Guest godofdeadlydeath Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 I just watched this, and I must say I was very impressed. I haven't seen TNA since I ordered a Pay Per View LAST June in 2003, and although it was decent, it was nothing I wanted to shell out $10 for on a weekly basis. Today's episode of Impact, however, was great. I am loving the 6 sided ring, and I hope this grows to be a huge success. It didn't seem bush league in the slightest, and I think it can only grow from here. I didn't see any other threads about the actual show today, so I figured I'd make this.
Guest Coffey Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Bobby Rude = *thumbs up* The first match just ended, and that's all I've seen so far.

Oh yeah, forgot about the time zone differences. Hopefully this thread, and the show, picks up in popularity, I am sensing great things for TNA.
Silence Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Unfortunately, I wasn't able to see it today because Dish Network doesn't provide FSN (for some reason, I thought FOXWD was the same as FSN, but apparently it's Fox Sports WORLD because it had soccer on instead). Hopefully I can figure out some way to start seeing Impact regularly since Dish Network basically screwed me over.
Fro Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 I'd probably give it a 9/10... looked really professional... hot crowd, and the two X-Division matches were both very good. Too many ads. Sponsors looks to be some Country Music Labels, N-Gage, and lots of comped time for Universal Studios and Fox. By the way, on Fox Sports Midwest, they showed the program at 2 p.m. and now are showing a replay at 3 p.m.! Have to think they'll get some multiple airplays.
razazteca Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Its good to have indy wrestling back on cable tv. The 6 sided ring almost had me worried because of its association with AAA but that opening tag match was better than I expected. Better than Chessman & Psicosis vs Electro Shock & Zorro match any week. Oh boy here comes Kane's brother Abyss. I would rather watch Kane vs Hurricane than Abyss vs Shark Boy.

I have Dish Network and get the Cleveland and Cincy FSN's here.

Last time I watched it there were 4 matches, and about 20 commercials which involved Sting saying "I like what I see here in TNA." Thank God they got sponsors
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Oh boy here comes Kane's brother Abyss. I would rather watch Kane vs Hurricane than Abyss vs Shark Boy. ABYSS > KANE
Guest Coffey Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 ABYSS > KANE Oh yeah, it's no contest. Abyss has two moves that I like...Kane has zero. The "Black Hole Slam" is cool. It's like a 360 degree Bossman Slam. It looks really good when he does it to smaller guys, like Shark Boy. Too bad we didn't get to see his torture rack backbreaker move.
razazteca Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Has "Dallas" ever worked in Texas indys under the name of Shadow?
Jebus Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Has "Dallas" ever worked in Texas indys under the name of Shadow? Yeah, that's him
razazteca Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 I thought so, has any other wrestlers from Texas' PCW worked in TNA yet?
Celtic Jobber Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Impact was ok, but I can't say it's something I'd go out of my way to watch every week. It wasn't really much better than a good episode of Sunday Night HeAT. I know they aren't really trying right now, but if TNA ever wants to compete with WWE, they have a LOOOOOOOONG way to go. All that, plus I'm still pissed because Raven wasn't featured. TNA desperately NEEDs Kanyon.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 We don't get this till Saturday Night at Midnight here in Philly.

Guest ian. Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 I thought that was a very good debut show, they got their message across, and they sold me. I'm watching it against next week. Not buying the pay per view, but I'll watch the free show.

syxx2001 Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Here are some quotes from UberForums Astro....Whoo... it's starting. Awesome opening video I know they need to plug all this crap, but for once I'd like to see a true 'non stop' show where they just crammed as much stuff as they could into an hour. The shows been very good so far though Ulala....I dig the counter and the team names!!! Blink....From what I say, it was awesome. I saw the six-man tag match, and the talent displayed in that match alone was more than most WWE matches in a show combined. NWA:TNA has some great talent. I recorded it, so I'll watch the rest later tonight when I get home from work. conphuzed....Okay seriously....all the ads and Popeye? I'm kinda pissed. Good luck with their PPVs, no one's going to order them anymore. RDB part 1....you know for what it's worth it's pretty damn good... I already can't stand the shilling though but the wrestling is awesome. And this is from someone who hasn't watched WWE for some time now.. I don't know why but it's entertaining to watch and I don't even know who half the people are..
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 I have to say I really liked the six sided ring, it should be really good once they get used to working with it. I also like having the timer in the top of the screen along with who's fighting. The inring was very solid for the most part. I'm glad they didn't ruin the show with bringing in a ton of guys who were released by the WWF recently. I think they at the very least got the message across that they are an alternative to the WWF.
SuperJerk Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Good: -Focus on X Division -AJ Styles wrestling in the main event. -6 sided ring Not so good: -Double info bars too distracting -Jarrett's promo Overall, a good show. Really good for a B-show.
lomasmoney Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Are there replays of the show? I had to help my sister with her homework.
Art Sandusky Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Abso-fucking-lutely typical. I forgot all about it.
Guest The Last Free Voice Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 I loved it. Hopefully it got some people who were just tuning in for the first time to TNA talking about AJ and the X-Division. As far as Abyss, it was a squash to put over the Monster Bad Guy. I'm betting this signal's the re-emergance of him as a legit challenger. And hopefully a push.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 -Double info bars too distracting I liked the info bars a lot too. I love actually being able to see how much time has passed in the match and seeing the results from the PPV at the bottom.
Just John Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Having never watched TNA before, I thought this was a great show. The style was radically different and more exciting than the WWE style. Some of the moves were awesome and reminded me of WCW cruiser action. The flipping pile driver, styles clash, wheelbarrow into a neckbreaker, and corkscrew moonsault were my favorites. They seemed to focus mainly on wrestling and not so much on sports entertainment. The announcers and info bars gave it a sense of legitimacy as well. I'll definitely watch next week.
Guest The Last Free Voice Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Just John, the question is, would you order the PPV based off of just seeing this show?
Mecha Mummy Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Now I really hope my VCR's working properly so I can see the show. I'm getting really excited to see this despite myself.
Just John Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Just John, the question is, would you order the PPV based off of just seeing this show? Probably not, but that doesn't reflect on the quality of the show, just the fact that I don't have enough money. I could see myself ordering one every once in a while, but not weekly. I've only ordered 2 WWE ppv's this year, but I still watch Raw and SD every week.
Guest The Last Free Voice Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Just asking is all. I'm glad you liked the show.
