DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2004 They got lazy with Taker and Kane's Legend characters and gave them the same intro as their modern day counterparts, but I guess for space reasons (and the fact that as it stands, nothing has really changed much outside of the music) it's forgiveable. Old School Taker does get "From Death Valley" in his entrance, though, and he looks great. And for the hell of it, one of Kane chokeslamming Kane
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2004 Recreating the epic Taker v. Taker match, I see. And by epic I mean not epic at all.
Aero 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2004 It's not like they needed to change the entrances for either that much, except taking out the druids for Taker, but it's no big deal to me. Taker looks PERFECT this time around, and he has the grey instead of the purple, so that's a plus. I think it's funny that when Kane comes out, the Unforgiven name graphic says, "Masked Kane", but I guess you can't have two Kanes on screen if you have a match. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2004 The original themes to be included in SvR--source...uh, a friend e-mailed it to me, so I don't know. 1. "When Worlds Collide" by Powerman 5000 2. cbacon 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2004 That Bonecracker song is horrible. From a Canadian band that tried to emulate Limp Bizkit. *shudder*

Odd, you can do that with CAWS, right? "Legend Undertaker" sounds so hokey. They should've just swaped the "The" like they did in HCTP last year.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2004 So I went to EB Games today to unload SmackDown 3 ($5 store credit! Wow!), WMXIX and DoR to pre-order GTA and SvR today... and it turns out SvR is only $50 Canadian. Hooray for the declining US dollar! Should be noted Future Shop says it will be $69.99, so maybe it's just better priced at EB.

deancoles 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2004 I wish the chants for him were "let's go Bret" instead of "Bret Hart" repeated. I like the Piledriver as his Smackdown move, nice nod to his first run as a singles guy in 88. Edit: The introduction would have been better had fink done it, the way he dragged out the word Hitman was awesome. Surprised they didn't refer to Andre as the "8th wonder of the world" in his intro. Guest Real F'n Show Report post Posted October 23, 2004 Yes, but will they have little pop-ups that have the name of the song, artist, album etc. ala EA? I hope not. Plus I kinda like the background music in HCTP, and the scheduled soundtrack for this game looks like shit. Is Powerman 5000 really the best they can do? Silence 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2004 Is Powerman 5000 really the best they can do? It was bad enough when WWE had Powerman 5000 songs playing during early 2000 match clips from Raw on Sunday Night Heat. Oh, and WWE also had Godsmack singing twice during their August 1999 match clips of Raw and Heat on two Heat episodes. I have to say that WWE has the worst taste in "heavy metal" music. DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2004 Electronic Playground just showed an interview about the game, and seeing the game footage on a fullsceren TV (as opposed to watching computerized video on a monitor) revealed just how much better the models (which looked good last year as it was) are this year. Business suits still look odd, though. They showed clips from the season mode - most interesting would have been HHH in the ring wearing a business suit for a stare down with the option of pressing X to do a shove. The person they were interviewing then explained the heel / face choices that make it so storymode can be different when you play with so many different branches. While that is cool, that also makes me think it suffers from the same problem that every SmackDown game has suffered: Core storylines that need to be viewed in almost every run through the game. Hopefully the choices you make can branch you away from that, though. I loved HCTP's season, but it was rather annoying that you pretty much had 2 main angles to chose from with minor angles around it.

Guest Real F'n Show Report post Posted October 25, 2004 Yeah I guess. I don't know, I'm just skeptical about this soundtrack thing in a Smackdown game. I guess I'll just have to turn it off. When you turn it off, will it still play background music like in HCTP, or will it be complete silence?
Guest GoinHomeSmDay2006 Report post Posted October 25, 2004 The music in HCTP was horrible. My guess is they hired these bands b/c they are mostly little known bands. Besides since commentary is back I'll probably just play CDs on my stereo instead of listening to the crap that will be said by the announcers.
