King Kamala Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I only have one official concert planned out this summer. But it's well worth it. Motherfuckin Prince, Musicology Tour, August 18th at the Fleet Center in Boston. Three hours of Prince with no worrying of shitty opening acts (Although I'm a little upset Prince didn't pick the Time to be an opening act). I might also go to a Blue Oyster Cult/UFO double bill in late September at a 2000 seat ball room. The venue itself is terrible(It's like a huge Holiday Inn lounge) but tickets are only $20 and Jason Bonham's glorified Led Zeppelin tribute is opening.
Garth Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 Went to Red Hot Chilli Peppers at Hyde Park last weekend. Also going to Reading Festival on August bank holiday, thats all I know for now but would like to go to some others over the summer. Post #900
Youth N Asia Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I think it's just the Warped Tour for me this summer.
Henry Spencer Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 Ben Folds, Weird Al Yankovich, and The Pixies are all lined up.
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I was going to go to Cannibal Corpse and Black Dahlia Murder in July, but I realized that I probably wouldn't have much fun since I like neither of those bands and I'm definitely not a big fan of the local death scene people for the most part. Other than that, I don't know...probably just local death metal bands and the Lethbridge Death Fest at the end of the summer. I'm far too poor right now to travel for shows anywhere else.
Guest JebusNassedar Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 Not a damn one. It was amazing; this spring, there was all sorts of good bands. dredg, Mars Volta, Dillinger (which I'm still kicking myself for missing)... And now it's all gone to hell. The only remotely good concerts, Clutch and Metal Church, are 21+. The best musician coming that I can go to is John Fogerty. I hate being a teenager.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 Went to Bonnaroo, next definite is the Slayer-headlined Jager tour.
The Metal Maniac Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I saw Slayer with Damageplan on the 10th of June. So ends my summer concerts. Damn shit-hole province....
Lord of The Curry Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 Was supposed to hit up Lolla but that's not going. Right now the big one is the Curiosa Festival.
nl5xsk1 Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 The only shows that I have tickets for already are Ozzfest and Phish, both at the Great Woods. But I'm sure that I'll end up seeing some other shows, depending on the where/when/how much of them all.
Guest Vitamin X Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I definitely want to go to Ozzfest, and maybe Evanescence later in July if I have the money and feel like it. I'm interested in the Jager tour as well but don't know when it'll be coming around... other than that, it's just hitting up the culture room at random times to see if anyone good is playing.
Nevermortal Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 Gravy Train!!!!! @ The Century Lounge on July 10th Cryptopsy @ The Drum Show on July 18th Maybe Ozzfest if I get comped...
NoCalMike Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I heavily considered Ozzfest because this year features the strongest lineup ever, however I still decided that admission + the drive is too much. I will be attending Slayer/Judas Priest since they are coming to Sacramento in between Ozzfest dates.... Umm, that is all I have confirmed. Soulfly is coming here next month, I am considering that one too.
DCMaximo Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 3 Colours Red in Nottingham on July 17th. After that, I've got nothing planned, but I'd like to think I'll go see someone else at some point.
Nevermortal Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 Ozzfest's tickets are like a mortgage payment.
NoCalMike Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 Ozzfest's tickets are like a mortgage payment. They certainly are. I also don't like the sneaky way they put together the 2nd stage, and usually stuff all the good bands in the monring with the 15-20 minute set lists, and then once noon time hits, all the limp bizkit clones start hitting the stage. Not to mention the lineup is usually explained the OPPOSITE on the little flier they hand out when you are in line. Frustrating. $50 would have been ok, but $80 is too much. I would rather go to a metalfest in SF and pay $15-$20 for 8 kickass bands.
spiny norman Posted June 26, 2004 Report Posted June 26, 2004 Cyndi Lauper, MC5, The Eagles and The Who are all coming my way worth seeing. As to which I'll get, it depends on what I can afford, and the only affordable act of those four is MC5, so I guess I'll try and see them then.
jimmy no nose Posted June 26, 2004 Report Posted June 26, 2004 I'm going to Philly July 23-25 for 3 Bloodhound Gang concerts where they will be debuting their new material. I got 2 tickets to each show for free just for saying I liked the sample MP3 they had on their site on their message board. I haven't even really listened to them in a few years, should be a good time though, they do some crazy stuff during their shows. It turns out this band I've been real into recently called Isabelle's Gift are going to be opening all 3 nights too. I was planning on making a trip out to Philly some time this summer to visit some people anyway, this is the perfect reason.
