The Czech Republic Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 I think it was actually Wrestleline that pioneered La Parka. What is the full lineage of the board? Is this right? TheSmartMarks.com Forums (current) The Smart Marks Forums (Invision between main sites) The SmarKboard (Invision during thesmarks.com) The SmarKboard (the really ugly yellow EZBoard version) The SmarKboard (the plain blue EZBoard) The SmarKboard (the blue one with the goofy background) Rantsylvania Forum (Delphi) I think the board format as we know it took on its form at the Blue Goofy Background stage (Wrestling feds, Current Events, Sports, DVD/TV/Film, Porno, No Holds Barred)
Art Sandusky Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 This is a great thread. What would you use as a way to divide up different eras of the board thus far? Anyone who's been here long enough has been able to tell how posters of prominence and common subject matter will shift every now and then.
The Czech Republic Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 I think summer 2002 was the best era.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 The Ruthless Aggressor (remember him?) is indirectly responsible for the board invasion trend of late summer/early fall '02. He started a thread about the official Eminem board, claiming it to be the worst board ever. Talk of invading that board began, but no one was properly motivated...that is until Kinetic brought us the Avril Lavigne board.
Guest Vitamin X Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 Oh that was the best inVasion thus far
Art Sandusky Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 I think summer 2002 was the best era. I'd agree if I wasn't gone for a month and a half of it.
The Czech Republic Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 When do most of the classic threads originate from? That might help us figure out the best days.
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 My work with the Ruthless Aggressor on the eminem board went woefully undernoticed. My support group for Eminem's spurned gay loves was sufficiently fucked up.
Nevermortal Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 I loved the INTENSE~! era. It was such stupid fun.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 I think summer 2002 was the best era. Spring of 02. That was me at the height of my insanity, and the beginning of me converting the board.
The Czech Republic Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 We all know the worst time was the end of the EZBoard, those of us that were there for that. I hope the early part of 2003 wasn't big because that was the time I was on hiatus I think.
Art Sandusky Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 That was right after the Alina/thesmartmark/ESTABLISHMENT~ era was over, and SpiderPoet was starting to gain some prominence.
The Czech Republic Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 Was I the only person who liked Alina? I think I was gone from February to April '03 I don't remember. By the way: I love that I'm a PBP.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 This is a great thread. What would you use as a way to divide up different eras of the board thus far? Anyone who's been here long enough has been able to tell how posters of prominence and common subject matter will shift every now and then. Here on the invisionboard some of the eras I think of are: The Post Whore Days: the first few months of the board of the months when Anglesault, Tony, Goodhelmet, myself, etc dominated the board. Then the Mod election and the founding of the OAOAST. NHB's founding. DDT Invasion. Banky/myself/Paul dominating NHB. Current Era. that just a rough thing without putting much thought into.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 Was I the only person who liked Alina? Yes.
Nighthawk Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 Banky/myself/Paul dominating NHB. That never happened.
Jobber of the Week Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 I think it may be one of those things where HHH was literally plodding around the ring, destroying a match with his slow, boring antics (because he was so heavy he could barely move) and JR excused it as HHH and is INTENSE~! wrestling (Like methodical) and everyone caught on to it around the same time. Keith mentioned at some point that WWE was banned from calling things "violent" anymore because of the amount of violence that gets blamed from wrestling, or network censors, or something like that. So it was like they just looked at the script, crossed out "violent" and wrote "physically intense." It was common to hear JR scream about how physically intense a match is. And that just sounds odd and was certainly no replacement for using good ol' violence. INTENSITY really took off after that point.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 How did Steve Joseph save the board? (Please don't answer, I'm being a smart-ass.) Oh, and if anyone asks about the "lol" plague that's spread throughout CE, I got it covered, cwm, since I was pretty much responsible for it...
Guest Vitamin X Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 OK so what was the story behind Alina then? All I remember of her was she posted a pic or something and she was some tennis chick..something like that...
justsoyouknow Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 I recall Kotz being in love with her, as well.
Art Sandusky Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 Whatever. She just happened to be a mildly attractive, straight, and legal(a rarity on this board) girl. I should add that she started AIM correspondence with me rather than the other way around. Considering she was the one that ended up being insane, I'd believe my version over hers.
Sass Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 Alina snapped because someone called "boring" when she started a Q&A thread for herself. But she went *more* nuts when someone spelled her name wrong.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 It was godthedog that questioned her qualifications to start an "Ask..." thread; he had a point, as she said herself that the only thing she knew about was sports. It was bps21 that fucked up the spelling of her name.
Art Sandusky Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 For going insane on everyone and flaming everywhere, as well as being generally creepy (changing her name from Alina and having a pink banner that generally looked happy with her picture in it to Black Widow with the banner suddenly turned black and the picture made to look dead). Good ol' ALina. That's right. She went nuts because Bps accidentally said ALina instead of Alina.
