Guest Black Lightning Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 First of all, I'm not sure how well it came across on TV (haven't watched the tape yet), but the crowd tonight was ON FIRE live. My left ear is ringing incredibly loudly from the sheer volume of it. Also, I bought a Benoit shirt, so I'm happy. Anyway... RAW notes: Dark match: some guy (Mike Bucci?) def. another guy who's name I couldn't hear. - Pretty standard match, and of course it got a 'boring' chant because no one knew who they were. But I must say, if they plan to get on TV, they need to find a way to get the most out of a WWE-style match. Very basic. Bucci seems like a decent heel, though. Heat: Maven def. Chuck Palumbo - No one recognized Palumbo with his bleached hair and khaki pants, but Maven got a big pop for being recognizable. Again, standard match, but decent for what it was. Palumbo was bringing the STIFFNESS~! throughout, which is always entertaining. Hurricane/Rosey def. two jobbers - Your basic tag match, with Helms playing face-in-peril, but damn were HurriSHIT over. Nice 'Rosey' chant was going, while he busted out his fat guy offense. One of the jobbers was wearing a green singlet, prompting the guy behind me to yell, "You suck, Green-Tights! .......not Hurricane!" Another funny call was this other guy who, after Rosey hit his second legdrop of the match, yelled, "Two fatguy legdrops in ONE MATCH?! We're not worthy!" Awesome. It'd be a shame if they aren't audible on Heat. Anyway, Hurricane got the pin with a Shining Wizard, to a nice pop. After the match, Rosey hugged some woman in the front row, and then kept going back to her with a huge smile on his face. Pretty funny. WILLIAM REGAL~! def. Stevie Richards - Fun match. HUGE pop for Regal, as well as a standing ovation during his entrance. There was even some decent psychology to it as Stevie always goes back to Regal's left arm, to weaken it for his Kata HaStevie AND to prevent Regal's deliciously stiff strikes. Regal wins with a running knee lift (yes, he really did). After RAW Benoit gets a standing ovation from the crowd, which lasts for a few minutes. He then gets on the house mic, and calls out Evolution. They don't come back, so he cuts a promo about how Evo's fueled by greed, while Benoit and Edge are fueled by pride. He ends it by saying he and Edge are for real. It was actually a pretty good promo, for a guy who supposedly "can't talk." He's about to leave, when Edge stops him, and cuts another promo. This one's basically about how he's gonna bring the IC title home. He closes it by starting a 'Go Jets Go' chant, as he and Benoit pose with an oversized Canadian flag. Biggest pops: 1. Jericho (durr. I'm not sure if this made it to air, but he got a 'let's go, Jericho' chant during his match that had to last a good 3-4 minutes.) 2. Benoit 3. Flair 4. HHH 5. Eugene Biggest heat: 1. Orton's win 2. Eugene (when he hit Benoit) 3. Smackdown rebound 4. The mention of JBL (hard to make a list, as EVERYBODY got pops) Good show live. Hope it translated well to TV. I'll edit the Smackdown/Velocity spoilers/notes into this post tomorrow night.
Mecha Mummy Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Regal/Stevie on Sunday? I'm there. I concur. Though, c'mon, a running kneelift? Of all the moves Regal can bust out...
DrVenkman PhD Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Regal/Stevie on Sunday? I'm there. Keep in mind that's for International Heat.
Mecha Mummy Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Regal/Stevie on Sunday? I'm there. Keep in mind that's for International Heat. ... *Groan.* Well, shit.
CanadianChick Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Regal/Stevie on Sunday? I'm there. I concur. Though, c'mon, a running kneelift? Of all the moves Regal can bust out... Yeah, that's how he he beat Stevie in the recent houseshow I went to. Very strange indeed.
tekcop Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 I know this should go in Tape Trading, but does anyone here tape heat? There are quite a few matches from that show that I've missed that I'd love to see.

Well, shit, no wonder they haven't called him up yet. I liked him in ECW, but seriously, when working the WWE style, he's remarkably underwhelming. I thought I was watching a couple of rookies out there. He did have some charisma, though. Heh. I knew the name sounded familiar.
Guest Ray Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Regal/Stevie on Sunday? I'm there. Keep in mind that's for International Heat. SHIT! SHIT! SHIT! SHIT! SHIT! I wanted to see that match.

Is it safe to say the once innovative Nova is now just another Dropkick-Crossbody machine?
Guest Black Lightning Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 It would be safer to say the once innovative Nova is now just another armdrag-resthold machine. And that makes me very, very sad.
haVoc Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 No one recognized Palumbo with his bleached hair and khaki pants, Another image make over?
Mole Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 (hard to make a list, as EVERYBODY got pops) That isn't a good thing.
Jack_Bauer Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Regal/Stevie on Sunday? I'm there. Keep in mind that's for International Heat. YAHOO !!! I'm all for this whole international heat malarky.
Guest Real F'n Show Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Wait....... NOVA was innovative? Crazy. Yes didn't you know he INVENTED the swanton bomb, Last Rites, AND Kryptonite Krunch? Even though Great Sasuke, Chris Daniels, and Mike Modest were all using them years before, but that doesn't matter... In all seriousness, Nova didn't invent anything, except matches with more than 20 blown spots.

Shit, I forgot about the Pay-Per-View. I would GLADLY take that match over Jericho/Batista. Hopefully William wrestles at Vengeance anyways.
2GOLD Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 So, why was Stevie in a dress last week again? Seems like that was a rather pointless segment, what with Stevie coming out and acting normal. Actually better question: WAS Stevie acting normal?

Seems like that was a rather pointless segment, what with Stevie coming out and acting normal. Actually better question: WAS Stevie acting normal? It wasn't confirmed by WWE that it was Stevie in the dress, though. Until they reveal who the lady in drag is, Stevie can go on being his, erm, somewhat normal self.
