tbondrage99 Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 Its sad Im hearing nothing but compaints from you guys but personally I love it, sure the season mode is pretty crappy, and the CAW could be better but the CAW thing dosent bother me because I can usually find some way around it and get what I want anyways. Either way I find that the game is great.
dubq Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 "sure the season mode is pretty crappy" ^^ Understatement of the year, folks.
dubq Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 That still sounds retarded. Yukes/THQ wont get 50 dollars of my money. Maybe when this game drops down to 20 I might buy it. I'm just glad I got it for free.
tbondrage99 Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 Meh whatever I'll keep playing it until I get sick of it and start wanting to play one of the other two games I got when I bougt my PS2 last week
Guest bigm350 Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 "sure the season mode is pretty crappy" ^^ Understatement of the year, folks. And we thought the season mode in HCTP sucked. Yeeesh.
Jericholic82 Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 Aside from themes, I think one glaring thing stands out about the legends.. Mankind and Rock have no titantrons even though both men have been in multiple Smackdown games WITH titantrons. I agree!! the entrances look stupid when they cut to a still shot of the wwe logo for a few secs freakin weak just take out the dumb background songs and youd have space maybe oh and btw brets theme in the game (his second one after the original hart foundation one) was not written by Jimmy Hart . Bret first got this remixed/redone version of the foundation tune theme in mid 94 after the anvil returned and was also using the old HF theme so bret got a new one (and jimmy was in wcw by this point) in summer of 94

Guest GoinHomeSmDay2006 Posted November 15, 2004 Report Posted November 15, 2004 I wisely didn't buy this game and waited until I could rent it. I am so so glad that I did not buy it. This game is such a huge let down. There are parts that I like, the Create a Belt/PPV, but most of the game sucks. Voiceovers, announcing, the roster, the limited caw textures, the season all of them suck. Overall a very, very average game.
Guest bigm350 Posted November 15, 2004 Report Posted November 15, 2004 I'm wondering if SD 7 will be out for Playstation 2? Or will it be out for the PS 3?
Ted the Poster Posted November 15, 2004 Report Posted November 15, 2004 Well, the PS3 isn't coming out until 2006, so I'd imagine it'll be for PS2.
Guest Real F'n Show Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 I can't believe people are still whining about CAW and the announcing. First off, the announcing isn't that bad. Maybe I haven't played it as much as some of you or something, but it's not annoying like earlier games, and some of the stuff they say actually makes sense sometimes. Also, this year's CAW is the best yet IMO. I was easily able to create 8 indy guys in 2 nights, and movesets as well. Maybe it's just me being damn good... The challenges, Create a Belt/PPV, Bret Hart, and the motherfucking 6-man tag in the elimination chamber made this game well worth my $50.
dubq Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 The announcing is L-A-M-E LAME! It RARELY makes sense from what I've seen and thank god you can turn it off. In terms of voiceovers. For fucks sake, is it that hard to engineer the voices to sound like they're actually in an arena and not in a tin can?

Yeah, it sounds like these guys were in an empty warehouse.
Guest Real F'n Show Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 I'll agree here, the voiceovers are horrible. And also, how do you get to the tag team elimination table match? I'm trying to pass the challenge where you have to be the Dudleyz and put two people through tables, but I can only find the regular tag team table match. How do I make it elimination?
Anakin Flair Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 I'm digging this game. Hopefully, sometime soon I can buy a copy, instead of just renting it. One thing I've noticed, though- the only voice-over that seems right is Vince's. All of the others are way to quiet.
Exslade ZX Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 I'll agree here, the voiceovers are horrible. And also, how do you get to the tag team elimination table match? I'm trying to pass the challenge where you have to be the Dudleyz and put two people through tables, but I can only find the regular tag team table match. How do I make it elimination? If you look at the challenge it tells you how to get to the matches... for instance it might say 'Single/No Manager' or in this case I think 'Survival/Elimination' or something like that...just look and it will tell you. But I think it's under Survival..
King Cucaracha Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 Well, I've finally rented it and it's not all that bad. Not great, certainly. But not bad. Not as bad as some people have made out. Then again, maybe I'm not looking for same things in the game as others. I'm glad they've finally done something about seperating taunts from interference in tag matches and I like how now, whipping your opponent into their corner in a tag amtches causes them to bounce back out rather than sit in the corner and not make the tag for some reason. Also, there's some new counters in the game. The voiceovers are good for comedy value too. I laughed my ass off first time I heard Vince...he hams up ever line beautifully. As for the Rumble...has anyone found out how to do the press slam out yet? I know that after a certain amount of damage you can throw people straight out as the ringout meter is ignored. But, I still haven't used the press slam.
Exslade ZX Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 Using Show/Andre/Batista/Kane/Undertaker...and there may be another, on a person of a lesser weight then you, Down+O, then Up+O.