Paul Stanley Posted June 26, 2004 Report Posted June 26, 2004 I only have one official concert planned out this summer. But it's well worth it. Motherfuckin Prince, Musicology Tour, August 18th at the Fleet Center in Boston. Three hours of Prince with no worrying of shitty opening acts (Although I'm a little upset Prince didn't pick the Time to be an opening act). Haha. Actually, I'm seeing Morris Day & The Time at Rockin' Ribfest this July, and it's free too. They played last year and saw them there, Jerome rules. I'm missing KISS tommorow (gasp!), but im on my way to f'n DOKKEN, JACKYL and L.A Guns the 30th of June!
Guest Vitamin X Posted June 26, 2004 Report Posted June 26, 2004 Wow... Paul Stanley: TSM Resident Hair Metalmaniac
The Czech Republic Posted June 26, 2004 Report Posted June 26, 2004 Fountains of Wayne or Tower of Power on Sunday...which is right for me?
Zetterberg is God Posted June 26, 2004 Report Posted June 26, 2004 I'll be going to Warped Tour again this year, as well as seeing the Tea Party and Finger Eleven at the Stampede.
Placebo Effect Posted June 26, 2004 Report Posted June 26, 2004 Festivals Curiousa (The Cure, Thursday, etc.) Ozzfest Warped Tour Hellfest (3 days) Projekt Revolution Individual Shows Eve 6 (third to last show ever in Baltimore) Lit Shinedown 311/The Roots Lostprophets/Eighteen Visions Lacuna Coil headlining show D12 Drowning Pool/Flaw/Atomship/Dropbox Evanescence/Breaking Benjamin/Seether Fear Factory/Sworn Enemy Kittie/Twelve Tribes LEWIS FUCKING BLACK Slight possiblity Incubus Boys Night Out/Saves The Day X-Ecutioners Weird Al That's way too many shows...
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted June 26, 2004 Report Posted June 26, 2004 Super/Pseudo jazz jam band The Bad Plus is coming next weke as part of our Jazz Festival. Tomorrow Mike Watt's jazz duo, Dos, (with his ex-wife of Black Flag fame) is coming. That one depends on my mood, or how much grass I'll be smoking.
snuffbox Posted June 26, 2004 Report Posted June 26, 2004 Went to Bonnaroo Planning to attend a Jerry Garcia birthday festival in Wisconsin, CSN in Baltimore, Bob Dylan/Willie Nelson somewhere... Possibly Arlo Guthrie and Rebecca Moore in NYC and a Leftover Salmon festival in Ohio.
Youth N Asia Posted June 26, 2004 Report Posted June 26, 2004 I thought about going to the Ozzfest for the hell of it...but tickets are a little much. With the Warped Tour it's 30 bucks and you get music from noon till 8 (or so)
Placebo Effect Posted June 26, 2004 Report Posted June 26, 2004 I thought about going to the Ozzfest for the hell of it...but tickets are a little much. With the Warped Tour it's 30 bucks and you get music from noon till 8 (or so) I'm interested in seeing the crowds this year at Ozzfest. I'm most interested in how the drunk, fifty year olds are going to react to Hatebreed, Dimmu, etc. In general, I want to see how much the audience changes. The number of women is going to go down huge thanks to the band line-up, and I can imagine that there are going to less of the preppy, asshole, college students there too.
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted June 27, 2004 Report Posted June 27, 2004 It's not in the summer, but I found the perfect way to pop my concert cherry; the Pixies, November 25th. My favourite band's apparently kickass reunion tour is definitely worth eighteen years of live musical purity.
