Hektik 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 TNA Impact Spoilers from Orlando by Blair Russell The first two matches were taped for Xplosion... 1. "Irish" Pat Kenney & Shark Boy defeated Johnny Swinger-Glen Gilberti (w/ Trinity); eh, this wasn't that good, as some things looked off/were screwed up, including Trinity's huracanrana on Kenney. 2. Hector Garza, Chris Sabin, and Elix Skipper defeated Roderick Strong, Alex Shelley, and Michael Shane. This was quite good, and it could be argued that this was the best match at the tapings. The Impact! tapings start here... 3. Kid Kash (w/ Dallas) defeated The Amazing Red in a decent bout. A vingette with Dusty Rhodes appears (as the judge for the X Divsion bout in case it goes the 10 minute time limit), and Vince Russo asks him for some assistance. 4. AJ Styles defeated Frankie Kazarian to retain the X Division title in a good bout; afterwards, Kid Kash and Dallas attacked Styles. 5. 3 Live Krew defeated The Naturals and David Young in what was basically a squash. After the bout, Jeff Jarrett came out and mentioned how he was "king of the mountain", but then Rhodes came out and said that at TNA's 2nd anniversary show, he would have to defend his title against Ron Killings. 6. Monty Brown defeated Sonny Siaki in another bout that was basically a squash. 7. Team Canada defeated Team Mexico in a six man tag after Scott D'Amore interfered. This was alright, but it looked like that once again, these guys just did not work well together. In a bout that was a non-televised main event: 8. Sabu defeated Abyss (w/ Goldylocks) after Raven provided unintended distraction. This was a slow-paced match that just wasn't that good, and Sabu screwed up his attempt at the triple jump moonsault too. While this wasn't as good as the debut show, it still should look fine for TV.
BoboBrazil 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 Eh they just got added like 2 seconds after I posted this at wrestlingobserver.com by Blair Russell The first two matches were taped for Xplosion... 1. Guest Donners Report post Posted June 11, 2004 Oh yeah this show sounds pretty crappy. Still no Raven... IIRC you said pretty much the same thing last week, and look at the reaction that got...
Guest TDinDC1112 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 I'm sure this show will look just fine on TV. There's only so much you can fit into 45 minutes.
TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 I just hope they continue the Raven/Sabu story, maybe in some backstage stuff. After such a hot beginning, I don't want them to just drop it.
BoboBrazil 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 I don't like how they aren't giving the characters personalities on Impact!. For a casual viewer who only sees Impact! what is going to make them care about an AJ Styles? Where are the guys like Raven to add star power? They are doing this thing ass backwards. They are giving workrate fans the free tv and doing the promos and crap on ppv. They need to make people care about the wrestlers on the free tv and promote the good matches for ppv. Also, I'm really starting to get pissed about Kanyon. They bring in a useless whore and sign Chad Collyer, but not Kanyon who has been available for over a month now. Astro101 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 Hmm...doesn't look like a good a show as last week's. X title match should have main evented.
Magus 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 are they intending on squeezing SIX matches into Impact? if so, that's pretty dumb, as there'll be hardly any time given to them. at least they gave Frankie his rematch, since their first match was so botched. three or four of the matches look really good, and would be great if they got enough time to them. the other matches look boring, though. we'll see how it turns out on TV, i guess. Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 Also, I'm really starting to get pissed about Kanyon. They bring in a useless whore and sign Chad Collyer, but not Kanyon who has been available for over a month now. Ever think that maybe Kanyon isn't interested? When he left WWE, he gave an interview saying that he'd only continue in wrestling if he felt he could give himself 100% to it.

Guest Benno Report post Posted June 11, 2004 what is going to make them care about an AJ Styles? Where are the guys like Raven to add star power? ahahaha, raven, star power? ahahaha...maybe to the smarts, but to the smarts aj styles has about the same amount of star power as raven does... Vyce 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 Due to my own lamentable fumblings with the timer on my VCR, I missed taping the debut show. But I shall not make the same mistake again! I think the show looks pretty decent. Only about 20 times better on paper than Smackdown wound up being, so I agree, it'll probably come off good on TV. And squeezing six matches onto this isn't so bad, assuming the two squash matches are kept short.
