Guest Donners Report post Posted July 2, 2004 TNA Impact TV taping July 1, 2004 Orlando, Fla. at Universal Studios Report by Danney T. Robertson, PWTorch.com correspondent There was a larger crowd than there had been the past couple of weeks. There were people sitting in the aisles next to me. But in the end, the crowd was not nearly as involved or excited as previous ones. Jimmy Hart came out and plugged the line-up for the show. Then Jeremy Borash came out with four TNA girls. Both announce teams then took their positions XPLOSION MATCHES (for syndication) (1) Shark Boy beat David Young. The crowd really loved Shark Boy and were solidly behind him. He got one of the larger pops of the night. The crowd really didn't know who Young was. Entertaining match with some comedic spots at the beginning. After that a solid back and forth match, Young slapped the ref towards the end causing the ref to hulk up and punch young allowing Shark Boy to score the ring with a rollup. (2) The Elite Guard beat three locals. This was a somewhat solid and entertaing match. Nothing terribly amazing. The Elite Guard got the win with a more or less botched DDT. IMPACT (for Fox Sports Net) (1) Primetime won a match. I didn't catch the other guy's name because for some reason they did not have the house speakers very loud at all. Michael Shane and Kazarian came out in the middle of the match and taunted Primetime from the top of the ramp. Very entertaining match that ended when Primetime hit his finisher and got the win. I have to say that Primetime is very impressive in the ring and should have a very good career. (2) Americas Most Wanted & D-Lo Brown beat Team Japan. D-Lo was very popular with the crowd and probably got the loudest cheers of the night. America's Most Wanted got the win with a double team legdrop off the top rope. Another Solid and entertaining match. (3) "Alpha Male" Monty Brown beat Abysmo Negro. This was more or less a squash. Didn't last too long and Abysmo didn't get in that much offense. Monty Brown got the win with The Pounce. (4) Michael Shane & Kazarian beat Amazing Red & Chris Sabin. This was a very good match. Amazing Red was good tonight. I lost a little faith in him after his match last week. Michael Shane got the win with the superkick. They then aired a Johnny Fairplay promo promoting the open challenge to any reality TV star. They then cut to the announcers and they talked. Matches for next week's PPV: Monty Brown vs. D-Lo Brown, AMW vs. The Naturals in an X- Division tornado tag match, America's Most Wanted then came out and cut a promo saying that next week they would get their identities and belts back. They then aired a promo for Jeff Hardy. They cut to the back and had an interview with Vince Russo. He admitted he dropped the ball in signing Jeff Hardy. He said that he is sending Dusty Rhodes to his house with something in an envelope. He didn't let on to what it was, but does he really need to explain what it is? Jarrett with his Elite Guard came out to do commentary for the main event. (5) Team Canada beat 3 Live Kru (w/the absolutely worthless Dennis Rodman). Good main event while it lasted. Jarrett ran in and took out B.G. James with his guitar which allowed Team Canada to get the win. Shamrock then came out and stood toe-to-toe with Jarrett. All eight men start to brawl. Dennis Rodman did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. All he did was come out, sit down, and flirt with the ladies the whole time. Heck, they could have got me to do that and be just as effective. I say that because he was not over with the crowd and he did absolutely nothing. I think even I could pull that off. The crowd really got on him when he was leaving, chanting "Rodman's Worthless." Overall, a decent show, but nowhere near as good as all of the past episodes. BONUS MATCH (1) Sonjay Dutt & Kid Rodeo beat The Naturals. The crowd really hated the fact that this was the bonus match as no one really cared about any one of these people. More than half of the crowd was gone halfway through the match. Sonjay got the win with a 450 splash. At least it doesn't look like Rodman will be staying...
Guest Real F'n Show Report post Posted July 2, 2004 Eh, show sounds okay, nothing really standing out though. Apparently it won't be airing tomorrow at 3pm on FSN Chicago because of a Cubs/Sox game. Does anyone know if they show Impact replays on FSN Chicago? I didn't get a response in the other thread I asked in.
BoboBrazil 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 Eh they promote Rodman then he doesn't even do anything? WTF? With the money they spent on him they could have probably brought in Kanyon.
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 I find the Kid Rodeo slip-up pretty hilarious.
Phoenix Fury Legdrop 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 By the way, the unnamed guy that wrestled Elix Skipper is none other than "The Next" Alex Shelley.
Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted July 2, 2004 Well I was all ready to write this show off untill PFL said "Shelly". Still sounds like a pretty crappy show though. Who the HELL Okayed Abismo Negro vs. Monte Brown? They need to be SHOT.