For fucks sake, is it that hard to engineer the voices to sound like they're actually in an arena and not in a tin can? Yeah, it sounds like these guys were in an empty warehouse. Seriously. Another thing that bothers me about the concept of voiceovers for a wrestling game is that, normally, when a wrestler is in the ring and on the mic.. he isn't just "talking" - he's shouting or at least raising his voice. Everything done in this game sounds like the guys are having a discussion in close quarters. I realllllly hope they scrap this idea for the next game. Seriously, it adds NOTHING, IMO.
Guest bigm350 Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 I think they should have had it much like HCTP. Just use text boxes. Seriously, how much did adding these voiceovers hurt other aspects of this game?
King Cucaracha Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 I think they should have had it much like HCTP. Just use text boxes. Seriously, how much did adding these voiceovers hurt other aspects of this game? Well, you can put text boxes on if you want...and there may be a way to turn the voiceovers down/off. What else it would affect I don't know. And I guess the voiceovers are the main reason you can't use legends in season mode. Still, as I said earlier...the voiceovers are good for comedy value if nothing else.

Still, as I said earlier...the voiceovers are good for comedy value if nothing else. Probably the main reason that there's less wrestlers as well. And why the game has to load up after everything. Well, I've finally rented it and it's not all that bad. Not great, certainly. But not bad. Not as bad as some people have made out. Then again, maybe I'm not looking for same things in the game as others. The fact that they didn't change the gameplay aside from some tweaks is good. Everything around that (except CAW) is kind of a step back from HCTP.
tetsubeav Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 What else it would affect I don't know. It would affect how much space is left on the PS2 disk to put in other features. Takes way more space to store an actual audio file than the corresponding text.
DrVenkman PhD Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 For what it's worth, EGM gave it the best rating they've ever given a SD game (7, 7.5, and 8.0 as opposed to the usual 7's and a 6).
Guest Real F'n Show Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 I'll agree here, the voiceovers are horrible. And also, how do you get to the tag team elimination table match? But I think it's under Survival.. Finally found it, it's under Main Events, then Elimination Tag, then Tornado Table Tag. Now I'm having trouble beating the Crippler Crossface Challenge (the one where you have to make Benoit tap to his own Crossface). Is it just me, or is it incredibly hard to make people tap in this game as opposed to HCTP? Using Kurt Angle (who I think is the only other person besides Benoit with a 10 in submission) I had Benoit's neck/head, upper body, and arms in dark red, and I couldn't fucking get him to tap. Christ, I just can't tap buttons like they want you to, it would kill my hand. Also having problems with the "Overcome the Odds" challenge and the one with the finisher reversal ( I know this should be easy, but I CAN'T reverse a finisher in this game. I used to be able to all the time in HCTP, but not here. Did they change it or something?) Any suggestions for beating these 3 challenges?
Guest Sturgis Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 My suggesion for Crossface Challenge: Tap O and Left or Right(Depeding which way the word "TAP" is) at the same time.
Guest Trivia247 Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 anyone else notice as soon as you try to make a benoit flying headbutt your opponent no matter how battered he is somehow decides to get up then.
King Cucaracha Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 I managed to beat the Crossface challenge with Rock in about a 5 minute match. What difficulty are you on Show?
Exslade ZX Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 anyone else notice as soon as you try to make a benoit flying headbutt your opponent no matter how battered he is somehow decides to get up then. No...I always hit them. And now, it's changed so that even when you land on someone's back it registers as a move (Unlike the last one where hitting them in the back...pretty much got you hurt more and they got right back up) so it shouldn't be that hard to hit it...
Guest Suicide King Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 (edited) I have managed to get through all of the non-legendary challenges, except the finisher reversal one. It is nigh freaking impossible to reverse a finisher in this damned game. Pisses me off to no end. It doesn't matter if the finisher is mat based, standing, or high risk... it gets through every time. The damned computer of course can reverse mine with impunity though.