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 Benno beat me to it, but I'm going to say it anyways ... how is Raven enough of a 'star' to draw in casual viewers? If you know who Raven is, you know enough about wrestling to want to watch the show. Would it be his work as a jobber on Heat that would bring fans in? Or his occasional appearance as a face in the crowed during backstage vignettes on Raw?
TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 are they intending on squeezing SIX matches into Impact? if so, that's pretty dumb, as there'll be hardly any time given to them. I don't mind the matches being short, because if they gave away long matches on TV, no one would pay for the PPVs. They need to introduce characters on Impact and have matches just long enough to see what the talent is capable of. For instead, people interested in AJ from last week's 6 minute match were probably floored by the PPVs 20 minute match. I thought the match lengths last week were approriate consider the time constrictions of the show and if they don't do a lenthy in-ring promo like last week, they could have easily fit another match on that show. razazteca 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 Did Juventud Guerrera or Asbimo Negro wrestler for Team Mexico on Impact? Is Hector Garza carrying the B shows by himself?
Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted June 11, 2004 Juvi has been out since after the first (maybe second) XCup... And Negro's work has sucked balls in TNA. So, yea, Garza is carrying the team now.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 Is there any chance that Team Mexico could get somebody else besides Asbimo Negro and Heavy Metal, maybe bring in Zorro, Latin Lover, Electro Shock, hell even Chessman.
TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 Benno beat me to it, but I'm going to say it anyways ... how is Raven enough of a 'star' to draw in casual viewers? If you know who Raven is, you know enough about wrestling to want to watch the show. Would it be his work as a jobber on Heat that would bring fans in? Or his occasional appearance as a face in the crowed during backstage vignettes on Raw? Seeing that Raven is an "established" name, and AJ is only known to ROH and TNA marks, I see Raven having more "Star" power than AJ. Raven has held the ECW Title, the US Title, the Hardcore Title, and so forth. He has an established fanbase that is potentially bigger than AJ Styles. AJ Styles has been wrestling for a few years, and has barely had the exposure that Raven has. Although I don't think Raven-Sabu will do anything for me now. 7 years ago, that's a different story. Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted June 11, 2004 Uh, maybe? I would rather not have Negro on the team. Metal has just been iffy. I don't know any other luchadores so I really can't say who'd be better. I suppose AAA picked those guys for a reason though.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 Lets just say Heavy Metal and Negro are not exactly the best in the company. I would like to see them replaced by Zorro and Electro Shock, too bad Team AAA has to be rudos.
Guest Real F'n Show Report post Posted June 11, 2004 Imagine how much better things would be if they had a deal with CMLL instead of AAA. We'd have Shocker, Ultimo Guerrero, Rey Bucanero, and maybe Black Warrior instead of Garza, Negro, Metal, and Aguila.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 I would love to see Team CMLL vs Team Teddy Hart.
Guest Real F'n Show Report post Posted June 11, 2004 Shocker, Bucanero, Ultimo Guerrero and Black Warrior vs. Teddy Hart, Jack Evans, Harry Smith, and TJ Wilson or Shocker, Bucanero, Ultimo Guerrero and Black Warrior vs. Jerry Lynn, AJ Styles, Chris Daniels, and Low Ki Either match would rule. TNA really dropped the ball with the America's X Cup.
Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted June 11, 2004 I disagree. I think TNA did pretty well with teh XCups. (Save for the England Fiasco) Were the teams as good as they could have been? No, but I still say they put on some damn fine shows with the athletes they picked. The America's and World X Cup(s) were a sucess.

I would like to see them replaced by Zorro and Electro Shock, too bad Team AAA has to be rudos. In TNA world, Team AAA quickly became babyfaces due to their popularity (Garza in particular) so they could get some technicos to replace a member if they wanted to.
