Guest combat_rock Report post Posted July 4, 2004 Well, they might give them a shot on Smackdown, but they probably won't be treated as a real threat in that match.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 4, 2004 Logically, If smackdown was smart, they just do the whole plucky rockeresuqe underdog sell with London/Kidman. they will get squashed instead. Has anyone ever MAIN EVENTED a ppv and went to the c show main event in the same week?
Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2004 London and Kidman beat the Dudleys via DQ on Velocity. Does this make them number one contenders for teh tag titles? They will probably get a title shot but get squashed in the process Right now the best tag team on Smackdown is the FBI. Nunzio and Stamboli have been having good matches and getting nice reactions from the crowd. They should be the next tag champs.

Either they'll try something radical with the Tag Division and give more teams a shot, or simply 'forget' they have Tag Titles at all.

Guest TigerDriver91 Report post Posted July 4, 2004 Kidman hit the SSP on D-Von but before the ref could count the three Bubba Ray pulled him out of the ring. Seems like a rather stupid reason to declare the match a DQ, but this is WWE.

Guest Deviant Report post Posted July 4, 2004 The way I see it, Paul London is now the number one contender to both the tag titles and cruiser title. He has now beaten the tag team champions, which usually guarantees an immediate rematch for the gold, and he was illegally eliminated from the #1 contenders cruiser battle royal after dominating it, which usually gets a title match as well. London for double champ!
Guest Nelly's Bandaid Report post Posted July 4, 2004 I don't see how this can't equal a SD title shot, it seems to be pretty standard that if you beat the champions in a non title match you get a rematch for the title. They should of done a chair DQ or had it go clean though, as the only sensible type of DQ is a beatdown and in this case with nothing on the line the Dudleys had just as much to lose going down clean or on the DQ. It was a good match though, not much offense for Kidman and London, but the Dudleys brought the stiffness and never really slowed things much. Hopefully they trade more offense in the rematch. Guest Real F'n Show Report post Posted July 4, 2004 Don't get your hopes up. WWE won't mention it on Smackdown. London and Kidman will go back to being all time Velocity workers while the Dudleys will be put back in the Undertaker storyline.
Papacita 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2004 I don't see how this can't equal a SD title shot, it seems to be pretty standard that if you beat the champions in a non title match you get a rematch for the title. That usually only works in the case of a pinfall victory, and even that depends on WWE's willingness to follow up on the win. I can remember a few matches where the champion was pinned CLEANLY in the middle of the ring and the winner never received a title shot. Hell, they named Ultimo Dragon number one contender to the Cruiserweight title on one Smackdown last fall, and he never got a title shot. And BTW, am I the only person who's getting tired of the whole "So and so pinned the champion" excuse to name a number one contender? They use that way too much. I'd love, for once, to see a rankings system come into play in WWE.

Guest Real F'n Show Report post Posted July 4, 2004 Does anyone else see something wrong with the tag team champions on Velocity? Not really, they do this every once and awhile, putting champions on the weekend shows. Don't know why, really. I agree that WWE needs a ranking system for each belt. If done right, that could be cool. They could put like the Top 5 Contenders up every week on the site. Once someone gets their shot at the belt, they have to make their way up the rankings again. Too bad WWE would fuck it, probably like this: CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE TOP 5 CONTENDERS Champion: Rey Mysterio 1. Jackie Gayda 2. Doug Basham 3. Josh Mathews 4. Michael Cole's gay step-son 5. Spike Dudley

The C Man 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2004 Well if it does mean a Kidman/London title shot then the WWE has done it all wrong (again). Firstly Kidman & London should've got involved in a little mini-feud, play up the fact that they can't co-exist. Then have the Dudleys squash them in an angle, not a match. Both London & Kidman go after the Duds alone but get squashed again. They then realise that the only way they can win is if they put their rivalry aside and team up. Meanwhile the Dudleys are built up as tag-team monsters, unbeatable in tag matches. When Kidman & London challenge the Duds for the belts go for the whole 'they can't co-exist so what chance have they got of beating the Dudleys' angle. Then have them pull out the huge upset win and go on to put their differences aside and become a well-oiled tag machine.
Only The Strong Survive 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2004 That'd be wonderful. Then again this is the WWE. They could care less which of their teams has the tag straps (i.e. La Resistance on Raw). The belts are just showpieces, and on Smackdown, they're even more worthless than usual thanks to the fact that Smackdown is and always will be Smackdown. Guest Deviant Report post Posted July 5, 2004 It would be better just to give them an underdog push with a "holy shit they just won the titles" match, then several successful defenses as they prove they are worthy and an impressive team.
Australian Pride 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2004 If they get a shot they will likely be given the Bob Holly/123 Kid (from 1995) type of push where they are completely written off but then pull it off somehow. Probably because the Undertaker will provide a distraction.
