AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2004 I don't really hate him now, because he's definitely improving as a worker and a bit on the mic, plus the sickening uber-push is winding down. However, I don't really want to see him wrestle much except in a tag match with the rest of Evolution. He's still too rest-holdy for my tastes. I think it's helpful that he tries to make a chinlock look painful...but it's still a chinlock. To me he's like Christian with weaker mic skills right now, basically. I'm not questioning whether or not the push worked, because he's clearly over, but I still find it a little funny that it took all of that effort to get him there in comparison to someone like Christian, who with about half the effort was getting one of the best reactions on Raw prior to his injury. And not to say that Christian should receive some kind of super push or anything, but when it takes that much work to get someone over (someone who's still pretty green at that), is really worth the trouble? But the thing is...I think that there is a possibility that Orton could have got over on his own. Sure we know he was 'pushed down out throats' and now it seems as if more people are starting to like him somewhat...but I honestly feel he didn't 'need' the uber push. Of course if they would have went the normal route..right now he'd still be a mid carder...but how you described Christian I think Orton may have began to improve and would then get a better fanbase. Of course we'll never know, because he was pushed from the start... But I'm just saying, I think he could have been a 'Christian' and improved over time, until the point where he would have garnered a good reaction on his own. Of course, others may not agree though. He has given the title credibility. Everytime there is an IC Title match, the match is friggin great, and when the face gets the BIG TIME upper hand, Orton cheats, or slips away with victory. Have him stop giving daily BJ's to Triple H, and stop using his and Flair's coattails, and see what he can do on his own. Actually if you think about it, when was the last time Batista even had a feud, and no I'm not counting the Tajiri one because that only lasted what two maybe 3 matches? Batista is really the only one out of the whole stable that hasn't had a feud at all recently, so thats why he's been on heat before a PPV. Ric Flair is the member before him who gets feud's but he's mainly for manager roles. So the order of who gets feuds and better matches are like this HHH Orton Flair and then Batistia. Detox 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2004 Ive enjoyed him since he was giving the injury reports on his shoulder he is at least average in the ring and he is cocky kind of like another superstar who broke out in late '98 his push may be a bit much but I think the IC belt has regained a some prestige with his run I am actually looking forward to this young crop of talent that is being fucked by the brand extension Wrestlemania 21 Cena vs Orton? maybe. I'll admit he seems to be improved, both in the ring & on the mic, but I just don't care about him. I'm down with the "digging Batista more than Orton" crowd, though. I'm sure just about everyone here has heard about how DDP would watch his matches on buses and airplanes, and turn to complete strangers and ask them what they thought of his performances. From what I've been hearing, it's not too much of a leap to think Batista would/could be doing this now, or in the future. What all the Pro-Batista marks are saying, is that there's a difference between knowing you're not as good as you want to be, and working at it, and someone thinking they're the shit, when all they are is a sack of shit. Now Batista, I REALLY like, sometimes you just need a monster to beat the shit out of people, the 80's/90's had Sid, and I'm pretty sure Batista will be a better wrestler than Sid. Randy Orton is a slow learner and it took him nearly a year or more to even get close to being at Dave's level. Orton best heel in the company?
