless. Man, Walton is on his own little planet, and for this show he definately took that ship to it. Especially when Walton would mention how he used to listen to games, and Melo looked at him like he was insane. So for unintentional comedy value, this show had it. And the choices, well I am sure if you could get a different list from everyone, so I am interested how they chose this. Did they poll basketball beat writers, former/current players, or did Bill Walton throw a dart at a list of choices? Enquiring minds want to know. But I liked seeing the old footage of the players who used to dominate the league. Back when you knew it was going to be either the Bird's Celtics or Magic's Lakers. That was when each game was always close in the Finals. And man, Dr. J could fly, and Michael Jordon was the best player I have ever seen. I also liked the Game 4 layup that Dr. J made against the Lakers (the one where he windmills his arm on the baseline). And I also love the Jordon shot that beat the Cavs in Game 5. Man, despite where we think the list should look like, if you love NBA ball, this was a good show, because you got a good blend of footage.

Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Report post Posted June 6, 2004 Blah, blah, blah, Jordan pushed off, it wasn't fair... OH, SHUT UP AND STOP YOUR WHINING. It's been 6 years... GET OVER IT. Give credit where credit is due, it was an excellent way to cap off his career at that point. Did everybody seem to forget about Reggie's pushoff during the Conference Finals of that same year ? That wasn't "fair" either, but did anybody complain ? But it was an excellent shot, so it really shouldn't matter.