Who the HELL Okayed Abismo Negro vs. Monte Brown? They need to be SHOT. It looks like the best show yet with Shelley on there. Only bad match is the Monty Brown squash. Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted July 2, 2004 I don't think 3LK vs. Canada looks good. And I'm doubting how much Shane/Kazarian vs. Red/Sabin would work. It looks iffy to me at best.
Guest whitemilesdavis Report post Posted July 2, 2004 They then aired a Johnny Fairplay promo promoting the open challenge to any reality TV star. NOOOOOOOOOOOO! It seems every time TNA has a chance to make a stupid decision, they do so. Seriously, I'm pulling for this company, but they are making it difficult. So what, are we gonna get Fairplay vs. Nick Lachey on PPV. That'll be a classic.
Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted July 2, 2004 I'd pay to see Rupert trounce Fairplay.
Guest whitemilesdavis Report post Posted July 2, 2004 I'd pay to see Rupert trounce Fairplay. OK, me too. But as a wrestling fan, I'd certainly feel guilty about it. But if it is Rupert and JFP, I want it to be a shoot.

They keep calling these Xplosion matches, but all the matches I see on Xplosion are from the Asylum. I don't quite understand that. I have to say that Primetime is very impressive in the ring and should have a very good career. Where's this guy been the past few years? Primetime's been around for years and it sounds like this guy just heard of him. (3) "Alpha Male" Monty Brown beat Abysmo Negro. This was more or less a squash. Didn't last too long and Abysmo didn't get in that much offense. Monty Brown got the win with The Pounce. They're going to overdo the Monty Brown squashes. One a week is getting REALLY old. They then cut to the announcers and they talked. Matches for next week's PPV: Monty Brown vs. D-Lo Brown, AMW vs. The Naturals in an X- Division tornado tag match Doesn't sound like too bad of a card. At least we know Monty Brown won't be in a squash match. Jarrett ran in and took out B.G. James with his guitar which allowed Team Canada to get the win. Shamrock then came out and stood toe-to-toe with Jarrett. Why doesn't Jarrett use a new weapon? Why is he standing toe-to-toe with Shamrock and not Killings? Where is the stability in the feuds? =-Swiggy P.S. I'm actually wanting to see this, but I want to see next week more.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 Question: Is Monty Brown really any good? So far, he isn't from what I've seen.

LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 Abismo Negro rules. As does Shelley and Romeo. I'm happy to see that Romeo's returning. The problem is they don't know how to use any of these guys, save for Shelley. The match with Skipper should be good, but Romeo & Dutt vs. the Naturals and Negro vs. Monty? Boo! Guest whitemilesdavis Report post Posted July 2, 2004 Question: Is Monty Brown really any good? So far, he isn't from what I've seen. I'd say no. I made a big rant about his WWE style hossness in another thread, so I'll spare you here. Just let me say, he's not as good as Matt Morgan.
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 They keep calling these Xplosion matches, but all the matches I see on Xplosion are from the Asylum. I don't quite understand that. Well, there are times when the Xplosion matches are three, four weeks old. Who knows if these will ever get shown, though I really hope they do.

The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 Negro looked like he was moving in slow motion. That's actually a good thing. When he moves in regular motion he gets lost and starts blowing everthing.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 I never thought someone could sell the other guy kicking out like he was rolling off of an air matress.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted July 2, 2004 Man, this was the best week of Impact BY FAR. Two good matches and everything else was at least entertaining. I watched the show twice, and I have it on tape and plan on watching it a third time before writing a review up of it. Good show this week. This Wednesday's PPV looks to be good too. I'm a little disappointed by the lack of AJ Styles, Raven & Abyss though...but they could still show up.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 Is Raven recovered from whatever it was he was sick with yet? It was bad timing storyline wise to come down with that illness. It's kind of put the Sabu/Raven storyline build on hold. Although...Sabu doing the Raven pose on Wednesday was AWESOME. I'd imagine Styles would be back by Wednesday...but since he's doesn't already have something announced...TNA might just give him the day off.
Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 Next week.. Fairplay v. William Hung
Fro 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 This was the best show they've done easily. Even the Monty Brown squash was watchable. They did a pretty good job hyping the PPV as well and made Shamrock seem like a huge deal.
Astro101 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 Good show this week. As long as they put in some X matches and no stupid crap it should always be at least decent. I liked the Shamrock promo bringing up the past and coming full circle. And "from the octagon to the hexagon" is pretty cool.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted July 2, 2004 Yeah, I liked the hype for Shamrock as well. I liked how Shamrock touched on his win over Kimo in UFC recently too and how he compared it to what he'll do to Jeff Jarrett. It adds a little more credibility and legitimacy to TNAW. Guest Real F'n Show Report post Posted July 2, 2004 Goddamn it didn't air here. Where can I find out when the replays are?
Astro7x 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2004 Eh, show sounds okay, nothing really standing out though. Apparently it won't be airing tomorrow at 3pm on FSN Chicago because of a Cubs/Sox game. Does anyone know if they show Impact replays on FSN Chicago? I didn't get a response in the other thread I asked in. Don't know if anyone answered this, but Tuesday July 6th at 4pm EST... so probably 3pm chicago time. Edit: Comcast Sports Network (CCSN) is also airing it Saturday Night at Midnight EST. I have the Dish network Sports Multipack, so I just highlight Impact, press search, and it tells me when it's playing on every Fox Sports Net stations throughout the week. Very handy, and if it's preempted in my area, I can just watch it on a different Fox Sports Net channel.
